Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Is it ok to....
I hope this question makes sense: Can I take a pre-made hood's data and put it into a generic hoods folder and safely play itr?

Umm... I don't understand the question, but my guess is no.

I understand what you try to do.
But even if the generic hood can read those files, the hood or even the game might get corrupted. If you have an old computer where you don't need/want to play the sims on, you can try.
But I don't recommend it.

If you want all the original neighborhoods in one big happy neighborhood, you can try a mega-hood instead. They're usually much safer to play around with than a "I have no idea what I'm doing but I'll still DIY it" option.
Something like these:

(there are a lot of options, but Google wasn't much helpful. Perhaps someone who uses mega-hoods can share some good links below?)
Here's one way of doing it yourself (adding hoods as shopping districts), but it's not easy to do, so unless you have some SimPE experience and really want to try, I'd say it's safer to download one of the already made ones.

No you can not because what is in the generic hood and what you put in there will clash and corrupt the hood.
Never take files from one hood and place them in another this will break the hood and cause so much corruption if you even can get the hood to open.

Only the two hoods would be corrupted not the game.

It might help if you tell us what you're trying to achieve with this. Do you want to have one of the premade families in your own neighborhood? Unfortunately the only way to do this would be to extract their appearance, create sims that look like them and change their memories, relationships, etc to match the originals. Same with lots.

That's not entirely true: https://meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html
You can add all premade hoods as a shopping district to your main hood. With all premade families and lots included.
