Default Need help! CAW grey fog
So i've been working on adding my own touches to the Arcadia 3 world (found at http://simsasylum.com/tfm/index.php...-a-home-world/), basically the oasis landing world as a home world. I've gone into edit in game mode and every time I try to zoom out I get a weird grey fog that I can't see through (same problem as this guy: http://modthesims.info/t/474580)

I've tried deleting the problem files, as well as changing the files/colour ramps as suggested by this post: http://modthesims.info/showpost.php...971&postcount=3 but nothing has worked. I'm fairly sure I've done every step correctly but im not experienced with CAW or modding the sims 3. this bug is ruining my world and annoying the hell out of me, any help would be appreciated!

Have you tried removing all DDS and ini files pertaining to the sea/sky parameters?

I can't download that world as it requires registration (and probably EPs I don't have) so I don't know what files it contains. If you could attach some screenshots of the package contents in S3PE, I'd have a better idea.

Look for any of these:

Take a screenshot of any ini or DDS files that you find in S3PE, like this:

If there are any DDS files without ini files or vice-versa, this could cause the fog you mention. CAW usually discards ini files upon saving, but the DDS files will remain.

How do I tell if the files are DDS/Ini files? do I look in the S3PE of the world file for them or in another file? Sorry for the probably dumb questions but i'm new to modding and world-building!

I had a look and found these files (shown in the pic). http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img924/2005/RVzWlK.png they all had error messages associated. I'll try and delete those and see what happens

Edit: Deleting just those files didn't work :/

Delete the ones labelled custom, cloudy etc too- those are sky overrides. Did you find any DDS ini files?

I'm not sure what DDS files are, so I'm not sure how to find them. I've deleted all the ones with cloudy/foggy labels but the problems still occurring

Edit: I thought those files in the pic I posted were DDS files

So I imported the Isla Paradiso colour ramps and sea/sky parameters using this tutorial thing: http://modthesims.info/t/459198. It definitely worked, the water colour changed and everything but the grey fog is still present within EIG :/

Edit: After saving and exiting in CAW (which in the linkabove says deletes the ini files) the weather parameters show up as errors (http://imageshack.com/a/img924/5797/VT5kAZ.png). Will they work once I export my world then repack them? and get rid of the grey fog?

Apologies @rolfey1328 yes, those are DDS images, I quite meant to write ini files! The error that you are getting is most likely because you don't have the NVidia DDS Utilities installed.

When you import the sea/sky parameters from another world, they will work well in CAW. However, when you save the world in CAW the ini files will be discarded by CAW. So the DDS files will remain but without the proper control files (basegame defaults will instead be used, resulting in the fog).

To make the files stay in your world you either need to import them to your world file using S3PE, or else you need to use the CAW packaging routines. Links as follows:
http://modthesims.info/showpost.php...971&postcount=3
Quote:
If you wish to include your colour ramps and ini files in a packed world (Sims3Pack file), this can be done by importing the ini files and colour ramps into your CAW world file before you export your world to Sims3Pack. Please note that if you then save the world in CAW, the game will discard the ini files but the colour ramps will remain. This can cause undesirable graphical glitches such as unnatural colours, unnaturally dark world, transparent water, unnatural glow or a foggy veil. To solve this, you need to either re-import your ini files to the world after saving, or else remove the colour ramps to get rid of the custom weather altogether.

OK so I imported the colour ramps and other files from sunlit tides - looks amazing! saved and exited S3PE, opened CAW then exported the world without saving, there's no grey fog and it's retained the custom colour parameters, so all seems good. Thanks for all the help!
