Good luck hunting for a mate for Sunny D.

Thank you! Here's hoping she will take to the birb. She can be a real grouch!

Edit: Here's an updated picture of the two new birbs: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...owing-814900340

And tomorrow, Sno-Cone will be eight weeks old! And of course he will be celebrating with lots and lots of millet as usual.

Pretty little bitty birbs.

Also an early happy birthday for Sno-Cone!

Happy birthday, to Banana, the birthday boy...belated.

I don't mind birds. I would love a menagerie of interesting pets. My problem is their prey drive (of natural predator types) will ruin the harmony of the menagerie.

Thank you @Pandaqueen and @smorbie1! Well, Sno-Cone is eight weeks old today, and we also got a new birdie!

New birb hatched: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...tched-815029953

And here's a cute pic of Sno-Cone: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...-Cone-815030490

Blueberry will reach the eight-week mark soon, and then I'll be mainly focusing on the new babies. Three eggs to go so far... can't wait to see what their colours will be like. Went to the Bird Shop today and discussed how to visually sex -Ino budgies since it can be confusing due to their cere-colour. For -Ino budgies and certain other types, the cere colours can be similar between cocks and hens. Gotta study and practice to be able to tell the difference with those beauties!

It would be good to know especially if you are breeding and giving/selling them to others who will love them just as much.

That was a really good pic of Sno-Cone hanging out with her sister. And, of course, the pink babies are beyond beautiful.

Any luck on finding Sunny D. a fella?

@smorbie1 we might be going to a bird show in a couple of weeks, so who knows? We could find a mate for her there. We could also find some slip-on leg bands. But as it is, I think this will be the last brood for the year. Gotta give Mama a rest.

BTW, another pic from the second brood: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...igger-815151669

Hopefully we will have another baby hatch tomorrow. Also, tomorrow Blueberry will be eight weeks old!

Happy birthday, Blueberry!

They are so pretty when they're newborn, aren't they? Beautiful pink puddles of birbs.

They're even prettier when their feathers really start growing in. Also, we have an egg that is peeping... gonna have a new birb soon!

Oopsie, they're both pics of the birthday birb. That's a pretty picture of him/her.

I love that the babies peep before they come out of the egg. It's like they can't wait to get here.

Oops! Fixed the link - thanks for the heads-up! Here's the picture I meant to post: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...PING--815294294

And here's today's picture: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...ched--815415109

None of the hatched birdies have red eyes. Here's hoping for some in the future!

And here's Day 8: https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...ting--815541056

We suspected that another egg is due to hatch and well, it hatched today! Gonna get the pic up soon!

Day 9: Birb #5 hatches https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...to-Go-815660764

Day 10: All snuggled up, waiting for #6 https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...ber-6-815784094

Day 11: Egg #6 is PEEPING https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...PING--815919531

Gonna take some pics today and upload one because the final egg hatched. Dunno if the chick will show up very well because she is very tiny, but she has red eyes and will either be white, yellow, or a mix between the two.

I tried to check love three times, forgetting I can only do it once. You've had great success! All 11 of your babies have hatched! And the two biggest ones are getting pin feathers already. The really do grow up so fast, don't they?

I'm hoping for a solid white one.

I'm also hoping for a white or cream, but either way she will be stunning! And yup, they do grow up so fast! In just a few weeks they'll be all flying around :D

Edit: It's a GIRL! https://www.deviantart.com/sanjouin...Girl--816032767 And she looks like she has no eyes, but they just don't show up that well under her skin. In a few days, here's hoping she'll open those eyes and show how pretty they are... <3

lol. I've been amazed at the differences in their sizes. I guess I thought they would all hatch at once, like a cat having kittens or something. Yes, I'm dumb. I accespt that.

You're not dumb - lots of people make that mistake. A friend of my mother even made that mistake and threw away a bunch of unhatched eggs when they didn't all hatch.

And well, got some bad news today: Two of our budgies - #4 and #5 - died. #6 is still doing alright, and I think we should move them in at least during the night. Poor babies...

Even more bad news... the sixth budgie died the day after #4 and #5. I was hoping she would make it... I really was... but she just stopped thriving and went quickly downhill. Going to upload pictures from the past few days - days spent without internet due to the Great California Blackout.

Poor babies. Maybe mama and daddy birb shouldn't have had two clutches so close together. Are the other two still okay?

Are your lights going to stay on or are there likely to be more blackouts? I think PG&E is covering their rears because they keep getting sued for fires.

It could be that or it could be the changing weather. But yeah, we are going to give this couple a rest for a few months. And the surviving babies are still cute. Also, I think it's rather shitty of the people to sue PG&E when they were doing all they could. Problem is, we need to be able to clear brush and dead trees to make fire-breaks in case of downed poles. Being without electricity is the pits.

Anyway, here's some pictures I took during the blackout:

Gorgeous.

I agree. Poor P, G&E can't win. Last year they got blamed for the fires and sued into bankruptcy. This year they decided to cut the power so power lines wouldn't help spread the natural problem of wildfires, annnnd, they get blamed.

The problem is there are so many laws against cleaning up dead material that when the wind blows and a spark starts, there's nothing to stop it from becoming huge.

I know. And yes, there are animals that use dead trees and such for homes, but come on... dead trees and grass and brush can become a fire hazard - even if the electricity is off. I mean, what if lightning strikes and starts a fire?

Anyway, here's some more pics:

And we bought a new birdie! We have a male lutino budgie, and apparently female lutinos have opalescent ceres (noses) while the males are more pink.
