The Butler Challenge
IntroductionIn this challenge, you control a sim who has been hired as a live-in servant to a wealthy and extremely eccentric family. The people in this household are very odd; they have bizarre habits, “artistic” temperaments, and can’t be bothered to take care of mundane affairs, so they’ve hired a sim to move in and handle business. As their new servant (who may be called a butler, concierge, housekeeper, or whatever strikes your fancy), this sim is tasked with keeping the family alive and happy.
Setup Instructions
Create the wealthy family. Make a family of at least 5 sims, at least one of which must be a child or younger. These folks are independently wealthy and rather eccentric, so choose their appearance and personalities accordingly. For me, this was an excuse to use some of the more outrageous styles in the catalog that I’d normally never touch. It’s also a fun opportunity to make very extreme personalities! This challenge will be harder if you choose to have babies or toddlers, so be warned.
Choose or build their mansion. The wealthy family’s house can be any design that you want and can cost as much as you like (cheats are probably necessary to make a good mansion). Give the place some character, and don’t be afraid to reflect the personalities of the family you created. I suggest that it be fairly large to make this challenge interesting, but it should be at least somewhat playable or you’re going to make yourself crazy. There are plenty of interesting houses right here on MTS if you don’t feel like building. Your mansion should include a private room (or suite) for the new live-in servant. Include all basic and necessary furniture in the servant’s room, but keep things fairly cheap and basic. Make sure to have a bed, dresser, chair, bookshelf, and desk. You don’t need to have a separate bathroom or kitchen for your servant, but you can if you want to, just make sure to lock the door so the family doesn’t wander in.
Move the family in and get them set up. At least one of the adults in the family should have a job (I recommend you use cheats to give them a high-level position and the skills to match). The family is independently wealthy, but it makes sense for at least one of them to have a career anyway (especially if it’s something really odd) to represent their pursuits and interests outside of home.
Create or choose your playable sim. This will be the sim you control throughout the challenge. The sim may be either male or female and any age that works for you and your neighborhood (some people have mods that would make teens or YA work for this challenge, and that’s fine). If you’d like, you can choose a sim from one of your other households. This sim is going to answer an advertisement to become a live-in servant, but he/she doesn’t know the family when arriving to start the job.
Finally, move your playable sim into the house. You can just merge them into the household from the neighborhood screen, or use cheats to add them so they will start with no relationship points. You are welcome to give your sim 3 points each in Cooking, Cleaning, and Mechanical using the method of your choice. And that’s it! You’re ready to start.
How to Play
Objective:This works really well as an open-ended scenario, but for the purposes of the challenge, my objective is to raise all the family’s children until they go off to University without my butler sim being fired (see "Quitting or Being Fired" below). Alternatively, you could play with the aim of eventually having enough money to start a business or move out and start a family of your own (see Rewards section below for details about pay and savings).
Controlling sims: Although you may freely look at the needs and wants of the family, you may only control the servant sim for most of the challenge. The following are the only exceptions:
(1) You may cancel what a toddler is doing so that your sim can interact with him/her.
(2) If the servant is in the same room as a sleeping family member, you may wake that family member up.
(3) You may control a sim to fix glitches and bugs, to get them unstuck from somewhere, and so on.
(4) You may control family members to call in sick or add “go to work/school” to their queue, but you may not cancel their current action manually.
(5) You may control a sim in order to have them use the birthday cake or an aspiration/career reward object.
(6) You may control each family member to take one action per day, but it must be directly drawn from his/her wants panel and you may only queue it up once. If that sim has no wants that you can act directly on, you may either re-roll that sim’s wants or skip that sim. Exception to note: If you are not using ACR, you may Try For Baby even if the adult sims don’t have that want.
(7) You may send each family member out to community lots once per week (you can send them all together, individually, or however you like). Your servant sim does not need to accompany them (and in most cases probably shouldn’t). While family members are on community lots, you may control them normally! (This is the only time you should be playing the family members themselves, but I found that it was a much-needed break from the frustration of the challenge and gave me a good chance to raise their aspiration bars and develop relationships.)
Responsibilities:
Your new butler/concierge/housekeeper has many responsibilities. It’s his/her job to keep the household functioning. This includes:
Your new butler/concierge/housekeeper has many responsibilities. It’s his/her job to keep the household functioning. This includes:
