well, you have two options to create the basements on the lots, make them with a slope or without a slope.
you want to make the slope basement you can find on the site tutorials about this or send me a message to explain.
If you decide to make the basement no slope, you can consult CatherineTCJD tutorial to see the creation mode.

Can animals come and go with these short stairs? I have some other lots made by Mootilda (a brilliant modder) and animals can use them to go up but not down them. By the way, I love the house.

you're right, when I designed the site wasn't tested on pets and this is a downside to keeping the stairs short.
