I have an AMD 7700, 2gb. Sims 3 runs horribly on it, even at 60 fps. It's so laggy and slow.
Originally I was thinking of getting a Nvidia 970, but it's more expensive than the 6gb Nvidia 1060 - which is $430.
My processor is: AMD FX-4130, 2.8 ghz. I have 16gb of RAM.
Is it too overpowered for Sims 3 at high settings?
The GTX 1060 comes out in two versions, a version with 3GB of Video RAM, and a version with 6GB of VRAM. The 6GB is slightly more powerful than the 3GB version, but the 3GB should still be good for the sims 3 and its slightly cheaper.
There's also the RX 480. That card also comes in two versions, one with 8GB of VRAM and one with 4GB I believe.
Checkout the prices of the RX 480 4GB and the GTX 1060 3GB.

Thanks for helping me (once again)! I was thinking of getting the 6gb, which is $430, but the games I mainly play are Sims 2, Sims 3 and Skyrim. Would it be too powerful for TS3?
The 480 is $350-$400, and the 3gb 1060 is also $350.

It's not *too* powerful, but it is more powerful. The thing is that it's 80 AUD more, and I'm not convinced that it's worth those extra $80.