(1) Hiring other staff: You may hire a maid, gardener, and nanny if you wish! You may also call for a repairperson or exterminator if one is needed. It’s your job to ensure everything gets done, but you don’t have to do it all by yourself. You may not hire a butler, of course -- that’s you!
(2) Getting supplies and paying bills: When it’s time to stock the fridge, make sure to order groceries or go and get them. Make sure that bills get paid. If the family needs items such as new clothes or electronics, you should go and buy them.
(3) Preparing meals: Make sure that food is available for the family. I like to keep my kitchen locked (or use a non-autonomous fridge) so that only my butler sim is able to cook, then I put the serving platters out in the dining room. You may not use a buffet table.
(4) Childcare and tutoring: While you are welcome to hire a nanny, it’s ultimately your responsibility to ensure that the children are well cared-for. If the nanny is glitchy or lazy, the slack falls to you. Beyond basic care, it’s also your responsibility to teach toddler skills and help the kids with their homework (if a family member has rolled a want to do any of these things, you may use their one action per day to give it a try, of course).
(5) Maintenance and pet care: Although you are free to hire a repairperson and a maid, you may want to do minor repairs and cleaning yourself. Keep the house usable and looking nice for the family. If the family has them, remember to wind grandfather clocks and feed the fish! If the family has any pets, make sure they are clean, fed, and happy.
Proper Conduct:
As a servant, you can’t just do whatever you like! Your employers may be eccentric, but this is still their private home and you’re the hired help. Here are some rules for how you should behave:
As a servant, you can’t just do whatever you like! Your employers may be eccentric, but this is still their private home and you’re the hired help. Here are some rules for how you should behave:
-> Know your place. Your servant sim may not initiate romantic actions with guests or with family members and may only initiate friendly socials with sims who are teens and younger. If the adult family members target the servant with socials, you may allow them to happen if you wish. Naturally, your servant sim is free to chat with the other hired staff and anyone that is his/her own friend or family from outside work (see “Time Off” in the rewards section below).
--> Don’t use the household objects without permission. The family’s fun stuff and comfy furniture belong to them, and you aren’t free to just help yourself. For sanity while you’re playing, it’s probably ok to have your butler eat with the family and use their bathrooms, but don’t allow him/her to use their fun objects like pool tables, bars, pianos, computers, and so on. Don’t lounge around on their couches, either. [Note: You can earn the right to use some household objects. See “Permissions” in the Rewards section below.] The only other exception to this rule is when the servant is using an object to help one of the family as part of his/her responsibilities. For example, you may use a chess board if you ask one of the family’s children to join you, since you are then teaching the child some logic.
--> Be professional. Your servant sim should conduct him/herself with dignity and respect. This means: no mean interactions toward the family and their guests, no fighting, no gossiping where family members can overhear you, no wetting yourself, no passing out, and no romantic interactions outside of your private room. Depending on the way you like to play your neighborhood and its rules/morals, you may want to limit other actions as well. Whatever makes sense for you and your sims!
--> Put the family first. As long as you’re employed in your current role, your servant sim must put his/her own life on the back burner. Having fun, fulfilling personal wants, and raising skills are fine when the house and kids are settled, but if you neglect your responsibilities to read romance novels all afternoon, you may lose your job. For the same reason, while still employed as a live-in servant, you may not operate a business out of the family’s home, get married, become pregnant, adopt a child, ask another sim to move in with you, or own a dog/cat (smaller pets are fine as long as they remain in the servant’s room).
Quitting or Being Fired:
Your sim may quit anytime he/she wishes, but the family could also fire him/her if things aren’t working out.
Your sim may quit anytime he/she wishes, but the family could also fire him/her if things aren’t working out.
Consider the servant automatically fired if any of the following things are witnessed by someone in the family or one of the family’s friends: The servant gets into a fight, the servant makes out or has woohoo outside of his/her own private room, the servant marries, the servant becomes pregnant and has no one else for their child to live with, the servant causes the death of a family member (for example, by starting a fire that kills someone), the repo man visits, or any of the children or pets are taken by the social worker.
Consider the servant fired if more than three of the following happen in a single week: A fire is caused by the servant, a child’s report card drops to a D, a family member goes into aspiration failure, the servant serves a scorched/spoiled meal, someone in the family becomes ill due to roaches or bad food that was left out, the family throws a failed party, the servant is witnessed by a family member doing a romantic or mean interaction, peeing themselves, or passing out.Whether the servant quits or is fired, he/she will have to move out within one sim day. In order to buy a house, he/she must have saved §20,000 or more. If your servant doesn’t have that much (and you have Apartment Life), they might have enough money to rent an apartment. If not, your servant may choose to move in with a relatives or friends in the neighborhood who have a home. If all else fails and none of these are possible for your poor servant sim, kick him/her out of the house and maybe look for a homeless sim challenge?
