I'm really glad you all liked the contest, I enjoyed hosting it. :D
Just an update: I now have scores from 2 of the judges so I will start putting scores across to my sheet, but I am busy now since it is now a new school term and during the week, so it will take a few days.

Hey just a heads up since a few people have commented on my hot tub in my church to me. Here in the South, in churches it isn't uncommon to have a huge garden tub type thing for baptisms, Well we don't have a gigantic garden tub thing for baptisms in the Sims, that is big enough for two people, so I used a hot tub for a baptismal font. I was actually baptized in one very similar to the hot tub, and my daughter was too. My romantic thing was actually the wedding arch. I guess I didn't think to explain because it is so ingrained in my thinking that people would get its presence in a church, that I didn't think to write an explanation!

That's funny, because I'm up North and I understood it instantly. It was very clever to use that for baptism.

I am SOOOO excited!
I was thinking about all the things I've learned thanks to the competition like not using auto-roofs, painting recolours and not using pink carpet on ceilings lolBut this got me thinking what else could I try to learn? So I thought meshing would probably be too hard but what's to lose?
I don't know if any of you spin (I think Peni mentioned that she sews) but I have a favorite spindle made from ancient bog oak and thought my self sim should have it too so I dug into wings 3d, uv mapper etc and came up with this
I would never have even thought of trying if not for the competition. You've made a monster!

Oh my... I can't even imagine doing them all over. Since you don't drink (I don't either), you may find comfort in a strong cuppa joe, tea or some hot chocolate then!
However, if it is as warm where you are as it is here in the Mitten state... you may find comfort in a cool glass of (strawberry) lemonade instead.

I don't 'drink' either, doesn't mix with my medication. I will however take a nice mocktale of lemonade, strawberry juice and mint. I had one a few days ago, yummy. :D
I am going to try to get these scores over today-just hard during the week.

I've finished my house for Jim Evans the Olympian. It's not a contest entry -- not even a play-along entry, and it doesn't use one of Jo's foundations, but in other respects it meets all his requirements and wants, and I intend to post it in the same way as an entry (a bit like I did with the hippies' trailer). It is a modern house, with the "required" object, and lots of opportunities to build his body skill. It's also the first building in which I've used CFE, and at over §128K, by far the most expensive residential property I've ever built. Andrew, my MD, says it's a ridiculous amount to spend on house for a single Sim, but "If the client's prepared to spend that much, we'd be mad not to build it for him!" I've now taken all the "required" pictures, and, all being well, he'll move in tomorrow.
Please don't close this thread before I've posted! It's taken me longer than I expected.

Here we go, scores for the final round. :D
Note from Judge 3: General Note to all contestants: Sims will want to throw bottles away, it is a good idea to have a trash bin/compactor in or very near the parenting room.If anyone can prove that they did have a trash bin/compactor in or very near the parenting room and I just missed it, you can give them a .5 back to playability.

Comments: The look of front two building that are connected is very attractive. Your museum is a gorgeous little area, the library is good too, the cafe is cozy, and I dig how you used the pool tool in front of the stage for aesthetic purposes. I freaking love your rooftop jaccuzzi area; I would get my flirt on there! Since this is the last round I am getting pretty nit-picky so bear with me: you have too many window/door options going on. 6 different types of windows on the front two buildings that are connected, and so probably should keep consistent styles of windows and doors on the unit as a whole. I love that the playground is right near the parenting room and the fencing with the see-through glass looks really nice surrounding it. I notice you don't have a trash bin in the parenting room though, which can be annoying for sims routing wise, if they have to go across the lot to the grilling area to throw a bottle away. The photobooth looks odd outside and placed on the grass, maybe put in some walkway tiles to and under the object to remedy that. I would also suggest using some terrain paint to make the outside eating area a little more foot-trafficked since you already have that with the playground. Overall it's a nice place for community activity, just keep vigilant on the details.
Jo: I love the black bird sitting on the connecting roof, cute. I like how it connects, would have made a good walkway between the two sides with railing and a doors. Also like the children's library. Total 69

Comments: A pool is a great community gathering place. You have a funky asymmetrical shape going on there with the larger one, but I love the hot spring island! I love how you put infant wading bath/square pools in the kiddie area so they could have some water fun as well. It would have been ambitious but fun to see you pull of a lazy river or some other type water fun. The playground is nice and I like your thought to use the terrain paint to show how the ground areas underneath are a bit more traffic heavy. All that being said, I wish you would have applied the same thought to the entrance as that is pure green with no kind of terrain paint to denote a heavy footpath area, and I would think it would be because it's the entry point and there are the lockers and changing rooms there. Apologies in advance for getting into my more stern-sounding judging shoes but the build structures don't seem very inspired; the bathrooms don't really work as pool bathrooms when there are two open showers next to each other in front of the sink. You could have used half walls to make semi-open stalls or somehow built more space and divied it up for toilets, showers, and sinks instead of it all being open, maybe added some mirrors. I don't see any lights indoor or outdoor from the pictures, and I assume this place is open at night since you mentioned that in the hot tub picture. I think the stonework tile around the pool should have extended toward and around the hot tub because it's odd plopped on the grass with no surface treatment. The privacy aspect is really nice though over in the corner of the lot behind some fencing. I don't understand why you used the boardwalk foundation to surround the little bit from the starting template, it looks weird and inconsistent and probably would have looked better as full foundation to match. The food area looks fine on that type of foundation because it's consistent, I also like that it is elevated. I do not see what would fullfill the educational requirement. Maybe put a small trash bin in the parenting room so they can throw away bottles without walking to the entrance, or shades on the windows since you have unlimited budget and go to town with decorating! I suggest going back in with a new eye for detail to spruce it up and make it the best it can be
Jo: Your centre looks like a fun place. My main suggestion would be to use more terrain paint under plants and the entranceway since in high traffic areas the grass often gets worn down to dirt if there isn't paving. I like your sandpit area. Total 61.5

Comments: I'm digging the rustic-ness of this community lot. I think the tree-stump tables and chairs are a wonderful deco set that enhances the theme! I like all the 'donations' you've added from the previous families to make this a community lot too. I'm loving the elevated flower bed in the garden. I will again reiterate my contention about same flooring that is used on indoor and outdoor spaces: the wood could potentially work in both areas (though I would prefer the outside since the brown-grey texture looks kind of weathered and splinter-prone) but when used on both areas in *every* building it looks flood-filled. I think you can get away with it on the treehouse since it's not a fully closed structure, but not on a proper structure like the cafe and parenting room with real doors and a real separate area from its outer porch. That being said I think the tile flooring are brilliant, appropriately used, and stay within the neutral color pallet of your lot. Way to have a way to dispose of bottles in your parenting room! It's a detail that gets overlooked.
Jo: I love the bridge over the pond, the tree house and how yours is all woodland themed. Total 73

Comments: you used the niches custom content parts to create a ladder-looking climb up spot on your pool build with the differing diving board heights. I love your bathroom design too, and how shower nooks get separated with those floor-to-ceiling windows. I'm always a fan of that kind of space layout where it divied up and not just an open space. I like the treatment of the red brick half wall around your grill, it's charming and looks good in your eating area. The red brick edging on the diving pool is great too. I especially love your attention to detail in making this look like a converted inner-city building to community center, with the graffiti, the entrance 'gate' and the water tower deco object on the roof. I LOVE that you have a community treehouse and it calls back to that family with a lot of kids. What's more you added ever little random object from each family! Like, you are going above and beyond here but I'm not complaining at all, just very (and enthusiastically) impressed. My only critique is that I don't see a trash bin in the parenting room or around the immediate outside of it, bottles need disposed in the game and it's a pain to make them go outside and across to another area to dispose of them.
Jo: I really like your pool area. How did you do your pool ladder, just hidden in the bricks? The toddler in the pool might want his bear suit off though lol. Very cohesive. I love your garden area with the cuddle seat. Total 72.5

Comments: The idea behind this is good, but I think it needs some tweaks to improve it. I would never put a parenting area upstairs unless there is a lift access to it. I love the glass bridge but feel that could do with some seating to admire the view. The seating and tables seems to be rather old-fashioned for such a modern lit. Also the ice rink looks a little odd in the summer. For me the pics should've been taken during winter.

