Default Fixing invalid memories in Desiderata Valley
Okay, so here's the story: I downloaded the free Sims 2 Ultimate Collection that EA was giving out a while back, and have since been playing it obsessively. However, since this is the first time I've ever played Sims, I didn't initially realize that you could create your own neighborhoods, and ended up hijacking Desiderata Valley, moving all the default Sims to the Sim Bin and repopulating it with my own.

Later, after some conversations with my Sim-playing friends, I discovered that the built-in neighborhoods come with broken Sims, and started going through some steps to try and fix them. Unfortunately, Desiderata Valley apparently comes with a fair share of broken memories, which HoodChecker does not fix. I tried downloading SimPE in an attempt to fix them manually, but for the life of me I can't get the thing to work. I've tried a patch I found online to get it to work with the Ultimate Collection, but it still can't find most of the files it wants, and neither can I. The memories didn't seem to load properly, and my attempts to fix it seems to have prevented them from loading at all.

So I guess my question is, is there an easy way to fix the broken memories? I don't want to lose all my Sims due to a pre-borked neighborhood. XD;

The short answer is no. There are too many variables to track down and it's also unknown how to fix everything when you've got a neighborhood that is likely corrupted. There is a downloadable "clean" version of Desiderata Valley out there that you could download and use to replace the "native" template, but since you've already played the neighborhood, that's not going to do you any good now. You would have to start over anyway.

So, your options are to extract your Sims' appearances from the neighborhood (if you can get SimPE working; I don't have the UC, so I really don't know how you do that) and then recreate them in CAS and use them to populate a new, custom neighborhood. (You still wouldn't be able to restore all their memories, though, at least not as I understand it.) Or, just totally bag your neighborhood now and start again in a new, custom neighborhood. (As I understand it, ALL of the pre-made neighborhoods are pre-corrupted for you. If you want to play them in any sort of long-term fashion, then fortunately, there are downloadable "clean" versions of them available. A quick Google search will turn them up.)

I'm mostly found on (and mostly upload to) Tumblr these days because, alas, there are only 24 hours in a day.

SimPE does work with UC. I think what's happened is the file paths for the new version of TS2 have changed and you need to let SimPE know this so it can find the relevant folders and files. It's be in Preferences I should think.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

Hmm, well that's inconvenient, since I've already made a boatload of new Sims. OH WELL I'll have to fiddle around with SimPE. :P

Aaroneous gives information about getting SimPE to work with the UC here: http://simmanipulator.forumotion.co...mate-collection

there is no other way to remove invalid memories that the Hood Checker doesn't get other than in SimPE.

Ahh thank you, that fixed it! Now let's see if I can make myself a non-corrupt neighborhood.
