So who IS original in Hollywood, anymore?

Everyone is a carbon copy off of somebody.

Who even really cares?

If you don't like a particular artist, don't rant to us about why YOU think WE should think that particular artist sucks, and why you shouldn't like them.

End of.

2.) She's a whore (or at least portrays herself as one)
3.) She has no genuine talent and does not belong in a music industry

I saw a vid from 2005, she is a very good singer n keyboardist, but here is how I feel, that woman with that voice and talent is dead. Why should girls expect to be treated any different from her, when we support people like that? I can't wait for her to die of STDs. Of course I've always been told that listening to things like that send you to hell so....I hate my parents

Or maybe "Whore of all whores" should be her name lol I can't believe we have people on this planet who support such trash. I guess "It takes a whore to appreciate one" is the best explanation for now...

I'd rather wear one of those Muslim shawls than run around looking like a sex-object.

I've been brought up to think that, but the best person I know listens to her. I also didn't keep my mouth shut, she got her feelings hurt, told her hubby, her mom, told my grandparents, told my parents. She ain't no whore. obviously, I am still confused as heck, she never did answer any of my questions. But I love her none the less. I hope to see her soon so maybe we can talk ans smooth this over. Now, her mom... Ugh... I wouldn't be crying if I never saw her again. All she ever does is remind me that I have a lung infection. But don't say that, my BFF is a nice person, a kind person, I love her more than anything. Don't be like me, let it go.

For the record, you can't spell GaGA without Gag.

For everyone saying she's a whore: She's not any sluttier than anyone else in the music industry.
Well, maybe a few of them.
But honestly, she's just...I dunno...more OPEN about her sexuality.

And she does have talent. I realize that she doesn't really show it that much, but she can sing when she tries to.

And how old are some of you? Because you don't sound too mature, calling people whores, when they don't even fit the definition.

Didnt she used to be Madonna ?
She'll get rich, have some puppies and calm down. Shock-value sells. Today pissing off the world tomorrow singing unplugged with talented musicians from other genres...maybe the Chieftains She is raking in the green doing what she does.

A slow soulful rendition of Pokerface with the Mormon tabernacle choir and Ravi Shankar on the sitar maybe nice.

You have a distorted perception of both maturity and the definition of a whore if you can not see that this woman is full of fornication.

A whore is a person with no respect for their own body, they will flash it to anyone who comes hither. They will spread their legs for anything that moves. Lady Gaga fits that description, as she has shown throughout her music videos and lyrics. Do you?

Haha... "full of fornication"? I don't even know what that is supposed to mean, but it doesn't sound like a bad thing at all!

She just seems to be emphasising/ridiculing the current standards of the pop industry, and for that reason she deserves more respect than every other pop artist who uses their sexuality to get publicity.

Her music is boring, and playing a bizarro character has been done before, but what she is doing is a reflection of what society is today.

So as a wise man once said... don't hate the playa, hate the game

Actually, I went and saw her live last winter. She can actually sing. and trust me, since I've memorized all of her songs on all her albums, I can tell when she's lipsyncing and not. She has a great voice, she's not perfect. But she can sing. She has a good talent without using Autotune.

Lady Gaga is disturbing. If you listen to her lyrics you'll see that they aren't half bad. Her videos, however, are completely over the top and all around sex.

Isn't that what humans are? Humans are basically supposed to reproduce before they die, right? Correct me if I'm wrong... but that's how species continue multiplying without dying out. So if she wants to make a show of it, an over the top big fat show about it, she's really just representing what animals' purpose is... "all glammed up".

Exactly. Whether they want to hide in a hole about it or stick a sign out of their forehead that says "I'm straight". or "I'm gay" or "I'm a minotaur-eating space pony who likes making sandwiches" - who cares, seriously? They're just celebrities. Most of us don't know them personally. They're basically entertainment for us, yeah?

I'd like to point out that there has been music about sex since the inception of music. It has varied in its explicitness, but explicit songs didn't just start popping up in the past few years. Just a bare handful of more recent (relatively speaking) examples:

-"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" by Roberta Flack: A very beautiful, melodic piece, that is nonetheless about sex. I think that it represents the beauty of sex very well.
-"Hey Jealous Lover" by Frank Sinatra: A song about being unfaithful to one's significant other.
-"Physical" by Olivia Newton-John: Do you really need to ask?
-"Love in an Elevator" by Aerosmith: The line "livin' it up when I'm goin' down."
-"Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley: The lines "remember when I moved in you/and the holy dove was moving too/and every breath we drew was Hallelujah."
-"Fields of Gold" by Sting: "In his arms she fell as her hair came down/among the fields of gold"
-"Angel of the Morning" by Juice Newton: It's about a one-night stand.
-"You Shook Me All Night Long" by AC/DC: Need I say more?
- A whole slew of Beatles songs

Music expresses emotion and there is little that people are so emotional about as sex. If you went back through the history of music, you would find countless songs about sex and romance, some of them quite explicit. Lady Gaga is nothing new in that regard.

