Malibibic, I'm actually going to give you guys extra time for judging since I uh... kind of screwed up timing again. Social issues are getting in my way of putting the round up tonight, so I'm going to have to announce an impromptu extension of the round for another 24 hours.
Any entries entered by one second to midnight, Toronto time, Saturday November 24th will receive a single point deduction, but will still be judged and scored. (Judges, I'll handle the point deduction so just proceed as usual)
Again, sorry, but I got called in five hours ago for an interview tomorrow morning so I have not had time to do the round 5 write up. Only just remembered the round ended cause my phone reminded me (Yay for iPhones!). I'm sorry, I'm a terrible host, I love you all for being great. : D
<3 <3 <3
Oh and trust me... you guys will want the break before round 5.
EDIT: Solventpost, Buckley, thanks for the entries. Your entries will be marked at full points and I'm adding you to the chart now.

The hexagon room is fun. Wonder how people like to divide it
Edit: may I just point out that it's an irregular hexagon

Not that important, but just a note, it's not a 10x10. Just saying for those who maybe haven't placed it yet I added a 10x10 lot to my hood, then realized I needed a 20x20.

What's everyone's base cost when they place it? Not sure if it's jumping for me or if that's just because of location or normal or what.

Tamlyn, my base cost when I finished editing the lot was 2621 simoleons, but I didn't re-check it while in edit town.
Just a status update on judging, it isn't finished yet as our judges had a really busy weekend and we're getting into finals territory. Regardless, the scores will be in soon, I just wanted to keep you guys updated.

Haha. I totally know what you mean. I'm 26 and I only finished my (second) Masters degree 7 months ago but it's amazing how quickly I've forgotten the stresses of being a student! :-) Missing university makes me feel old too - but I hope to go back one day to do a PhD :-)
My scores are in to Reya, by the way :-) Sorry for the delay!

Thanks, Cece. Just wanted to double check because just with dumping the cheapest option for all the things I need I come perilously close to budget (well, when I say close, I mean I probably would have to use at least half the cheap stuff with my current setup). $10k would have been impossible!

ROUND 4 SCORES
Individual evaluations:
jones7659
I like the layout of this room – it makes sense as a study and I can totally imagine the musician playing guitar for a few friends who are sat on the sofa. There aren’t many books for a study, but I guess that a musician wouldn’t necessarily have a lot of books so that’s OK. I quite like the colour scheme but I’m not keen on the colour of the floor or the main walls – the floor is a bit too light for me and the walls look odd: what are they meant to be made of? Textured wallpaper perhaps? I love the accent wall though, it fits well in the room, and you did a good job incorporating all of Reya’s bits and bobs into the room as well.
The layout looks too symmetric, like it has been mirrored. The two same guitars and wall hangings placed so close together look too repetitive, I would love to see more creative chaos in the room. The colour scheme is nice and simple, I like your choice of wallpaper for the accent wall.
I like the layout, but middle of the room looks empty, with only rug. I think color scheme is too simple.
SeeMyu
Interesting idea! Making this room as a garage, with a garage door, is a nice twist and I can imagine a teenager’s parents giving them the unused garage as a kind of study/chill out room. I like the layout – it’s quite haphazard, in a way, but that works well with the theme of the room. The colour scheme is quite plain and muted – there are a few splashes of colour but it would’ve been nice to see some more in the décor. The walls and flooring work well together and as a garage and I like the way you’ve done the accent wall. All of the “fun part” objects fit in well with the room and don’t look out of place, which is excellent!
Nice job on the layout, the garage study idea is just plain awesome. The room looks very realistic and reminds me of some real life rooms I've seen. The wallpaper is a little off, it looks like a barn wall rather than a garage, but the colour scheme is really nice.
I like the idea of garage study and I like layout. I don’t like paintings that go one over other.
sionelle
I like the layout of this room. It makes sense as a study/skilling room and looks very practical, both for sims and in real life. I’m not too keen on the colour scheme – I don’t think that the white flooring goes with the rest of the room. I do like the bright colours though. I’m not too sure about the accent wall as I think it looks odd because the stripe bit just suddenly finishes – something with vertical stripes might have worked better. I also don’t like what you’ve done with the globe, it looks strange to me. The other objects fit in well though and don’t look out of place at all.
Very interesting use of colours and patterns. I like how they mix together, but I'm not sure if it's the right choice for a study, it looks a little too bright and colorful for it. The layout is good. I would also love to see a rug in this room, since right now the middle of the room is a little too empty.
Beautiful and modern. I especially like the table and wall colors.

