Hey there, fellow simmers!

The two files attached may be useful to Russian-speakers who need to constantly change between the two languages. For instance, if they are working on a translation of a mod or have someone else, who doesn't know English, playing The Sims 2 on their computer. By double-clicking on one of the files and accepting the changes, you will switch the game to the corresponding language. Simple as that.

How does this work?
The game stores language parameters as Windows registry settings and you can manually change them to any supported language. The thing is, it is very tedious because you need to modify 18+ parameters in the registry. The files I made simply make these changes for you. Namely, they change:
"Language"=dword:00000013 to Language"=dword:00000010
"LanguageName"="English US" to "LanguageName"="Russian RU"
"Locale"="en_us" to "Locale"="ru"
And vice versa.

IMPORTANT NOTE - These files will only work on Windows 10 64bit!
Other versions have different paths to the language settings, so these two will not work if you have Windows 7 or Windows 10 32bit.

Make sure to back up your registry before you try any of the files!
To do that, type "regedit" in Windows search, locate EA GAMES folder and export it. Check the 2nd screenshot to see how it is done.

If you want, you can easily modify my "Switch to RU.reg" file to any supported language you want. To do that, open it with notepad and replace the corresponding lines to your desired language. You will have to google to find what the parameters are.

The files are meant for the Ultimate Collection, i.e. for all the expansion packs but it should work just as fine even if you don't have some of them. To be on the safe side, you could modify the files be deleting the lines for the packs you do not have.

Another Little Thing!
During my tests, the game changed all the English names of the sims to random Russian ones: a sim with the name "Test 1" became "Светлана" for some reason. Fortunately, it changed back when I switched to English, so it should not be much of a problem. Admittedly, I have not tested how the game would change the names spelled in Cyrillic. To be safe, back up your save files too before you try this out.
