This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Where to put downloaded Colleges
I've found some colleges/universities that I want to put in my folders. The install instructions told me that I have to extract them to a specific folder (QU01 or QU02) but I can't find them in the neighborhoods folder. How do I install them so that they appear in the list of colleges to send my sims to? Is there a specific folder I'm not seeing other than the downloads folder?
I have downloaded and installed 1 of them once before and put it in the neighborhoods folder and it came up in the list of neighborhoods I can move families into.

I'm pretty sure you put them in here.

@Charity You have your email showing on that picture. Thought I would mention that in case you don't want it known.

The important thing to remember is the difference between the data files and the program files. Subhood templates always go in the program files. A lot of people don't read the whole file path and therefore are confused when they can't find what they're looking for in the wrong place.

Ok. Found it. The instructions I saw were 'Put the folder QU01 or QU02 into your "Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder.'"

I see. It helps so much when the creator gives good directions.

Ok. Somethings not right. I put the colleges in file path C:/program files (x86)/EA GAMES/The Sims2 Apartment Life/TSData/Res/NeighborhoodTemplate and they aren't showing up in the college menu. Is there a step I missed or could Chris Hatch's downloadable stuff pack T&A have something to do with it?
The Colleges if put in this file path are Quadington University & Land Grab University.

I believe that you have to do the same thing as one does when adding a new sub-neighborhood to the shopping sub-neighborhoods list. Click the botton that one clicks to add a new University and then choose the new ones that you want to add. That should work I think as long as you installed them in the correct place.

Downloadable colleges/universities go under University not Apartment Life. Try moving them to the following folder instead:

C:/program files (x86)/EA GAMES/The Sims2 University/TSData/Res/NeighborhoodTemplate

I tried that one first. When they didn't come up I went back to the install instructions (saw what I missed before) and saw that it said newest expansion pack, so the file is currently in 2 files.

There are some mods that would go in the newest expansion pack, usually in TSData/Res/Catalog or TSData/Res/Catalog/Bins. Neighborhoods always go only in specific folders - never just whatever is your newest pack.

I see that you're trying to install Quadington University. Make sure that you have the right files.

QU01 and QU02 are base neighborhoods (one already has sims and one doesn't). These can just be dropped into your Neighborhoods folder and will show up as normal neighborhoods in your main neighborhood chooser that you see when you first load the game. These will work just like any other base neighborhood (Pleasantview, Strangetown, etc.) and will NOT function as universities unless you have specific mods to make them work as universities.

My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods

UQU1, UQU2 and UQU3 are the University versions (you don't need all three unless you actually want all three) - these should go ONLY in the University folder that I posted before. These are the ones that will show up in your list of Universities on the University chooser and will work like the Maxis university campuses (Sim State, La Fiesta Tech, Académie Le Tour).

Program files (x86)/EA GAMES/The Sims2 University/TSData/Res/NeighborhoodTemplate

The following locations/paths are for the various types of downloadable neighborhoods on a disk-based game on a Windows machine. The paths would be a bit different for the Ultimate Collection - see Charity's screenshot in post # 2. I know nothing about Macs or how their file structure would be set up.

I solved the problem. It appears to be working now. I went back to the file path for Sims2 University and found that I took the file path 1 folder too far. When loading neighborhoods, the select all has been taken out of setting up everything in the hoods when loading colleges though.

I'm glad to hear you got it working. Regarding the college select button - do you have Mootilda's "Fix Subhood Selection" mods? If not put them in your game (at least the one for universities) and it should fix that problem. The attached screenshot shows my long list of university campuses and the "Add remaining" entry at the bottom so I could dump all of them into the neighborhood if I wanted to.

Mootilda's "Fix Subhood Selection" mod is here. These files go in your Downloads folder just like most other mods.