Rewards:
Pay: You’ll need some way to keep track of how much money your servant has (as opposed to the total family funds of the household). I know there are various mods available to help with this, or you can keep track on scratch paper or a spreadsheet. Assume that your servant starts with a mere $500 in his/her personal account. In addition to room and board, your sim earns §1200/week and is paid every Monday.
[Note: This is based on the amount that hiring a butler costs in TS3. I found the TS2 hourly rate, when multiplied, to be a bit too steep for my tastes, but if you want to use it, it would be §3600 for the 6-day week. That might be a better choice if you don't want to play with long age spans like I have.]
You may use this pay to buy décor or objects for the servant’s private room, new clothes, fun activities at community lots (such as dining out), vacations, or buying gifts for friends/dates/relatives. Remember that you can’t use the family’s space for your own objects (though if they have an unused attic or basement, maybe they’d let you put stuff in there). Of course, you may decide to save your pay rather than spend it right away. If you save §20,000, you may quit your job and buy your own house (so you can start a family, perhaps?).
Time Off: Your servant has one day per week off (I’ve found that Fridays work well for me). This is the only day that he/she is allowed to have visitors over to the house or go out for personal reasons. This is a great time to go to the coffee shop or bar and make friends… or maybe meet someone special? Of course, if the family has young children, you’ll still need to make sure that someone is taking care of them. You’ll also need to ensure that the family doesn’t starve on your day off (so unlock the kitchen, put out leftovers, or order pizza). You also earn 1 vacation day per week, which you’ll have to track manually along with pay. If you decide to spend your earnings on a Bon Voyage vacation, count the days you’re gone as coming from these vacation days. If the servant sim is legitimately sick, he/she may take the day off without penalty and without spending vacation days.
Permissions: For each family member of age teen or older who is at Best Friends level with the servant, you may have access to one object in the house that wouldn’t normally be allowed. Ideally, this is an object that the family member has some ownership of and could theoretically give the servant permission to use. For example, if the servant is Best Friends with a musically inclined teen sim, maybe she tells the butler he can play the piano. Whatever the object is, the servant sim can only use it when no one from the family or any of their guests is using it, even if it is an object usable by multiple people at a time (such as a hot tub).
Bonuses: The family might be weird, but they’re also generous and will give bonuses to the servant on the following occasions (these are examples, so you can think of other occasions too if you wish – please share what you come up with!):
- Family throws a successful party: §200 or equivalent gift
- Child grows up well into a teen: §500 or equivalent gift
- Child or teen gets into private school: §500 or equivalent gift
- Toddler grows up well into a child: §100 or equivalent gift
Mods, Strategies & Suggestions
A note about mods: I freely confess my game is modded to the eyeballs. I have lots of behavior fixes and autonomy tweaks, so I really don’t know if this scenario will play out the same way for you as it does for me. For this challenge, I encourage you to keep installed all the mods that keep you sane and let you have fun with the game – it’s plenty challenging enough with all the fixes in, and there are plenty of mods that will make this even more fun. I think this challenge works really well with ACR, for example, so that the rich family has romantic hijinks and additional children from time to time.
Since you can only control the family members for one action per day each, you’ll need to get creative with how you make sure their needs are met. I use “call over” or “join” actions to get the family members where they need to be and I make sure to call them to meals using group servings. You can ensure that children do their homework by helping them with it, but I have also downloaded monique’s Auto Do Homework mod that pushes the children to do it at 7pm every night – it’s been a lifesaver, but by no means has this been easy even so.
To make sure the sims use the right beds, I use reservable beds from simlogical. Really, a lot of simlogical stuff is useful for this challenge, so definitely check out their other sections if you haven't ever been there. I lock doors to keep the family out of the servant’s room and the kitchen. There's also a no autonomous dishes mod in my folder that keeps the family from trying to do their own dishes, but I'll have to look up where I got it and update this post later.
Acknowledgements & Comments:
Reading some of the other challenges on the MTS boards inspired me to come up with this scenario for myself. I never intended to post it since it didn’t seem very original to me (it’s mostly based off other challenges), but I’ve had so much fun so far that I thought I’d share. I think it's become more original as I've added detail to it as well. This idea was primarily inspired by The Hired Help Challenge for TS4 by MissChevus, with a dash of the classic Asylum Challenge thrown in.

