This Content Requires Expansion Pack Data That is Not Installed Error

Problem

  • Error: "This Content Requires Expansion Pack Data That is Not Installed" when trying to install content from a sims2pack.

Cause

This error is caused when a sims2pack is made in a game that has additional expansions installed, and then someone else without those expansions tries to install the sims2pack.

Solution

If you are trying to install a sim:

Sims do not require expansion packs. When the game's installer will not allow you to install sims made with expansions, it's lying to you! You can install those sims just fine using:

Any items from an expansion pack that the sim may have on them (like clothing, hair, or an accessory) will not show up in your game, but the sim's facial structure should work just fine.

If you are trying to install a wall, floor, or ground cover:

Same as with sims. Walls, floors, and ground covers do not require expansions. You can install all walls, floors, and ground cover using:

If you are trying to install a lot or house:

You cannot work around this! Lots require what they require and if you try to install a lot or house that requires expansion packs that you do not own, clicking on the lot in your lot bin will crash your game. Just don't do it - if you can't live without a particular lot, you'll have to actually get whatever expansions it says it requires.
