Default Is sims 3 support 2560 x 1440 (or 2560 x 1600) or 5760 x 1080 resolution.
Just think to upgrade monitor since I feel 290x with 1080p monitor is insanely overkill.
Although I play several hardcore game but sims is still one of the game that I spend most time on it. But I can't find any solid information about max resolution that sims 3 support.

Disturb again I may decide to buy a cheap 4k monitor (actually it can work 2mode 2560x1440 @ 120hz and 4k @ 30hz). If sims 3 and simcity 2013 don't support 4k I may consider triple monitor eyefinity.

Yes, since my 15 inch Macbook is the Retina Display and it supports the game 2560x1800 on Windows 7