I noticed that dash of Asylum thrown in very well written challenge! I love it!
I made a challenge like this but with a Servo
"Oh look, my grandchild is now an elder. They grow up so fast. Gee, I wonder when I'll finally graduate college." Sims 2

I am in love with your challenge, even reading your post was entertaining. I have so much on my plate that I can't say if and when I will be trying it out, but it's absolutely not unoriginal, because of the social aspect. It offers so many possibilities also for those who like to document the challenges they play in a "storytelling" way, what with the butler being forbidden to interact with his masters and have a family of his own. And doesn't he just beg to fall hopelessly in love with one of the family members? Yes he does

I'm so glad you guys like my challenge! It was fun to design and write, but an awful lot of work, so thanks so much for your interest and comments. I'll definitely post some of my pictures soon.
Edit: Here they are!
David Sharma is a thoughtful young man with three younger sisters. Their mother died when they were quite young, and since then they've been living with their grandmother. David had really wanted to go to University and study to become a scientist, but with Grandma retired and the girls too young to work, money is pretty tight for the family. Though David has been searching hard for a good job, the Downtown economy is terrible and he can't afford to live on his own.
HELP WANTED: Live-in butler needed immediately! No experience necessary. Duties include childcare, meal preparation, and general property management. Salary is $1200 per week, plus room and board. Generous performance bonuses and paid vacation time. Apply in person at the Rafflehoff Estate.
"Wow, that could actually work! I could send money home so Amia can go to private school like she wants, and Gran won't have to worry as much."
So David talked with his grandmother over a plate of spaghetti and explained his plan. She was worried, of course, and didn't want David to move out just yet, but she agreed it was a good opportunity.
The next day, David dressed up in some nice clothes he found at the local thrift shop and arrived at the Rafflehoff estate in Belladonna Cove.
What if they don't like me? he thought. I bet they're really uptight and snobbish. They'll probably turn me away at the door.
Still, he needed to do this for his grandmother and sisters. David gathered up his courage and walked up to the door of the estate.
David expected a snooty servant to answer the door, but to his surprise it was none other than Stefano Rafflehoff, the master of the house, wearing a silk robe and a bright-eyed grin.
David introduced himself and started to explain that he was here to apply for the position, but the man interrupted him with an excited clap of his hands. "Aha! You're finally here!"
"Excuse me?"
"You're here to be the new butler, right? Oh, thank goodness! This place has just been a terrible mess since Lars ran off. Come on in and make yourself at home! Get started right away!"
David could only stare at him in astonishment.
Before he could so much as stammer out a few questions, Stefano called out for the rest of the family to come meet the new butler.
"Hello! I'm Blaine! Will you help me with my homework?"
Is that boy wearing eyeliner?!
David was trying to think of something to say, but Stefano pushed a toddler into his arms.
"That's Tabitha," he said. "She'll just adore you."
The girl stared at David. He stared back.
Just as he was starting to wonder about the lady of the house, a voice called down from the top of the stairs, "Oh, hello, darling."
He looked up to see Beryl Rafflehoff decending. [Author's Note: She did this completely autonomously. I did not stage this shot at all. O_O]
And so David was swept unceremoniously into the house and asked to make lunch. He suddenly wasn't sure he wanted this job, but somehow he ended up in the kitchen trying to make soup.
Of course, he wasn't very good at cooking yet, so he promptly set the stove on fire.
Oh, they'll fire me for sure! David thought, and I only just got here!
It was a reasonable fear, but while David was panicking and the fire department was rushing in to take care of the stove, what was the master of the house doing?
Well, of course he was enjoying a casual game of pool.
Mrs. Rafflehoff didn't seem to notice either. She went on drinking at the upstairs bar in her underwear.
David was able to make another lunch and serve it.
He played with Tabitha.
He mopped the huge puddles in all the bathrooms.
And finally he went up to the attic and found his bed.
This is insane, he thought. What am I doing here?
But it was late and he was too tired to quite figure out how he got drawn into this. Maybe the morning will bring more clarity.

This challenge looks so cool I'm going to start it tonight although I take forever to design houses, so that might be as far as I get. . .