Score readjusted to 38.00 due to late penalty
I quite like the layout of this room – it works well as a study and seems very practical. I’m not so keen on the colour scheme though – it’s very bust with all the star patterns on the walls and the rug. I don’t like the accent wall, it looks out of place with the archway pattern. I would’ve preferred to see it with a plain black with wood wall for most of the room and then the star pattern with wood for the accent wall, I think that that would have worked better and been less busy. A plain rug would have helped too! I do think that you incorporated all of the “fun part” items very well – none of them look out of place.
The wallpaper looks cute, but I don't think it's suitable for a study room, it looks like it would fit a kids room better. The colour scheme is okay, but you used many different wooden patterns and they don't really fit together even if they are the same colour. The wallpaper on the accent wall looks a little off too.
The room is too empty in the middle, rug is too big and not centered in the middle. Colors doesnt go very well together.
Laserai
I like the layout of the room, it seems practical and useful as a study. The colour scheme is quite neutral and bland but it does work fairly well – it would’ve been nice to have a bit more colour though. I don’t like the accent wall – having the main wall and the accent wall with such different skirting boards (baseboards) just looks odd to me – it would’ve been better if the skirting boards matched but the rest of the wall was different. All of the “fun part” items do fit well in the room both colourwise and in terms of the objects themselves.
I like the layout, it looks very simple and easy for Sims to navigate. The area with the globe looks a bit too empty, I would add another seating or other object there. The colour scheme is nice and the accented wall fits the room well.
It is nice and simple. I dont like wall lamps and they dont go very well with the rest of the furniture, especially with modern desk.
Zoeycuddly183
I like the layout, but you seem to be missing a door! Bit of a problem for your sims, surely?! Other than that it looks nice and seems very practical. I quite like the colour scheme too – very muted and plain with lots of browns but it works quite well, though it’s a little on the dull side. I like the accent wall – having the wood on the walls match all the way round but with different colour paint really works for me. All of the “fun part” objects fit well into the room and don’t stick out.
The colour scheme is quite random, many different shades of green and brown don't mix very well. The accented wall looks a little off, I would use a different wallpaper for it. The layout is good, I like how simple and cozy your room looks. Great choice of furniture.
Colors scheme is very nice. I dont like paintings above the sofa they looked too old fashioned for this room. I would add some wall decoration above chess table.
Amalgam81
I like the layout of your study – it’s very crowded and cluttered but it seems quite realistic and still practical for sims and real life. The colour scheme is nice too but rather busy. I would’ve preferred a plainer flooring to tone it down a little. I like the accent wall, it goes well with the rest of the walls and with the room in general. You’ve also done a good job incorporating the “fun part” items – nothing looks out of place.
You used so many objects in the room that it makes it look very cluttered, I am concerned how Sims are able to navigate the room. The colour scheme is very random, the flooring doesn't mix well with the rest of the room. The colorful statues look out of place, especially the red colour on them.
You have too much colors and patterns. Colorful wall, floor and carpet dont go well together. There is too much furniture in the room and it looks messy.
Volvenom
The layout is nice and simple and looks very practical. The colour scheme is OK – I like the green but the rest is a bit bland. I like the way the curtains coordinate with the accent wall but I don’t think that the accent wall works well with the other walls – it looks odd as the wicker matting stuff on the main walls doesn’t continue on the accent wall. I do like the accent wall, so it’s a shame you didn’t use different main walls. All of the “fun part” items fit well into the room but it’s a pity you used a different bookcase on the other side of the room rather than using another one or two of the compulsory bookcases, as that would’ve helped tie the room together.
I like the gerenal look of the room, it looks cozy and realistic. The colour scheme is lovely, everything looks matched and well composed. I like your choice of wallpaper for the accented wall, it fits the room nicely. The placement of furniture looks a tad weird, you could place the mirror and the seats closer to the walls.
