Default Is Quadro NVS 290 good for TS2?
I'm looking for a graphics card to use in a small form factor PC (since my GeForce 5200 wouldn't fit in it, despite being a legacy PCI card), and I found this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/nVidia-Quad...#ht_2461wt_1024

It looks like it should work with the game AND fit in my PC, but there's this:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/i...07131246AA7eMKs

Apparently "The Quadro line of video cards are work-station GPUs and are designed for designing, 3D modeling, etc., but they are not designed for gaming."

Should I buy or should I not buy?

Is your card AGP or "PCI-Express", I don't remember the GeForce 5200 being other than PCI or AGP. I don't think that card will fit your computer.
I think you need to be looking for AGP card.

ADD: You will want the 2nd # to be 5 or higher to get the best performance on GeForce cards. I would not go lower than a 7600 GT card if I were you.

The card is a standard PCI card, and I found some low profile mounting brackets online that should work with the GeForce. The question now is whether I should bother with the bracket or if I should just invest some money in a better graphics card. The machine in question has no AGP slot or PCI-e x16 slot; its a business model HP with only one PCI-e x1 slot and three or so legacy PCI slots (and it requires a low profile bracket). Also note that I would prefer not to spend a lot of money on this, though I want to install several expansion packs on the machine in question.

EDIT: What about this one?

I really could not tell you about PCI-e x1 slot cards.

I would stay away from The Quadro line of cards for they have a dif. type of hook up than reg. cards do.

Maybe some one will come by that has a GeForce GT 610 card and let us know how it works for Sims 2.

I'm moving this thread to the Hardware Technical Support forum since there's nothing currently wrong with your game AND the people in that section will be more likely to see your question.

Please do not PM me with Game or Site Help questions. Post them in the appropriate section after going through the FAQs.