Thank you, @Lili975, for reading my post. I wonder about Lars as well!
@simobsessedwillow -- It's fun to make your own house, but since I wanted to get started on the challenge without building, I'm using Oak Alley by @panmines, which I enjoy very much -- it's perfect for the Rafflehoff family. I see them as an eccentric and rather antiquated family, so the victorian objects and theme of that house are awesome. I was able to convert the attic into a nice space for David as well. There are lots of other great mansions on MTS, some of which don't even need cc. If you don't want to design the house, that's also a good way to go.

I have ACR also, am going to use that huge OAK ALLEY Best Leopard linked to (hope there is room for a theater room and a pool room, and one simply MUST have a pool).
Not good at following directions (heh) so THIS is how it's going to go---Priscilla led a sheltered, simple life. When she became an orphan at 13, a wealthy family offered to take her in as an indentured servant. {This actually happened to my grandmother!). In those days, that was not a bad thing - it was certainly better than life on the streets. As such, she does not get paid...but if she helps herself to some "little pritties" no one will notice. After all, she doesn't intend to be a servant all her life! In her little room she studies whenever she can - girls can be smart too! And if she doesn't have a lot of skills, and friends, she won't be able to move out when she becomes an adult
Her employers EXPECT her to anticipate their needs (play catch? fix a certain meal?) {I will cheat to give her cooking skills} And I expect they will be crazy a lot...She will eat in the kitchen by herself.
The rich couple will have a daughter (who is mean to Priscilla), but if Priscilla ever lets her temper show, she surly will be fired. As Priscilla becomes a young lady, the man of the house shows an un-gentlemanly interest in her. Should she be "pleasant"? He may fire her. But if the wife finds out, she might get worse than just fired...and what if she got pregnant!
I liked that wall in your bedroom -can you tell me where you got it? Will you want to see pictures?

@grammapat -- I really like your setup story, and yes I would totally love to see pictures!
I plan to post some more of mine in a couple of days. All the walls in my pics are from Oak Alley as packaged by its creator, so you'll find them in there. If you want to use that house, I recommend you check out the comments on the download, as I put a few pieces of feedback in there that you might find useful (most importantly, I found that the stair edges were flashing blue until I downloaded some files that were intended to be included). I also ended up taking out the very uppermost spiral staircase in the attic and adding a couple of walls up there to make a nice servant suite.

Big Money finally is able to move his wife Lotta, and their daughter Buffy, into the biggest house in Shady Shores.
When they first moved here, they had to live in a field for a few days. His wife got busy making friends..
Buffy discovers money can't buy you happiness (she got rejected by 2 boys already)
But servant Priscilla is happy to be off the streets, even though her mom just died. The Money's are all so bad tempered, and not very bright. Can she be happy here?

I have started this and played about five Sim days. I have a family of four- two adults, a teen and a child. I have ACR though, and their autonomy is WAY high so there may be more on the way. . . I made them this really weird half goth, half IKEA house so that suits their personalities quite well.
The Dad keeps wandering around in his underwear, and I've given up trying to make them all eat at reasonable times. I just make sure there's always food out and try to call them to as many meals as possible.
My servant sim is really neat, and every time I tell her to clean something she does the 'yes!' gesture that sims do when they're happy with something you tell them to do. So I guess she's in the right job. . . She managed to get the kids into private school, even though the whole time her fun was in red and she was wailing at the air while giving the poor headmaster a tour. I guess he felt sorry for her. . . XD