I like the choice of furniture, color scheme and layout. The green wall is beautiful and looks great in this room.
Tamlyn
I like the layout of this room – it looks very useable and also nice. I’m glad you decided against the masculine, dark look for this room because I really like the colour scheme you’ve used! It’s nice and light and airy and the use of green accents works well. I like the accent room too – good idea to use the columns as a boundary between the two wall types, that works well. All of the “fun part” items fit well in the room and don’t look out of place at all. The way you did the bookshelves is very cool!
The layout is nice, I like how you placed the furniture, especially those bookshelves. The colour scheme could use some work, three different shades of wood in one room don't look right. The wood on the accented wall is lovely, but the wood on the floor looks completely off. You should stick to one type of wood in the future.
I like what you did with bookcases, great idea. I like the furniture and wall behind the bookshelves, but I dont like other wall and think it is not going very well with other furniture and decorations in the room.
Daluved1
I like the layout – the reading area looks cosy and it’s nice that it’s sort of divided into little sections – computing/reading/other – without using actual dividers, I think that it works well. The colour scheme is a bit bland and dull and the wood is very dark but the green does help lift it and it does work fairly well. I don’t like the accent wall – it looks like a weird cross between bricks/stone blocks and badly made wallpaper and I can’t quite work out which it’s supposed to be. I like the idea of a brick wall but I don’t think that this one was the right choice. All of the “fun part” items fit into the room and don’t look out of place.
The layout and the colour scheme are lovely, but the whole room looks quite dark. I would add more ceiling lights, the study room should always have plenty if your Sims are planing to read books in there. Besides that, everything else looks spot on.
I like the living area and bookcases. Furniture works well together, but your colors are too dark.
sharill63
I really like the layout – having the desk as the main focal point of the room works well and the skill items have their own little areas. It looks like a very useable room. I’m not keen on the colour scheme though – it’s very yellow and brown and I think it wouldn’t be too pleasant to actually be in a room like that. It would’ve been nice to see some plainer colours, maybe some cream instead of some of the yellow or a less yellowy/orange wood colour to tone it down a bit. I like the accent wall – using a brick wall is a cool idea and it fits in well with the rest of the room. The “fun part” objects all work well in the room and don’t look out of place.
Beautiful layout as always. The colour scheme looks too orange, you should use less brown, yellow, orange and red colours, it makes the room look like it has a color tint applied to it. Other than that, it's a lovely design.
I like the layout. You have too much brown color and it is not looking good. try use some more colors.
Buckley
I like this room! Interesting idea making it a fashion designers study and I think it works well. The layout is simple but practical and as well as having all the required items it also has the things one would expect to see in a study belonging to a fashion designer. The colour scheme is nice – very simple and quite plain but very striking and the pink accents really lift it. I like the accent wall – having the same skirting boards (baseboards) all the way round makes it fit very well with the other walls and it looks nice as part of the room as a whole. The “fun part” items all fit in well – I wondered how you’d manage the globe but it looks nice and coordinates well with the bookcase.
I love the colour scheme, monochromatic designs always look nice with one bright colour in it. The room looks a little empty, it could use some more furniture in it. The decorations are lovely and in general the room looks great.
Like this. Great idea. Colors are working very well together and everything is so modern. Even ugly bookshelf.
Menaceman44
I like the layout of this room – simple and practical, and I like the fact that there’s an armchair next to the bookcase, that would work well in real life as well as for sims. I quite like the colour scheme; it’s quite bland/plain but the blue accents are nice and really help lift the whole room. I’m not keen on the wall covering for any of the walls and it’s a shame that the wooden parts on the main and accent walls aren’t the same as it looks a bit odd. All of the “fun part” objects work well with the room and nothing stands out (in a bad way) or looks out of place.
