It's a laptop now?

You can use the memory thing at http://www.crucial.com/ to find out exactly what you need, and then buy from them or elsewhere.

Hmmm I can't remember quite a bit of the system so here's a jist:

Pentium 4 2.4GHz
2gig RAM
70gig Raptor hard drive (speedy)
X-Fi Fata1ity FPS edition
Nvidia Geforce FX 5700
1280x1024 flat screen
DVD-RW
All in a minicase

Weak! I say it's weak!!! I can't run BF2 on top settings *cries* Well apart from the X-Fi. Sound = Ultra High

I am going to upgrade for UT2007 *drools like all the drooling people you can thing of times together*

Go to www.iceows.com download the 1meg packet extractor, install. Now stop complaining about *.rar files!!!

I just changed to a more powerful system.
I now have an Intel Pentium 4 1.50ghz pc with 768MB ram
Onboard Intel soundcard; soundsystem is my hifi-set , Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 64mb, XP Professional with SP2.
Iiyama Vision master 450 19" (it is set on 1600 x 1200, because I also use this computer for my study & photographyeditting), Systemdisk is a brandnew 80GB Western Digital HD, other disk is a 120GB Maxtor HD, and an Asus DVD-(re)writer. And totally not relevant, but connected: my dear Canon 350D :lovestruc

I'm still wondering if my old Graphicscard was better than the one installed now: My old one was a Radeon 7500 All-in-Wonder 64MB. Anyone familiar?
And maybe I can purchase some more RAM one day: I have one slot left.

The ATI 7500 and Nvidia MX440 appear to be similar performers, though some results favour one or the other.

Some benchmark results and comparisons here

Well, I guess the Nvidia does it a lot better. Check out the difference:

(Radeon 7500)

( Nvidia Geforce4)

Although I was still having a problem with the Nvidia: my cpu is constantly overheating and it was having a hard time coping with the graphics. The Nvidia constantly switched to lower modes because the CPU had problems.

Here's a comparison with other notebook video cards / intergrated video
http://kettya.com/notebook2/gpu_ranking.htm

But overall, it's not great compared to a desktop system with a decent dedicated video card

I molested my cpu with the Sims2 yesterday, hehehe :P
It was already a bad cpu and constantly overheating, but we wanted to test it, so I had all graphics on 'high' and that was probably too much for the cpu, cause it will not start up my pc anymore :P

That screenshot doesn't look too bad, in terms of image quality...what's the framerate like?

You can press CTRL-SHIFT-S to see framerate / memory performance in-game.

Pentium D Processor 830 with Dual Core Technology (3GHz, 800FSB)
Genuine Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition (but I also read windows XP pro in DxDiag so who knows)
256MB PCI Express x16 nVidia GeForce 6800 (want to upgrade someday)
1GB RAM
160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) (7200 is good but 10000 is the best for the Sims 2)
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 48x CD-RW Drive
19 inch Flat Panel Monitor Max Res: 1600,1200
Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD Audio

I'm pretty happy with it. Just a couple things I would have changed had I had the money. But at least its easily upgradable.

- Gateway 614GE Model
- Windows XP
- AMD Athlon 64 3400+
- 200 GB HDD
- 512 MB DDR Memory
- UniChrome Pro IGP Graphics Card

My game runs at the lowest graphics settings, however.
