Default What defaults do ya'll use?
So it's 4 am, I'm about to fall asleep but I have to get up in a few hours to visit my friend so... Discussion time! To keep me from that past midnight overthinking

I'm really curios to see what defaults you guys use as I'm fascinated at how different everyone's game looks and I don't know I just find it interesting. Sue me.

So...do share!

Tons, what area are you interested in?
I have default skin, makeup, hair, eyebrows and pimples on sims.
Some default objects like beach towels, baby bottle, toddler food, bedding and curtains.
Then rocks and dirt terrain

That's my modern game, my medieval has even more right down to the bills.

I have so many I can't really list them all.

Though I only have clothing and hair, and I've replaced the icons for conversations with those from Sims 3, I think, because I was tired of the old icons.

But I still have the original maxis skins and eyes, because I dislike most replacements, especially the "photo realistic" ones.

Someone once described my game as "semi-realistic" so... I think that's what I go for. In terms of clothing, I rarely ever default replace something, but when I do I prefer more maxis-matchy textures. My hairs are all Pooklet family 1 or 2. I went through a stage of using Brisance and Molotov of family 4, so some of my sims still have that.

Skintones
Pooklet's "Rehash" skintones, which I had trouble finding but here they are: http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...p?topic=24805.0
There's about 18 or so of them, all with different genetic values (which I like, I hated only having 4 genetic skintones. It's rare my sims marry someone with the exact skintone as them). I'm not sure which ones I use for the default skintones, I believe my pale is 3, light tan is 6, dark tan is 9, and dark skinned is 13. I love this skintone, but I find a lot of the darker ones look so similar in tone, and it seems that the majority of my townies seem to fall in the 13-15 range - which makes maxis haircolours all look kinda whiter, but changing their hair to pooklet ones and downloading some good eyebrows (I don't default my eyebrows) generally fixes that problem.
My alien skintones is called "[Lilith] Green alien"http://lilith-sims.tumblr.com/post/31051548020/an-anon-requested-this-some-time-ago-im-sorry-it
Zombie skintone: Solitude https://frankscrank.livejournal.com/91876.html
Evil witch is Enayla's Pixie Emerald: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...ic,13779.0.html
Vampire: Ephemera's vampire made default: http://www.digitalperversion.net/ga...11662#msg611662
Haven't replaced my werewolf, but I'm looking.
My Plantsim skin is just called "Pooklet plantsim" - I think it's this. Which is a little transparent, because again, I like lots of different coloured skins. I only have tanned-dark skintoned plantsims at the moment though (The Greenman family) so they're all a deep green colour: http://pooklet.tumblr.com/post/1068...-for-all-eyelid

Eyes
"Nothing Like the Sun" default replacements found here: http://pooklet.tumblr.com/post/1068...-for-all-eyelid
I use:
Brown - Chestnut (use to use Amber, but I found it too light on my darker skintones, so I have it as contact lenses instead)
Dark blue - Starry
Light Blue - Cerulean (although I just noticed the Caribbean ones are quite nice, so I might swap out)
Grey - Pollution (again, might swap out for Ink. Maybe)
Green - Fresh
I also have Electric and Treacle as custom, so a lot of sims in different hoods use them but not in my megahood. I don't think they're townified?
I don't have any other eye defaults. Still trying to find some alien eyes that I like, but the maxis ones don't look out of place.

I use this Servo, with male head: https://chazzhay.livejournal.com/11061.html
There are some I like better, but my internet flags those sites as "porn" so I can't download them, and I don't want to mess with my settings. Besides, I only have 1 servo, and they're in a relationship with a sim... and... there's something hilarious about the fact that such an ugly robot has 3 bolts with most women in Strangetown

Clothes
I have a few bits and bobs replaced but it seems like a lot of effort to post all of them, so here's just the maternity wear:
Females (because I hate the idea of all my preggo sims wearing the same outfit): http://marja87.tumblr.com/post/1210...-on-here-before - though I have swapped them a few times. I'm considering swapping them again

Sims/Humans: I use Over My Head skin defaults by Dreadpirate, I absolutely love them!

Supernaturals: I use Marigold Skinblend for the Supernaturals. For Witches however, I use No Witch Overlay by "Simsbaby" over at Insimenator.

Eyes: I use Remisims Edits of Leh eyeset, includes Sims/Human & Supernatural.