The layout looks nice and simple, I like how you placed the furniture. The colour scheme is good, the choice of wood is lovely. The blue details look great, but the pattern on the accented wall is a bit weird. It would look lovely if you had used plain blue on it.
I think the blue color is not going very well with dark wood. Also your paintings are too modern and other furniture is old fashioned.
obviously394
I like the layout of this room but it would’ve been nice to have had a comfy chair somewhere for sims to sit and read. Maybe near the bookcase. I love the deco – good idea having the world traveller theme and you really made it work! The colour scheme is nice too, with the greens, browns and creams, and the colourful deco looks nice with it. I like the accent wall and it goes fairly well with the rest of the room. All of the “fun part” objects go well with the room and it looks nice as a whole. It’s a fun-looking study with all of the cool deco – reminds me of my ex’s aunt’s flat, which I loved, and I’m very fond of this room too.
The room is lovely, but the amount of decorations makes it look very busy and cluttered. I love what you did with the rugs. The choice of colours is great, they mix up together very nicely. The accented wall looks a tad out of place, I would use different brick pattern on it.
You have too much things in the room. I know it is a study of world traveler but it is a litlle too much. Dont mix styles.
StardustX
I quite like the layout of this room but it would’ve been nice to see more things at a 45 degree angle rather than flat against walls – like the easel, for example. The colour scheme is nice, very airy and pleasant and I like the general beach theme – pity you didn’t continue that theme more with the deco, but I liked the seashell paintings. I’m not keen on the accent wall – you kept the same paint colour but added a baseboard bit, I think that a consistent baseboard bit but with different pain colours would’ve looked less odd. The “fun part” items all fit well in the room and none of them look out of place.
I like the general look of the room. The choice of furniture is good and the colour scheme looks soft and neat. The accented wall could use a different wallpaper, the one you are using gets lost behind the decorations.
It is nice room. Colors are nice. I don’t like that coffee table is not in the center of the sofa and half of the armchair is in front of the wall, other half is not.
Solventpost
The layout of this room is nice and practical and it looks like a very useable room. There isn’t really much of a colour scheme and with the exception of the accent wall the room is a little bland and even the accent wall doesn’t really make up for that. I like the accent wall – having the same skirting board (baseboard) all the way round the room looks nice and consistent, I like it, and the colour’s nice too. Having the mirror and the plant behind that screen thing looks very strange to me, it would’ve looked much more practical without the screen in front.
I love your color scheme for the study. The red wall makes a nice accent in generally soft colored design of the room and it's not too bright. The use of decorations is lovely and the furniture is CAST'ed very well. The accented wall could use some wall hangings on it, as of right now it looks a bit empty.
I see big improvement here. Color scheme is really nice and everything is look really good. Good job.

Good job.

"...it’s a shame that the wooden parts on the main and accent walls aren’t the same as it looks a bit odd."
Looking at my entry on my current monitor the wood does look vastly different and I can see where you are coming from. Unfortunately for me, on the laptop with my game, the colours appeared to match much better. Ah well.
My pictures also seem a lot darker overall on this monitor.
Overall, some pretty positive comments though.

To comment on one feedback post: "I like the idea of garage study and I like layout. I don’t like paintings that go one over other."
The reason I had them overlapping was to bring out a display of that teen atmosphere. Teens like to be different, or.. I guess.. not like their parents, you could say. So, I tried to go against it. I just thought I should explain. Never in my life would I make one painting overlap another. That could be counted as a hate crime!
Thank you guys for the feedback! You're all fantastic!

Heeeeyyy I did better than expected. Yay!
I do agree about the dark woods. I wil take that into consideration in the next round!

Yet another difficult round to judge.
I appreciate all the feedback and understand that color is subjective. Personally, I like the warm colors and this is actually brighter than I usually make my studies. They usually have decorative wood paneling.
I can see that my wood is a little on the orange side, but the walls look creamy to me and blends well with the red.
One last round to go, judges! Keep up the good work!
