Default Vista? solved - new question
Hello. I've lend CS from my local library to check whether my computer can handle it before I buy it (it's not really cheap). Installation worked fine on Vista until 100%. But the game did not create any kind of icons. So there is no way to start the game. Tried it on a very old XP laptop and it worked, icon on desktop. But very old is very laggy and therefore very frustrating. So does anybody know how I can get it to work on Vista?

Ya you got to go find where it was installed to and make a disktop icon for it by right click on the .exe and send to desktop.
I have not used Vista in a long time or I would tell you where to go.

That's the problem. I found no .exe file in the system folder .. I have only the option to deinstall

How did the installation process finish? Did it report any errors, did it show "What do you want to do next?" screen, or did it just vanish?

Try and put the disk back in and see if the game will run. If the game runs then you need to find out where it was installed to and follow what I said in post #2, if the game wont start up then you have a bad install and you will need to try and un-install the game and restart computer and try to install again.

If this is a borrowed copy of the game hold the disk up to a light and see if you can see any holes in the disk or scratches that show light through.
A lot of lend/borrowed copies are damage by other who don't take care of them.

Sorry for not having replied earlier. Was too busy playing the game. So you see that I was able to start it I found an .exe in the TSBin folder
Already through the story line and now in free play. Stupid neighbourhoods with too few homes for the sims to live in -.-
But for the first time I've played a Sims game with weather  and pets who can have jobs

So, new question (don't think I need to open another topic?): can Sims have other pets than apes? I'd love them to have a jaguar

Sims in Castaway Stories can only adopt orangutans and hyenas. Although there are around 9 jaguars in Felicity Island, they do not show up during regular gameplay, and the rule of thumb says you shouldn't mess around with them then.

There are a few ways to add jaguars to a household (simple googling would do), but personally, I wouldn't recommend messing with something of that nature.

And if you're fairly new to the world of Sims, you could mind as well read the following articles on keeping your game smooth as possible, and avoiding corruption:

If you know how to use SimPE you can change most if not all the community lots to residential, I did it and left the 2 town-like lots as community lots.

I read in a post that Mootilda was able to clone some of the lots and placed them in the hood.

Thanks, DJ. I'm not new to the Sims. I'm still playing TS1 and TS2 regularly and had hood corruption in TS2 twice (in 2004 and in 2013), so I'm sceptic about google results. I rather rely on comments by experienced players here at MTS

marka93, I have moved the bin Sims in with the already existing households. It's a bit annoying with so many community lots and so few residential ones, but I don't use SimPE and don't plan to

That's a bummer. Changing the lot zone through SimPE is one of the easiest things you could do with SimPE - not to mention lots of lots (hehe) that are eligible of becoming a residence (The Jungle, The Scavanger Fields and The Crossroads, The Forbidden Village, Castaway Beach, Shady Lagoon....... so much potential!).

Does any one know how to flatten out around some of the lots using SimPE so the mountains don't interfere with the cameras.
I know how to do it in-game for the lots but that not what I want flatten, I want the surrounding area flatten out.

If you're shooting for something like modifyNeighborhoodTerrain on/off cheat from TS2 FreeTime... I think you're out of luck. TSCS doesn't allow anything to be modified in the neighborhood view - it even forces you to have 3 neighborhoods (Felicity, Wanmami and Tutorial) per user profile.

The only thing I could think of is to somehow implement Mootilda's HoodReplace... but then again, there's a high percent chance of crashing of HR - because I don't think Mootilda made any of her amazing tools compatible with TSCS (or any of the Stories series games whatsoever).

Yes you can use the Hood Replacer on both LS and PS, for CS a error pops up saying it is bigger than normal.