Thongs are gross when some douche though that a wedgie undy was hot.

As for "there has always been music about sex", Yes, but...
BITCH? ASS? Vertical Stick? It ain't fun if it aint rough?
There used to be some decency in how you put these things. In the 1700's they had songs with suggestive lyrics, but never once did they curse or talk about a guys penis or a woman's hymen (cherry cherry BOOM BOOM ). What's her next song gonna be? Get Deflorated?
Or talk about STDs as a good thing.

Utada has writen song called "making love" and never said anything like that. Once she "during my nine to five, I'm thinking 6 and nines" but in the context of the song, she's talking about how it's wrong to think of that guy as hers, as her Piece of meat. Some of her stuff is suggestive "gitty up baby let me give you my love", if it were 'GAG'-A it would be "jizzy up baby jizzy up baby let me give you my F***" or something like that.

Gaga can sing yes, but she rarely does so.

It's just like in movies, 9 times out of 10, you don't have to have nudity. use sheets, fog, steam, arms, towels, but you can always not show anything.

Hey, my BFF and her mom like gAGA so, they'd better not complain about my "colourful metaphors, her mom.... Let's just say, I blame not the daughter, but her mother. My BFF doesn't know any better, her mom does. Her mom has no self respect, or respect for guys, or sex, or love. If she can listen to that, she can't.

Moddanna? Material Girl is all I like.

I do manga, yes there is cursing, yes there is sex. But, only baddies/misguides curse, and the sex is for love, not lust, no geny-ties are shown. And shows what I've always said, There are people out there wishing, praying to get pregnant who can't. Gaga loves things that let "cock hoppers like herself, with less cash, get abortions.".

On a side note, at this point her "beautiful vagina" is probably a pitri dish, eaten alive withg the most horrid diseases known to slut/manslut-dom.

and I know it's cleche, but I don't hate her, I pity her. Sex is just another thing for her to do because she has no self value. She thinks sex is about getting pleasure, not giving it. And she gets love and lust criss crossed.

First off, you're extrapolating something far more vulgar than what is in her lyrics. She doesn't generally come right out and say it when she's talking about sex. She'll make reference to body parts, or that she likes it rough, but she's not sitting there describing sex.

And as to your friend and her mom, listening to explicit music doesn't mean that you have "no self respect." It doesn't mean that you objectify men (or women), or that you are easy, or anything like that. I listen to some explicit stuff and I've never had sex before. I know plenty of people who are the same.

While I think that sex for love is generally preferable, what is objectively wrong with lust? If it's not hurting anybody, I don't see a problem.

I would like to know what music you listen to. Just curious. Because apparently you are completely shocked that she swears.
And, also, let's get our facts straight. In Bad Romance, she isn't saying "vertical stick." She's saying "vertigo shtick".
And in Pokerface, the correct line is "When it's love, if it's not rough, it isn't fun."

Co-sign!

Well, except for the never having sex part. I'm 29.

I like Lady Gaga. Yes, its not the most "thought-provoking" music, but who doesn't LOVE a good beat every now and then? Some days I like to listen to music that makes me cry, some days its to inspire me, and every now and then I like to let loose. When I'm out flirting with the boys and shaking my booty (hey, you're never too old for this) I think I'd prefer something like LoveGame over My Heart Will Go On.

I don't think Lady Gaga ever intended for her music to be so deeply analyzed. Its fun. That's all!

I'm not being argumentative but...
"don't think to hard, just thrust that kick", to me is describing sex.

Lust, in it's way, is disrespect and greed. I think. Forgive me, for all my hatred of religion, I still think in extremely spiritual senses. If for no other reason, studies show, sex with someone who you are in love with, rather than someone using a pick up line and going to a room (gaga's is actually "I wanna take ride on your disco stick", Where have I heard that before?), is more satisfying, and often is more pleasurable. Or at least that's what I've heard.

This from a lonely virgin who isn't allowed to date, and no known time in site. (damn parents)

I prefer songs that are about not being easy/not putting out. For instance Don't Say You Love Me.

I just hate how I can't get away from her!

I would listen to this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM51qOpwcIM
I've never looked, has she put these on any of her albums? I might (free) download it. I won't put money in her pocket, even my Friend admits that.
