This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Flickering | disappearing Objects, walls and mostly everything
Hey guys, I'm trying to resolve an issue I'm having with my the sims 2... Like, it was free on Origin and I was like "omg I love this game so many good memories" so I downloaded it and am trying to play it now. At first, I had the black rectangle shadow problem. With a little research I was able to solve it by setting my shadows to medium. Fine.
Now, what is really really bothering me is the objects and walls disapearing when I move the screen or some object. So I did a little digging again but could not find by any means the answer.
Them problem I'm having is pretty much this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve4uo_ox4w8
And the link people give with the answer isn't available anymore (how frustrating). Plus, I saw some people comment on many foruns that the game may be "damaging your computer" (here, for example, a guy says that: http://modthesims.info/t/529402) so I got a bit worried.
I don't really understand this stuff, so how can I tell if the game is "safe to play" (i mean... for my computer, poor old thing).?

My specs:
Computer: Razer blade 14" (2014)
PC CPU 2.2GHz Intel Core i7-4702HQ
PC memory 8GB 1,600MHZ DDR3 SDRAM
Graphics 3GB Nvidia Geforce GTX 870M
Storage 256GB SSD
O.S.: Windows 10 home

Plus.. about the flickering: My "smooth edges" is greyed out, so I couldn't change that. I got to this answer here:

"Rundown for people still having this problem:

1.) Go to the link mentioned in the comments---or here: http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446
Even if you have windows 10, it'll help. No need to download the Graphics Rules Maker if you have UC as it doesn't really work well with it.

2.) Read through steps 1-4 carefully. If your resolution is the default smallest it can be, don't worry about it, as that can be fixed easily later (google). If your coastline has blocky water as well, that can be fixed just as easily, but not right now. Also---it was at step four that I realized my Anti-Aliasing/Smooth Edges weren't on; if they aren't on for you, odds are this is your problem.

3.) Follow the quick instructions here: http://stsims.weebly.com/smooth-edges-greyed-out.html
Instead of searching for "enumerateMultisampleLevels", search for just "samples". The first way didn't work for me, but you'll find what you're looking for with just "samples" as well.

4.) Start your game and slide Smooth Edges up to More.

And that's it. Hope this works for other people B)"

But I'd like to first know the game and my computer are compatible and that it will not damage it.

Could anyone help? I apreciate it

-----------------------------------------------[EDIT]-------------------------------------------------------------------

For further reference about the flickering issue:
I was able to solve it thanks to you guys here is what I did:
Since I've dowloaded the full game with all the extentions from origin, I had no idea which Graphics Rules.sgr to change. I have an text editor named Atom (love it, recommend it) which made my life easier.
So, baby steps for newbies:
I entered the Sim 2 path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection
I searched for the file "Graphics Rules.sgr" and came up with 33 results.
I opened all of them with Atom: Open atom, select all files from the search and drag + drop into atom.
I searched for (crtl + F) "boolProp enumerateMultisampleLevels false" and replaced with "boolProp enumerateMultisampleLevels true" (I used the "replace all" function, saved me a lot of time)
Run the game, now smooth edges will be available set to "more" and all is good!

I hope this helps someone with the same problem someday, xoxo <3

Well, in the thread you linked to about a graphics problem, iCad says that person is damaging their computer because their computer has integrated graphics that are not powerful enough for the game and it is frying the graphics card.

If your computer is powerful enough to run the game, don't worry about it damaging your computer.

I have similar flickering problems with a NVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti, so pretty close to yours. After experimenting a bit with the graphic options I found that disabling reflections helped a lot, as did using smaller lots in general. My computer has not been fried so far.

If I understand your question correctly - you have a Razer Blade gaming laptop like the ones on this page (https://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade) and you want to know if you should be worried about the problem posted here (http://modthesims.info/t/529402).

Your machine is not likely to have the problems mentioned in that post because that person was running a very basic computer that really didn't meet the minimum requirements to run the game. As a result, their computer was being overstressed and became overheated, causing the problem in that thread. Continually demanding too much from an inadequate computer will damage it eventually.

Your Razer Blade is much better suited to running resource-intensive games and you will probably not have to worry about such problems. It is still a laptop though, and even gaming laptops can still have cooling problems. I had a 6 year old Toshiba Satellite that finally overheated and died last year - it was a multimedia machine and not really intended for gaming, but still had decent specs and ran Sims 2 well if I was careful to turn down the settings and limit my CC. I should have done a better job keeping it clean - the vents ended up clogged with dust and I'm pretty sure that was a big factor in its death. Make sure you have good airflow around your computer. Set it on a hard surface like a table or lapdesk to prevent the vents getting blocked and make sure to clean it every now and then. Other than that, your computer should do fine.

There is a mod available to fix the sims' shadows.

If you ever decide to try playing The Sims 3, be sure to get a framerate limiter. Sims 3 apparently has a bug in it where the framerate will run very high and potentially damage your graphics card.

Your link 1.) for Leefish is an excellent place to find info, read their instructions, post your info and someone will respond once they read it. I know nothing about windows 10 as I've fought to keep it off my pc. (:
