Default A couple of meshing problems I keep having
Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right place,

I keep having the same thee problems when I mesh and I've been trying to find the answers in toots but haven't yet found them yet

1. Every decorative object I make that I cloned from something that can be placed on an open for business shelf or the souvinier shelf won't place on a shelf, it will place on a table but not on a shelf, I don't know if its got to do with my settings or if its something I need to add or change in BHAVs
(This is my current problem)

2. When I make a custom counter the sink sinks into it, it works but it looks like the counter is covering the sink part

3. when I have a texture that I want to be part transparent and part solid the entire object ends up transparent, is there something out there you would suggest reading to learn more on this subject?

Thank you for taking time to read my questions

must_be_dreaming,

1. Hmm, not sure why it wouldn't do that with new cloned items, but you never know how much maxis messed this one up. You don't specificly need to change the bhavs yourself, though. Numenor made a global hack you can recommend to anyone needing it: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=137561

2. Again something the marvelous Numenor can help you with. For working kitchen counters, it's best to use his clone templates, found here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=124268

3. Depending on the method used for transparency, it's either handy or very necessary to use different subsets for transparent and non-transparent bits. Try cloning something that has the necessary subsets, or follow IgnorantBliss's tutorial here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=103379.
There's two ways of adding transparent parts. One is to use a transparent texture. The method for that is found here: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=220244
The other way is to simply take out the texture altogether, and make a single glass colour using the TXMT. The best tutorial-like thing i can come up with is this: http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=37846
It's for floors, but it does get the job done. You'll need a bit of experience with objects to make the changes in an object though. If you have any problems, let me know.

Thanks so much! Now I have hope I can finally fix these things, been having the first two problems for at least a year now.

About the first one, the items not placing on ofb shelves, a friend of mine, her meshes work fine on ofb shelves, so I just can't figure why mine don't. I'd just really like to put out meshes that work properly for people

and the texture thing, thanks, I'll do that and just remake them from another object