@simobsessedwillow -- I'm glad to hear you're trying the challenge! Your family and their house sound really interesting, so I hope you'll share some pictures in the future. I have a hard time imagining a goth/Ikea house, so that's making me curious. It's funny that the dad keeps wandering around in his underwear. In my game, it's Beryl; she's constantly in her bra and panties. Whether she's wandering around the house, drinking at the bar, playing poker, at the dinner table, even having a random pillow fight in the front yard -- you name it, she's doing it while barely dressed. She's also naturally nocturnal, perhaps because her job as a professional party guest keeps her up into the late hours.
Keeping the family fed is quite a task! I know that the kids would get their hunger bars filled at school if they were low, but I really like the family to have breakfast, so I have David get up at like 4:45am to go downstairs and start cooking. I've started making some group meals ahead and putting them as leftovers in the fridge so I can serve them later. The hardest thing for me so far was toddler care, since I wasn't able to hire a nanny (some combination of my mods makes her too buggy to use).
Anyway, here's another set of pictures about David and the Rafflehoffs:
David’s second day with the Rafflehoff family
While David got up early to make breakfast, Stefano and Beryl took their time getting up, snoozing in bed well into the morning.
David was urged by the master of the house to eat in the dining room with the family, and so he sat down to eat and was immediately joined by the fifth member of the family: Stefano’s younger brother Cameron, whom David had not yet met.
Admittedly, it was a little bit uncomfortable for David that Cameron turned up with eyeshadow and a corset, then proceeded to chat casually about the weather. Pictured: David trying very hard to keep a straight face.
Young Master Blaine had apparently spent the night on the downstairs couch for no apparent reason.
David decided he should get started with building a relationship with Blaine, so he invited him to some chess. That, at least, was going very well.
Not so with young Tabitha. David needed to give her a bath, and her reaction was decidedly less than amused.
Tabitha seems to be thinking about how much she’d like to drown the new butler right about now. So much for getting along easily with the children of the family.
Meeting the Maid
Since David realized early on that there was no way he could keep the house clean while also cooking meals and taking care of a toddler, he was relieved when the maid service van pulled up. Meet Melissa, who swaggered up to the house with a fierce attitude and a confusingly risque uniform.
Glad to have another adult of his own station to talk to, David tried to strike up a conversation. He thought he’d invite her to lunch with him so they could get to know each other.
“Hey, Melissa, after you’re done with the upstairs, would you—“
“Oh, no no no – let’s get this straight right now, ok? I’ve been working here for three years now. You have any idea how many of you ‘butlers’ I’ve seen come and go? You just let me do my job and I let you do yours.”
“Whoa, hold on. I only thought you’d—“
“That I what? That I need some jerk in a vest to tell me how to do my job? Nuh uh. You go do your butler thing – whatever that is – and leave me alone.”
David didn’t quite know what to say.
Perplexed and defeated, he ended up eating his lunch alone in the kitchen. He missed his family and still couldn’t quite figure out how he ended up in the middle of all this madness. The only thing he could hope was that it would start getting easier very soon.

Aww poor David! I really felt sorry for him getting rejected by the maid and the toddler. :'( I love your dedication to breakfast. My butler-sim just leaves food out 24/7 as much as possible to avoid any starvation. The family can afford it- it's not like they're having to scrimp or save for anything XD
Here are some pictures
[IMG][/IMG]
This is my butler, Eliza. She's a shy, incredibly neat Sim who seems overly happy while cleaning and groans at having to do anything else.
[IMG][/IMG]
Here, in an extremely dignified pose, is the master of the house. He is obsessed with grilled cheese (yes he may have that aspiration. . .) and because of him the family eats nothing but grilled cheese in the hopes of achieving his lifetime want. I've added the rule to my game that if one of the family sims earns a lifetime want, Eliza gets a present because they are so happy.
[IMG][/IMG]
This is Angelina, the lady of the house. She enjoys: annoying the butler, weeing herself and juggling. She's a little bit of a weird sim, to be quite honest. Almost an evil mascot level of weird personality.
This little guy is Wesley, their science-obsessed son. My theory is that he buries himself in books to hide from his. . . interesting home life. He is definitely my favourite out of all of them (although I do have a thing for nerds anyway so :/)
The eldest, Melodina, is already in college. When she comes back I'll try to get some pictures

Chester Gieke needed a job quick, he doubted he had enough money left to even pay next month's rent at the boarding house. When he saw the ad for the butler job, he was overjoyed. It was good pay AND a place to live. He didn't know much about the family, just that they had recently moved to town and bought the big place on the other side of town (the rich side of town). He wasn't sure what he expected, but the family sure didn't look like what he imagined. The teen daughter (Starr) was goth with bright red hair. The dad (Jaxx) looked like a hippie and the mom (Melina), well...she was really exotic looking. Evidently, Jaxx was independently wealthy and did not work. Melina was a fortune teller and kept her job because she liked the work. They actually met when Jaxx went to her to help decide on whether to sell his company.
They gave him the tour of the house and outlined his duties. Being poor, he was a bit overwhelmed by the all the appliances in the kitchen but he was sure he could figure it out...eventually.
When they got upstairs, he met the fourth family member, Moon. For some reason, he was wearing a zombie shirt and they had pierced his ears.
They showed him the nursery. "Um, not the decor I would have gone with" he thought. He wondered if the kid had nightmares.
A few days on the job and he is getting the hang of it. Unfortunately, he did leave some bad food out and the teenager ate it. However, she didn't get sick so he didn't get in trouble (whew). About the time he started getting comfortable, Melina announced that she was pregnant. Chester is nervous, he is barely keeping all the current people fed and happy.
