Default Hoosier cabinet for sims?
I play 'modern' household/neighborhood usually, but it doesn't mean I don't want to see some old, antique furniture for our sims. Somehow I happened to see photos of this type of kitchen cabinet/workstation from web, I wondered if anyone made this for sims. So far, I haven't seen any of it yet.

I know this as a HUTCH (& I've seen called a side-board, but that typically does not have the top part), Never heard of a hoosier.

Stand up, speak out. Just not to me..

This link is about Zerographic(aka ZeroDark)'s recolors, and they are for decorative washstand(link to the real world thing), not kitchen hutch/standalone cabinet.

Well, looks like most of links above are about kitchen hutch, except Tinkle's(I wonder if it requires tons of OMSPs).

Sorry, I wasn't exactly sure what you were going for. Do you want more stuff like Tinkle's? Just trying to help...

It's not exactly like the Hoosier cabinet/hutch Google Images shows me, but grommit made a nice old-fashioned cabinet here and dimsim made nice recolours here. Maybe you don't have that one yet?
Sandy has a very colourful cabinet (again, not exactly the same) here and a rustic, more old-fashioned one here. This set has a part with which can be used with counters to make a hutch. This one is a little modern looking, with the white paint and the letters, but you might still like it. I think all of Sandy's buffet/hutches are purely decorative though.

Yes, the download is called washstand, but it's actually just a cabinet similar to what you're looking for. The bowl doesn't come with it.

I have no links to add, but am just here to edumacate Jo. A Hoosier is a nickname for an American who's a native of the state of Indiana. And the state's nickname is "The Hoosier state." As a native of the state of Indiana -- though I haven't lived there since I was 16 -- I myself am a Hoosier. Hoosier cabinets were made by various companies in Indiana, hence the name, and they were popular in the 1920s, before built-in cabinetry became a thing. The house that I grew up in had a large, lovely one, lots of storage capacity.

I'm mostly found on (and mostly upload to) Tumblr these days because, alas, there are only 24 hours in a day.

If you read the description of real Rennie Mackintosh's washstand, you can see it's not for kitchen. And I'm already considering to release my Goat wood recolors.
Anyway, if you have no idea what Hoosier cabinet is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoosier_cabinet
(don't worry, only a few months ago I heard about such kitchen furniture)

It seems like most of the links that have been given are to hutches, which aren't quite the same thing...though I suppose they'd work in a Sims setting where it'd probably just be decorative, anyway. I doubt you're going to find something as specific as an actual Hoosier cabinet. But maybe! So I thought I'd provide some more detail.

Hoosier cabinets were for kitchens and were functional, practical workstations, nothing really pretty or decorative about them. Originally, they were built on casters, so you could roll the whole thing around your kitchen, as needed. The casters were kind of delicate, though, and the cabinets were pretty heavy, being made of solid wood and all plus the weight of everything you put in them, so the casters didn't always survive for long. So, they often ended up being removed after a while. The one in my childhood home was made of solid maple (and still had its casters) and was designed specifically for baking, but different cabinets were made for different purposes. Ours had two big, integrated canister things with dispensers, in which you stored flour and sugar, so that you had large-capacity storage right at hand, and everything was kept neat and dry. They were kind of like the dispensers you see in stores that sell dry goods in bulk nowadays. The whole upright back of the thing was a pegboard that you could hang tools on like measuring cups and rolling pins and such to keep them organized and out of the way but within easy reach as you worked. It had a large wooden work surface that you used for kneading dough and such. Plus large cabinets underneath the work surface for storing your mixing bowls and a big washtub and stuff like that. It had smaller cabinets up above to store smaller items. Then it had on the side an integrated bread box and also a small pie safe kind of thing, little individual mini-cabinets with fine wire-mesh inserts in the doors. You put freshly-baked pies and other baked goods in there to allow them to cool without flies and such getting on them. It was a pretty awesome piece. I think my mom gave it to our Amish housekeeper when she sold the farm, since our housekeeper loved the thing to death.

Hutches and sideboards and whatnot are more for dining rooms and mostly for display (of one's good china, for instance) and/or as places to put serving dishes that won't fit on the table during a meal. So, not quite the same thing. But, as I said, would probably do in a Sims setting since all of this is likely to be just decorative, anyway.

The trouble with all of these is that they don't have counter slots, and there's no point to a Hoosier kitchen that you can't prepare food at. I have one (on the other computer in the other room, I'll have to go look for it) that I use in Retropleasantspot, but I have to use a counter OMSP and there aren't enough spots in the cupboard part to fill them up with clutter for the real look. I'd also, myself, really like one with the big flour bin, but that's not gonna happen, alas.

I know the links I provided weren't exactly Hoosier cabinets, or useful to prepare food, but the original poster also mentioned that they liked old-fashioned stuff so I hoped that they could still find some use out of it.

Some of it looks very nice, certainly. The Hoosier cabinet I'm using is called moxxab5flourcabinet, but a quick Google doesn't tell me where I found it.

I'm attempting to attach pictures, but the attach picture function doesn't seem to be working for me. I'll try again in a minute.

Meanwhile, Sunrader, after the debacle of tumblr's Crumplebot randomly deciding I was a porn blog I decided to try splitting original content onto separate sideblogs, to give any particular blog fewer rolls of the dice, and the Retropleasantspot one is here: https://retropleasantspot.tumblr.com/

It's only part of one rotation, though, since prior to that I'd been posting it to my main (penig.tumblr), with the tag "Retropleasantspot."

To make the decorative cabinets usable, you could use OMSPs:

Old thread, but I hope someone will still be able to use this. LydiaSuzanne converted a hutch from The Witcher here: http://www.medievalsims.com/forums/...?p=90164#p90164
And Riekus recoloured it here: https://riekus13.tumblr.com/post/17...nd-sideboard-by
