If you're looking for help with creating patterns, the place to post for advice is the Patterns section of the Creation Forum: http://www.modthesims.info/forumdisplay.php?f=595 . The forum where you've posted this, is for creators who are already working on a project to upload screenshots of their work-in-progress and ask for feedback on how to improve it.

But as long as you're here: You don't have to have the EA CAP tool to make patterns, you can also try Delphy's Pattern Packager (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=342998 ) or The Sims Resource Workshop (http://www.thesimsresource.com/workshop/downloads ). Tutorials on making patterns are here: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php...ls:TS3_Patterns . Good luck!

Moved to Sim3 3. Please change your title to something informative.

I don't think a pattern would be want you want for a mural, I think you want to create a whole new wall template. Patterns create small, 256x256 patterns to be used on whole walls. You should also be able to download GIMP to change the file type from bmp to whatever you want.

I really don't know much about patterns and/or wall templates (or the difficulty of a mural project in that form) but this project you're wanting to create would be very easy to do as a floor to ceiling wall painting with all the images, including a plain wall, in a single mesh. If you're interested in trying it that way I have a painting like that I've already made that I'm happy to share.

Also, many image editors (including Photoshop and Paintshop Pro) are able to change bmp files to other types...if you already have one you're familiar with I'd check out its capabilities before downloading GIMP if you aren't used to using it...it's quite possible you could avoid the pain of having to learn another and having to switch back and forth between editors.

As long as your editor can handle .dds files you should be good to go. You don't need to learn to make a mesh to make the mural you've shown above. This would go nicely on a flat painting that goes from floor to ceiling. If you like you can use my mesh, which is like that, to put your images on:

I wrote a very easy tutorial that shows how to put your own images onto EA items or custom content items and posted it here:

http://dino.drealm.info/den/denforu...php?topic=681.0

This tutorial will teach you to put the images of your mural onto the painting mesh and save it as a new object you can put in your game.

Making things for Sims 3 isn't easy but this project with the mural is probably about the best place to start. It will give you familiarity with the tools needed to get things into the game without requiring you to learn to mesh right away. Once you can do that you'll be ready to take on learning to mesh already a little more comfortable with getting something into the game.

Making clothes and accessories for this game is a whole different thing than making objects. I don't know of any comprehensive, up to date, tutorial for doing that or I'd post a link. Good luck...and if you have more questions post them here or in the tutorial thread

I just wanted to add, maybe you can make a mural by creating new wallpaper. Put your picture in wallpaper sections, placing them next to each other to form a mural. I used to create murals for sims 2 like that.
There's a tut here to make wallpaper for sims 3 .
