CAS #4

Problem

  • When in Create a Sim/Create a Family, under part #4 (where you choose glasses/accessories, makeup, and eyebrows), the game goes extremely slow and choppy.

This seems to be a common issue, perhaps from later expansion packs. It does not seem to be linked to a specific graphics card or hardware setup, but has not been known to effect games with the base game or University only. It also seems to effect #3 when choosing eyes, but generally to a lesser degree. It does seem to be linked to number of downloads in those categories... if you have lots of custom accessories, makeup, and eyebrows, #4 will be very slow and choppy. Take out about half of your items in those categories and it will speed up by about half.

There is no known fix. When or if a fix is discovered, information will be posted here. This issue does not appear to be harmful in any way, just annoying.

Known workarounds:

  • Reduce the amount of items you have under those categories (glasses/accessories, makeup, and eyebrows - and eyes if #3 when choosing eyes is too slow) by deleting unwanted content.
  • Use Body Shop to create your sims, choosing as much of their content as you can in Body Shop. Body Shop does not appear to be effected by the same bug.
  • Learn to live with it.
