I have another global mod for you all today, and this time it's a fix for freetime novels and their weird effect on motives. For some reason EA thought it was a good idea for Sci-Fi books to tank hygiene, presumably because of the rather stupid stereotype prejudiced image of nerds. They also made romance books give social, and cook books cause hunger to drop.

I find these effects on motives rather unrealistic, especially the massive hit on hygiene from Sci-Fi books. I can sort of get that reading about food makes you hungry, and reading a book about romance can make you feel less lonely, but not to the extent that they do with EA coding.

I posted about it in the discussion forum, and realized more people find it silly, so I decided to see if I could fix it. And four months later, I finally have. I want to thank maybesomethingdunno and the rather wonderful BoilingOil for their help. If it weren't for them, especially BoilingOil, this project would not have come out as great as it did.

What is this and what does it do?
This is a global mod that changes effect on motives from reading certain Freetime books. There are two different global mods to choose between. They are made differently, and work differently. Which one to use depends on what you want this mod to do.

This mod requires Freetime. It is compatible with all EPs/SPs. I have not tried UC, but it should work with UC as well.

Only Fun version
This is a global mod that removes the book-specific motive changes. Your Sims will gain fun from reading books like they always have, but all other motives are unaffected. This mod is unlikely to conflict with other mods.

More Realistic version
This is a global mod that alters the rate at which motives decrease/increase from reading books. This mod is more versatile than Only Fun, because it changes the rate at which motives change rather than remove them completely. I made it for those of you who might like some aspects of the motive changes but not all. Perhaps you like the cook book decrease, but not the others. Or perhaps you like all but want it to be slower.

This version is set to no hygiene decay, 50% less hunger decay, and 65% less social increase. Sims will lose 1/8 of the hunger bar per hour, and gain 1/8 of the social bar per hour. If you'd like it set different, you can easily change it.

Conflicts with Read Books Autonomously by mrclopes, if you use this mod download the compatible version and make sure mine loads last.

Conflicts
Conflicts with K-C's "less money for auxillary income at home"-mod. Realistic version conflicts with mrclopes Read Books Autonomously, compatible version available. May conflict with mods that affect book reading.

If you find a conflict, please let me know and I'll see if I can make a compatible version.

A big thank you to BoilingOil who answered all my questions and gave me helpful advice when I got stuck. The More Realistic version exists because of him. If you haven't checked out his work, you should head over to leefish right now, because you are missing out!

Thank you to maybesomethingdunno who answered my questions in the early days of this project, and pointed me to tutorials that taught me lots of things that I used to make the Only Fun version.

A shoutout and a thanks to VioletPadfoot, who once upon a long time ago helped me with the my first creation, and taught me that things might be a lot easier than they seem if you just try. I'm so glad I was able to make a mod that she wanted, so that I can give her something in return for having started me on my creating career.