Comments: This thing is a blast to look at! So many fun angles, a zig-zag bridge! An observatory! A diagonal shelter that has a roof that looks good! I love how your building connects with the walkways, and I think that's a fine stone pattern terrain paint you used in the center. The modern architecture works with that old-cobble stone. So any wedding arc users already have something old and something new around them. The landscaping is pretty darn wonderful. You always have really good straight-edged squares of grass and stone terrain paint and you used it near the entrance here, and it looks lovely. The cafe and book lounge above it look cozy, and I love how you included bike racks. You have a dishwasher but it looks like you are missing a trash bin in or around the parenting room.
Jo: I love the diagonals, the walkway and modern feel to this lot. The garden and green squares of grass are cute, probably would have put some concrete or paving under the fountains is all. Total 72

Comments: Holy flock of seagulls! I can imagine that took a lot of OMSP-ing time to get that shot for your pic! I like this laid back beach-y atmosphere of your community lot and in fact the beach theme for all your builds. This seems like a very 'anything-goes' type place. I like your terrain paint sandy paths and the wooden, beach-worn textures you have applied to the exteriors, even the base of your sculpture display. I love the rounded roof on your band stand and your water tower deco as well as the shades on all the widows because it can be really sunny area! It's all decorated very well indoors and outdoors. I'm not a fan of the parenting room floor design. I think the wallpapers are adorable but the floral floor clashes against them. The hot tub, while in a good private-ish area looks odd just sitting on grass. Some kind of hard outdoor tile should be underneath it.
Jo: Your first picture there under the spoiler really does look Ma Nature is tossing stuff at them with the sky, the birds and the leaning palm tree. It has a very nice laid back beachy feel to the place; I can quite believe it is on an island. I like your art display especially the chimes. Total 70.

Comments: I'm really impressed with the overall cohesiveness of this art center area deco and build-wise. You took a theme and worked it into your space very well with the figure portrait painting, children and adult pottery rooms, and the basket weaving room is an exceptional idea to implement for a custom touch! I like how you didn't go crazy with each space having its own set of separate tiles or wallpapers but kept it relatively consistent between buildings with interior choices and let the objects be what distinguished room from room. I love the little kids pottery wall art, that was such a nice touch! Some areas seem a bit sparse, such as the food stand area, maybe some plants or statues in the corners next to it could have made it seem less like just a food stand in a room but an eating area. The romantic area could use some move privacy. I feel any kid walking along the board walk could look over and start teasing a couple for cuddling in plain view and ruin the flirty mood.

Comments: What a quirky little desert oasis paradise for the family to spend a day! It's very much in theme with what we have seen so far and color me the impressed-iest (not a real word, I know). Your outdoor landscaping is top notch, luscious, and that fountain is slick-- especially building it out of existing fountains from the vanilla came. The other slick thing is that wall made of diagonals with the Moroccan archway; A + aesthetics! I love your simulated sandbox area and how all your objects and recolors are to theme (like the poker table and the playground equipment matches the blue and green color palette.) Overall, you have proven that you really have an eye for lot design and this is just another great place we've had the privilege to look at.
Jo: Gorgeous lot, beautiful gardens. You are really selling me on the garden even with the blue and pink flower combination you use-which I have never been keen on. Even on the green under plant terrain, which again is totally opposite of my own terrain use. Total 75.

