Ugh, that weatherstone. I thought it was a cool concept when it was announced, until I loaded up my game and it decided for itself where to put it (right next to the Criminal Warehouse, if anyone wants to know). It would have been a much better idea if they would have made it a build/buy mode item, so we could decide where to put it ourselves, (or not place it at all, if we decided that town wasn't magic oriented.)

Most of my big ones have already been listed (e.g. Nemiga's post), so I won't repeat them. One feature I would be glad never to see again is the bloody pillow fight! I hated it in TS2, and still hate it in TS3. Whenever I'm not keeping an eye on my sims they seem to be running outside to have a pillow fight in the rain. Does anyone actually pillow fight in real life??? The trait system needs a good deal of improvement too, so I hope not much of that is recycled. The only 'insane' thing about my insane sim is that she goes to bed in her swimsuit.... but my inappropriate sim does that too? I want insane sims to be genuinely bat-sh*t crazy, not just 'I'm going swimming in my PJs!' crazy.

I haven't played TS3 much because I prefer Sims 2, but there are some things in sims 3 that hopefully won't make a return in sims 4.

1. Rabbitholes. Work and school rabbitholes are fine; but when my sims go to a restaurant or a movie, I want to see them enjoying themselves. I don't want to see them disappear in a building and watch a progress bar until they return. I love the cute interactions in Sims 2 restaurants like feeding your date a bite of food, making a toast, holding hands, and blowing kisses. I was so happy when my sim graduated from high school, but was let down by watching her go inside the school rabbithole. I wanted to see her graduate. I wanted to see her dance with her date at the prom.
2. Story Progression: I can understand using it to keep all the sims in the neighborhood aging at the same rate as your active sims, but having babies, getting married or divorced, making enemies? I dislike story progression so much that I make a backup of all my saves just in case story progression ruins my sims' lives. I'm not a control freak, but I like to have more control over who my sims marry and when they have kids. I know you can turn it off and use mods like twalian's story progression (which I use) and awesomemod, but I'd rather not have it in sims 4.
3. The terrible romance / friendship system - One day, my sim's romantic interest thinks she's irresistible. The next day, he thinks she's only okay and won't even kiss her. Who came up with that? I liked the sims 2 system. If you had a crush, they felt the same way about you every day as long as you maintained the relationship. The same goes for friends and enemies. I don't know if there is a mod or workaround for the way sims 3 handles relationships. It would be great if a thing like that exists.

So agreed.

I was going to post that actually, I want to decide whether my sims should get caught cheating or not, and I should decide if I want my teenager to be arrested then scolded by the parents and actually forced to stand in the corner. What it should be is:
Actually have the police chase the teens, if they are in a quiet place with no one to see them, leave them the hell alone (And what's worse is standing two feet off the grass from your own damn house, and the police still comes and arrest them and the parent scolds them..)
And if a parent is scolding the teen, I want to control him and basically him to tell them to get lost and storm out of the house, even if the parent is still yelling at them, aleast you are controlling what they do.

And my teens are not juvenile delinquents because they are fishing at 4am in the morning where is there is no one at all, or standing on the grass right besides their home lot, trying to catch a cricket.

There really was not point in University' Social groups. But if you're gonna have them, don't spam me with messages on how my sim dropped in rank because they went a day without playing Frisbee. I'm soooooo sorry they have Jobs, school, and other needs that keep them from spray painting the wall tonight. What's that? They can't just do it tomorrow? They're gonna go down a rank on one of the most inconsequential social ladders I've ever seen? And you're gonna keep reminding me about it until they've completely lost all of their social influence or whatever the fuck it's called? Perfect -____-

My last one decided to pop itself up in that Spanish-looking resort in Isla Paradiso (La something, the one near the cliff) and my poor simmies cant even use it without checking in...

I hope Sims 4 doesn´t have those ugly old cars infesting roads.
Parties system is very poor. No one gets fun.
Bars close too early and teen sims can go out after 10 p.m. Nor with their parents, nor at weekends.
Clothes are very very annoying, specially men´s clothes and children´s. Big lack of taste from EA.
Sims are allways running and pregnant sims walks on a very strange way.
Even with the maximum autonomy, sims are too quiet. They take too long on start doing something we comand to do.
On a date, when sims go eat, many times they seat on different tables. Too silly...
At home, sims act like as if doesn´t know their family as well as on community lots.
Zombies and ghosts are dispensable. I can´t get the interest on playing with them (at least to me).

That's mildly better than a CHILD sim (who was most definitely a child as he had just aged up a few days before and was an imaginary friend turned real, so it's easy to keep track of his age) having to walk out of their own home (he was seriously in his room playing with his toys when the cops showed up for a prank I don't even remember him pulling and he had to go outside), get in the police car, and have to go back IN to be scolded. Also not being able to cancel out being scolded for skipping school. ... while they were in school and had only been late therefore pulling them OUT of class to be yelled at and losing job/.class performance because of it.

What kind of brokenass system.

I wish there was a similar thread about TS2 stuff you don't want back, the social bunny (and the doctor) would be on top of that list. Unfortunately it doesn't seem I'm getting my wish

Naaah, the social bunny and therapist were cool. Although saying that, I did prefer the TS1 tragic clown to the social bunny, plus my bunnies are bunnygirls. But I would like to see the Apartment Life free gifts gone (I like free money, but seriously, how often do you get given a free flat screen TV!?), Mr Humble gone (again, I like the free PC but it's totally unrealistic) and not being able to take toddlers and babies to community lots without masses of mods gone. Oh, and the social worker for bad grades needs to GTFO and removed children shouldn't lose their family ties. I don't want an adopted kid being able to romance their biological siblings/parents because the game decided they were no longer related, ew.

I'm neutral on the Social bunny, but their are plenty of things that I don't want back from TS2. I had lots of mods for it also, just so I could play it the way I wanted.

Since they seem to be making 2.5, a thread for unwanted TS2 stuff would probably be more useful to the devs (if they're reading) than this one. Although it probably doesn't hurt to be specific about what we didn't like in both games. Just like how it would be useful to mention specific things that we liked in both games - but that would be a different topic.

I hope to never see another date meter again ever. Seriously, for all the griping about TS3 having rpg elements, TS2's timed escort mission/mini game/date system was probably the worst offender in that regard.

I think there's a difference.

Dating makes more sense in a life simulation that is focused on suburban/city dwellers, IMO. I know there are people who like to recreate Hogwarts or play medieval worlds or post-apocalyptic hoods, but let's face it, the Sims has always had a more contemporary suburban/urban vibe.

I don't think it makes the game feel like an RPG in a way that tomb raiding and collecting do.

When your sims are best friends but you make a flirty joke once and their your love interest.
Or if your sim is pregnant and your ex/one night stander is overjoyed to hear your pregnency announcements - it makes my storys very difficult. ...

I've seen plenty of people describe TS3 opportunities as 'rpg elements' even though they involve things like baking cookies for the school or delivering a painting to a neighbor, so it's not the 'feel' I was referring to but the game mechanic. And TS2 dates, with their timed meter and the mini-game of trying to please your date before that clock runs out is a similar mechanic to timed quests in RPGs.
And, even if you absolutely will not accept the comparison of a TS2 date meter to an rpg timed quest, it still is a crappy way to play a date, and not very sandboxy.
