Default Will the Censor Blur be removable? If so, will you use what it takes to remove it?
I, for one, actually need the censor blur - not for purposes of looking at a barbiedoll naked sim, but simply because of the fact that I get migraine headaches from time to time, and one of my pre-headache signs is that I get a blurry spot in the center of my vision in both eyes, which I cannot see around, and the "censor blur" in the game is very similar to the effect I get. No matter which direction I look or how I move my eyes, the blur is there in the same field of my vision. The censor blur in the Sims is VERY reminiscent of what it looks like when I'm going through that. Therefore, I cannot stand to look at those blurred up pixels on my computer screen!

I know that may sound like a weak excuse to some people, but I guess it's really just the way my brain works - just like I can't stand the taste of spearment gum and some peppermint flavors, because that was the same minty flavor of the migraine pills I had to take several years ago when I lived in a state where I was allergic to a type of tree that grew there, and the allegery triggered migraines for me all the time. So I had to take this awful pill that I had to place under my tongue and it would make me want to throw up. Therefore, I associate the flavor of spearment/some peppermints with the desire to throw up! Gross, I know!

So back on subject, that is why the censor blur removal is so important to me. I could care less what a naked sim looks like, but I have heard that the censor blur covers even a larger area this time than it did in the Sims 2. As much as I'm looking forward to the game, I just cannot stand the thought of having to look at those blurry pixels, making me feel like I'm getting ready to have a headache come on. It hurts my eye, literally!

Will they be able to do that pretty easily? Will it take a back seat to other types of mods they create? I'm hoping it is one of the first they do. Until then, I will have to make sure I don't see my sims when they take their showers or pee (which is really silly to have it on that one anyway since they don't even pull their pants down! Geez! ).

What is your opinion on this?

Someone has made one already.

I agree. The censor blurring is like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. Not to mention that the idiots who put it into the game inthe firstplace covered up some cute animations with it. With the blur on, you couldn't see the toddler pat the side of his potty chair when he was using it. The blur covered up almost all of the baby when it was being bathed in the sink.

I don't care for distortions in the visuals of my game. A censor blur removal hack will be the first thing I download for the game when the modders can find a way. I am over 50 and I think that gives me the perogative to choose whether or not I look at naked barbie doll pixels.

Editied to add--thanx Inge.

Dunno if we're meant to link to stuff in this forum. It will certainly be announced somewhere cos everyone wants something like this.

Ah, thanks Inge!

Yeah, Angel, I don't want to look at that! I haven't seen any screenies of it yet, I just remember one of the fansites saying something about having a "HUGE censor blur" and I hadn't really thought about it until I saw that! I've gotten so used to playing my Sims 2 without one.

Even if there's a hack for it already, I'd want to make sure it's perfectly airtight before implementing it. The first hack that was created for TS3 caused major, game-breaking problems. And even so, blurry things don't give me headaches, so personally the mod would be purely cosmetic and superfluous. Those're just my feelings though.

I don't have as good a reason to get rid of the censor blur, but I'm definitely getting that removal hack as soon as I find it to be ready for when the game comes. I hate that. It breaks immersion even more than 'barbie doll bodies'.

I wonder if anyone will make anatomically correct skins and meshes to remedy the Barbie bodies? Dumb question, they probably will. Pervs. XD j/k

I will, but mainly because it can mess up otherwise adorable screenshots. Such as a mother bathing her child, etc. ;P

I do admit, it can break the feel of story-pictures.

It's good to hear that there's a hack for it already. The blur hurt my eyes and makes my double vision act up, then i won't be able to see.

Agreed. Other thing you can't see because of the blurry thing is the toddle at potty time. I saw a pic of the TS3 one....it's HUGE!!

Just don't ever have your Sims bathe, take showers or use the restroom. Problem solved!

You could remove the blur in teh base game in TS2 there was a cheat code for it. Hopefully that will still be there in TS3

Didn't that crazy "I hate video games" lunatic throw a little hissy fit and demand that they disable that cheat code? Or something? I swear some loser threw a tanty and changed all that. "Naked sims in video games? OH NOES! Now do excuse me while I go access my porn collection, which is readily available to me on the internet" >.> Tackle a REAL issue moron.

Haha I'm telling off a guy who may not even exist. Go Jenn!

He's real, Jenn, though not sure he's why they removed the code. His name is Jack Thompson. He used to be a lawyer, but got disbarred for his antics last year. He coined the phrase pixelante, and believes video games can teach kids how to be killers. (Not just encourage aggression, but actually teach them how to do it.) Look him up in Wikipedia, it's worth the read. 'Lunatic' doesn't begin to describe him.

I'm not removing it. Not beucase I m disturbed by pixel nudity, but becuase I can't stand the idea that they use the toilet with their clothing on. At least with the pixels, I can pretend they remove their clothes. So, untill there's a take your pants off - or be fully naked when using the toilet, it's staying.

I want the censor blur removed and not because I'm some perv. It looks bad - if they have to blur it don't show it - it's stupid to make those sceens and blur them out. The game is not rated for little kids and they see way worse on tv on any given day. I don't care if they pee thru their clothes as long as it's not a blurr. I also like baby pics of bath time in the sink or potty training.

Agree with you, if you have seen it in real life once you don’t want to see it in a game, had been nice to only have the blur removed then showering.

i don't have medical reasons to remove the censor blur i just simply find it annoying... it's just barbie doll skin anyway... if barbie dolls r ok for kids to play with y can't we watch barbie sims sit on toilet seats?? i mean they went through all the trouble to put the animation there but at the same time block it with a blur...