Comments: I think each little area is very well decorated for the niche it needs to fullfill and your explanation of the business sponsoring activities is really well explained. I like your aroma therapy studio with the bamboo/plant separators and that pool area is really cool how it's covered by the building but then two floors up the shops have the (very 70s) grid windows looking down. Also good planning to put that all in one bathroom down there in lieu of actual restroom and showers to meet visitor needs. In any case, the pool is a very neat set up! I also really appreciate you putting in ramps, very thoughtful! My only critique with the build itself is that it seems odd for a floorplan to make foot traffic go through the other businesses to get to the further areas from the stairs/elevator. For example they have walk through the ice cream parlor to get to the cafe or through the art studio to get to the restaurant (where someone could potentially track in paint onto the restaurant floor) and then from the exterior view it seems odd you have this pattern of windows that just stops on the backside and a gap left on the front above the entrance. I think the front is missing windows because that's where the elevator shaft is but don't see a reason why in the second picture, the windows just stop on the one side of the building since from your top-down pics , it's the gym and then one of the play rooms on that side. I really like your gym as well. I think you were one of the few people that had a community gym and it's a great place to meet new people and get some work out buddies.
Jo: What are the lady birds. Chairs? So cute. I found it a little bit hard to piece together from the overheads but I like a lot of the areas on side view. My favourite here would be the lovely romantic bench in the garden with the peacock. Total 68.5

Comment: There are aspects I really dig in this lot and then some things I think don't work as well for it. So I will start off with what I do like: I like the black paired with neon, it's a really cool visual and one of my favourite combos. You could have pushed it further and done the white bricks in some kind of bright color too for a solid exterior theme. I see this as a contemporary outdoor mall of sorts. It has it's community activities, though different designs from room to room and there seems to be a handful of aquatic design choices between the ocean learning area and the parenting room; I would have loved if you went full blown aquarium theme on this lot and done something with the floor-to-ceiling fish tanks that came with free-time. The layout of your buildings are clean and mostly lined up to create a good sense of flow, but on the other hand, the structures are just separated boxes so I'm not particularly floored. What I do really like here, is the details you've put in like simulated picnic blanket in the outdoor eating area, the lattice work on the private garden shelter, the giant clock on the back building central exterior, the call shelter at the entrance, and the fact you have a toilet in every building so sims don't have to trudge around to one central location and loose more green bar in their bladder. Your strong suit in this build is spacing — nothing looks sparse but nothing is overcrowded either. Watch out for your outdoor trash can, it's under a counter and I don't think it's accessible. Also you don't seem to have sinks in the counters in the game room upper floor bathrooms in the pics — so those sims would have to go down and find another sink if they were to wash their hands. I also think you could have afforded to use that walkway tile to lead sims to the other buildings instead of it ending just in the middle.
Jo: Different. Some of it like the plants and bright toddler areas and the front glass windows I love, but it does seem a bit busy. I think some paving between the buildings and more of one colour scheme throughout would have pulled it together more. -1 for being a day over.65 total.

Comments: Interesting idea for an entry. I like it. I like the creative use of the spa for the baptistery. I'm a little confused as to why it's separate from the main church meeting room though cos in my church it is integral to the meeting room. Also why is the main meeting area so small? I like the idea of the smaller wedding chapel area but again why so small? Anyway cute lot

Comments: Is this hot tub for baptisms? BAPTI-SIMS? I don't know, all I know was when I saw this, I went 'There's a hot tub in this pink church?!' when I saw it. (and now reading your recent comments it WAS for baptisms-neat use!) I think the lot pulls together quite well and it's unique in that you turned your lot into a church and based on the inspiration you did a very good job with the main build! I love the parenting room's little kitchen and the stage area of your congregation. Watch out for using hanging lights above the stage tool though, because they hang lower and when sims are at least four clicks higher they often look taller than the hanging lights for example the one in your pic of the stage area is hanging lower than the speaker's podium and looks odd. I think the parking lot on left makes total sense but the one on the right, not so much considering there's a cross statue with angel statues and a sitting area in front of it and the cars that would use it might have trouble getting those spaces, hypothetically. I feel you could have really pumped up the exterior for not having a budget limit--made more of a garden or added greenery, or maybe put in some bleachers or other type seating near the soccer field because it seems lacking in comparison to the details on the interior.
Jo: I think it was very creative to build a church. My favourite area would be the baptism room although I also like the colours in the little chapel area. 65 total.