Clothing: Too many defaults to link to, LOL.

I tend to play one style for a while then swap to another I usually play Maxis Match to Semi Realistic. I've also tried to go for stuff that would play nice with each other.

I have two different eye sets in my game they both work well for either mm or semi realistic:
https://dreadpirate.tumblr.com/post...-by-dreadpirate
and
https://dreadpirate.tumblr.com/post...efaults-this-is (currently using as default)
http://mikexx2.tumblr.com/post/1822...g-what-skineyes

I'm running quite a few skins at the moment, I feel to many and that long term I'll cut down on them when I decide which one I like the most.
The mm skins:
http://lilith-sims.tumblr.com/post/...ey-skinblend-hi
and
https://dreadpirate.tumblr.com/post...-a-skinblend-by
I feel honey gold is a good add on to Honey Honey or is the other way round? I like to use the defaults as the colouring seems to suit the existing Sims more.

This is more the realistic side of the skins:
http://theboldandthebeautifulsims.t...ve-been-working
and
http://theboldandthebeautifulsims.t...stslightbeams-i
and
http://gardenofshadows.org.uk/garde...32086#msg732086 (defaults here)

I'm trying these as my defaults at the moment but I don't know I'm keeping them.
http://digitalperversion.net/garden...21226#msg721226
Also look at these:
https://digitalangels.tumblr.com/po...-have-them-here
https://digitalangels.tumblr.com/po...ious-skin-set-i

If you want really realistic look at whysims, her (newer) skins actually are great but they were to realistic for me. It may have been a bit too big of leap in the style of skins I'm used to, to hers.

I don't run hair defaults, I know some are not aging well or just awful but there is a lot I still like and the fact they are animated. I do use custom hair that have been retextured using mikexx2 new hair system.

These are just what I can think or can track down.

Eyes: I use Pooklet's Eye Defaults - I have a weakness for realistic colours and smaller iris, and I'm very picky about eyes, but I love Whysim's eyes - they're beautiful and exactly what I like (lots of brown-eyed sims with just a few that have blue or green.)

Hair: I get all my defaults from different places (the S2Defaults Database is my first stop when resetting my game), but I mostly use Antka's and MoogleSims off the top of my head. There are some great ones out there though. I like defaults that stick relatively close to the spirit of the original hairstyle, but look better, and I prefer Pooklet and Io textures over maxis-match.

Skins: This is always the hardest to get right for me - it can be hard to find good realistic skins for non-white sims, and I judge all skinsets by how well they do the darker tones. I use Anva's defaults right now, but I've been sorely tempted by the extraordinary Enayla default set that someone uploaded here on MTS. I think I'm prepared to swap out for those - I used to use Enayla for defaults but I switched over because the S4 of the set I had wasn't dark enough. For defaults, the S1 tone tends to be snow-pale, while the S4 'Darkest Dark' tone is like, barely golden brown tan, so I tend to hunt around until I find one that had a more realistic gradient between lightest and darkest tones, and a nice dark S4.

Clothes: The most time-consuming, but imho worth-it set of defaults lol. I was swayed by Skell's incredible maxis repository, but in the end, there were just some things that I felt I needed to get rid of. Everything I use comes from the Default Database.

OMG! Thank you! I had no idea that this was missing from my life!

I replaced some defaults for the most useless hairs, like the diver's helmet. I like Nouk's sharp eyes.
http://www.modthesims.info/d/243858...placements.html
I mixed and matched my default skins to give the whole game a darker overall tone by making some set 4 into a 3 and the 3 into a 2, but I have three or four different creators' skins to do it. I have some default maternity clothes. A few of HP's default Maxis outfits, because, while I don't mind showing midriff, EVERY outfit shouldn't show it. That's about it.

most replacements in my game are objects; I created them.
only other replacement might be the "creature fixes" mod. the "essential mods" sticky links to it.

Skins: Ephemera's Simple and Compulsion skins, with a couple tweaks to make them infant outfit friendly. I also have creature replacements, but don't play with them much.

Eyes: Helaene's 0312 eyes (I've had those since around 2006/07 and LOVE them!), with a couple tweaks to two of the eyes because the pupils were a little too bright for my taste. They have a certain photogenic quality that I miss from quite a lot of other eyes, in that they give a direct look forward, instead of slightly up/down or to the side, so sims look straight into the camera if need be. I don't get tired of them, haven't found any I like better, though in my full game I have mixed in a few other custom eyes just for the sake of variation. I also have a set of the same eyes in custom format with more color variations.

