Help! Huge Noob To Mts!!
Hello! I need guidance and help!

I recently decided i wanted to further my knowledge in making custom content, custom worlds, and editing EA / other users work (obviously not uploading the latter without credits) but am so in over my head. There is so much information and so many places to look for so many tutorials *

Can anyone please direct me to specific tutorials for GROUND ZERO USERS WHO LITERALLY KNOW NOTHING?

(for example & your entertainment:
today I learned what CAW was and S3PE .... and MTS )

So.. literally anything helps. If I could be directed to forums where some of you went when you were fresh-out-of-the-womb-beginners, or lend me any advice you may have, id be so grateful!

more specifics about my general confusion and inquiries:

I have no clue how to download an EA world (appaloosa plains - downloaded from CAWSTER) so that i can open it on s3pe, which from what I gather, is an important step before loading the world onto CAW. Tutorials I have read glaze over this, as if an automatic conversion takes place? Am I missing a program? Do I need to convert a .rar file so that it will be .world? Or is it a faulty link, and is there another recommended site?

I also would love to learn more about how to make custom careers, or, if I can not figure it out for myself... download from other users who have created them. Does anyone have links or forums they can direct me to?

* I have found old tutorials for old versions of Windows regarding CAW, where file locations are in different places, but my knowledge where the files should be on new windows versions is very bleak.

eh, I mean we all started somewhere! So it's better to get to know about it now than throughout the process!

To begin with, the version of windows really doesn't matter on CAW's performance or SuperCAW's performance or anything like it. The only thing you have to be concerned about is whether CAW/SuperCAW is compatible with your game's version. So if you have the latest patch from origin, probably 1.69. If Steam and anything else, it's 1.67.

Now to start somewhere, google will always be your friend! We also have quite a bit of tutorials here on the site: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php...3_CAW_Tutorials

I'd also recommend to check out the CAW section of the Create forums for any tips.

You don't need to download a world from EA. Just start in CAW straight from a big green square, or a desert square if you prefer. Just don't try with the biggest map first. Try as small as possible. CAW can be a bit of a hurdle and the bigger the map, the bigger the job and lag on your game.

You have to see how CAW behaves with your computer, so trying from scratch might be a good idea. You can then watch how your comp performes and take decition on size as you watch how it works. Make beta exports often and test how it performs in your game, because you might have troubles making exports and it's a sad end to a longlonglong project, if you can't make it run.

... and always remember: even if it crashes constantly, won't export or deveopes into a buggy hell, you might find a solution with some patience and hard work googling and testing. Good luck

Don't forget it's also possible that some of the tools may not work at all on your PC. They seem to be pretty picky about it. Doesn't matter if you have a 10 year old junker or a brand new rig, some tools will be totally on the new rig and on the old one. Nothing you can do about it as far as I know.