Comments: This amusement area really showcases a great use of cc along with a creative and ambitious build to meet the theme and requirements. I love all the little details here like the hot dog eating wall, along with the hot dog eating table outside like Coney Island! Love the use of pastels to get that light and fun feeling throughout the area. The skill-building areas are well put together, the parenting room is very well put together as well, and incorporating it into a day spot for kids is a great idea! And the roller coaster! Very nicely done! I'm in love with it and would take my sims here in a heartbeat!

Comments: I think the build structure and layout is entirely fabulous and at first I was really excited because I thought maybe it was like a renaissance festival/faire type plaza theme with turkey leg stands, and people in costumes and fake jousting which would be easier to pull off if you collected the CC already and ran a medieval hood, but it looks like there's an assortment of modern activities to do, not very much in theme with the 'ye olde' exterior. So I was a little disappointed but it doesn't shade the fact you did a really good job planning all the activities out and filling the space with all the requirements and giving it a detailed interior and exterior touch. I do appreciate you tried to get a lot of wood textures/color palettes into the interior to match such as the fridge and toddler crib and potty as well as the sauna area and custom swing with its wooden frame. You have several pieces of wall art covering the windows in your bar area, which I find odd “ why put windows there in the first place if they are just going to be covered? Or maybe you could have used thick blinds if there was a reason sims are not supposed to be looking inside?
Jo: The front picture of this lot is quite exciting, I love medieval type lots. I really like the outside and the pool. Some more medieval activities would have made it even better, but I still like the overall theme. Total 71

Comments: Overall, I really like this lot and the layout from the curved skylight roof to the outdoor garden space. I like the learning aspect of flower arranging and I think the bench by the pond is a decent romantic spot. The only playability issue I see is the toddler high chair at the cafe table is blocked from actually putting a toddler into it, I don't think sims can do that from the side. I'm not too keen on the tall fountains as outdoor deco objects in the middle of a stage, just because those seem more suited to be bumped up against walls, the backs aren't too interesting to look at. I would have suggested using fountains where the water functions could be viewed from all angles when placed in the center like that. Or bumped the current ones back to back.
Jo: Another type of lot that I would not have thought of, a plant nursery. The gardens are beautiful, i love plants so that's a sure winner with me. I love plants so I love the outside. I also like the curved roof.

Total 72.5

Total 68.5

Comments: I like all the little areas but they all seem quite disjointed, nothing seems to tie them together in my opinion. The decor within each area has some really nice touches. I like what you've done with the public telephone it's very neat!

65 total.

Comments: So I love that the eating area can look out on the bowling area. And that it's a bit higher while the bowling area is sunken. I also like the treatment you did for your tree out front and how there's a stage wrapped around it with a circular low fence to look like a planter, creative and effective! The flower bed design is nice and shapely out there on the walkway as well. I feel as if your interior is having an identity crisis with all the different wallpapers and floor tiles being used. It's struggling for coherency. While I get the bowling area should have a little zany-zazz to it which is fine with the wallpapers you are using, with neon lights and the colouful patterned floor; everything gets a bit muted and mundane as soon as you leave the area — that brown in the restaurant is probably the last type of color that advertises a fun atmosphere. You probably could have kept with one type of tile for all the bathrooms and kitchen/kitchen areas instead of everything having its own type. The bathrooms seem a bit odd being each their own rooms. The parenting room is long and sparse, you could have probably converted some of that into an arcade or something, considering you had no budget to limit. That Moroccan door is a little random and out of place that leads to the little toddler toys outside considering all other doors, even the front are that white grid textured version and the windows are art deco-style. Lastly, the bowling units are clipped by the walls and you can see this in your pics. They need to be placed a quarter more inside to fix that, I think. Overall, I think the lot has a lot of potential but falls short of what it could have been.

Jo: I love this lot, it has that real old fashioned boardwalk carnival feel, like maybe we have time traveled back in time. Also that coaster. O.O I'm impressed! Total 75!