I have eyebrows by corvidophile (orig by Helaene/Serasims), and eyelashes by Kirsi (I think all of these were originally up at MTS, but not sure if they're here any longer).

Clothes/hair: I mostly have texture replacements and the occasional mesh fix, plus pregmorph addons for the maxis AF and some AM clothes. I don't use a lot of complete replacements (mesh+recolor) because I prefer regular non-replacement CC, and have recolors I don't want to be affected. I don't use hair replacements because I use maxis hairs and clothes for test lots. I often pull out CC for faster loading when testing new things, and I don't like having to go around fixing their clothes and hairs all the time, plus they're almost guaranteed to be low-poly. I do have a couple of hair fixes for annoyances, and also some category and texture replacements by Phaenoh.

Other than that I do have various other defaults - toybox toys, baby bottle, face templates, some fixes to the maxis crib, some texture fixes, etc. The list is quite long.

These defaults follow my game at all times, so they're always in, no matter if I'm playing with little CC or my full game.

I like my supernaturals to have translucent skins wherever possible. If my normal human sims can range from light to dark skins, I want my supernaturals to have the same option.

Human skins - "Imperfections" by SleepyTabby. They look much better in the actual game.
Part 1 - http://www.modthesims.info/d/535350...n-part-one.html
Part 2 - http://www.modthesims.info/d/537222...n-part-two.html

Human eyes - "Natural Elements" by SleepyTabby. YOU choose which shade of green, etc. to use for a default!
http://www.modthesims.info/d/538669...-15-update.html

Alien skin - "Venice Supernatural" - "Fairy (Green)" by Pyxis. I use the green scaly one as a default and the custom versions of the blue and teal ones (different species).

Servo - default replacement by Dazro (this is mostly just the eye)
http://www.modthesims.info/d/489782...met-servos.html

Werewolf - translucent default by Leh at GOS. Does not include eye replacements.

I suppose I'm the exception here. I only use two default replacements, and neither of them really changes the appearance of my Sims.

First I use DOHC46's low resolution skin tones from our sister site Sexy Sims. Since it's an adult site I won't give a link, but they're easy enough to find, and frankly I think they're pretty innocuous. Basically they're the Maxis female skins made a little bit more anatomically correct --when my females take their tops off they actually have nipples! With clothes on, they just look like Maxis Sims. Personally I don't find female nipples a tremendous turn-on (they're for feeding babies, aren't they?), bit I find their absence quite disturbing.

My other default replacement is SleepyTabby's "Subtlety" Default Face Templates. These are basically toned down versions of the Maxis templates -- just a little bit less extreme. They don't affect existing Sims at all -- only new ones. Some of the Maxis face templates -- especially the ape-like one (I think it's face #18) -- were just a little much caricatures for my taste..

I have lots of CC clothing and hair, but I want it all in addition to the Maxis ones. I don't use more realistic skins because I don't want to change the appearance of existing Sims that I've been playing for years. I don't use custom eyes at all because I never really look at Sims eyes. Unfortunately in our western culture if's supposed to indicate that I'm shifty and dishonest (I hope I'm not!), but I feel very uneasy looking anyone, even a Sim, directly in the eye -- I feel I'm staring at them. So, while I know the colour of my Sims' skin and hair, I couldn't tell you the eye colour of a single Sim in my game. Because I've never really looked! So not much point in bothering with custom ones!

All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.

I use the same skin as Marka93 above and have eye defaults that may be by Yumedust here: http://modthesims.info/d/266483/def...y-yumedust.html (or they may be recolors of these by CuriousB).
I have a small number of building defaults too, including, of course, HugeLunatic's stairs, I think everything Honeywell may have defaulted and some others too.
There may also be some other defaults that I may have downloaded with recolors of some objects.
Oh, and bedding by CuriousB.

Pet eyes, tweak mods.
one terrain default, one road default.
the witch name and aura removals.
Not many and I prefer Maxis Match ones where possible or currently known.
I much prefer, similar to AndrewGloria, Maxis Originals and mods that do not override the defaults, unless they enhance or look much nicer (subjective view of course) than the originals.
