Also, another stupid question: can you spawn the Make-A-Child box outside of CAS or is that not possible?

about custom neighborhood templates; the main site had a tutorial for making them in its help section.
the tutorial is now accessible through Wayback Machine version of site.

How hard is it to make a TF outfit fit an AF?
Would this be somethin that could easily be done by someone who can't even understand how to put patterns on outifts? ... lol
There is an outfit that is in both the teen and adult catagory. I've done some recolorin of the outfit and I'm wonderin which would be easier, to just recolor the adults or try and change the teen outfits available for adults?

Recolouring the adults would be easier. If it's the same outfit then often the UV map etc. are often identical and all you need to do is copy/paste the textures.

Type the word Spoiler twice, one right before the part of the post you wish to hide, one right after the end.
Put brackets around both,
Put a / between the first bracket and the S on the second one.
Like so: [hi]Text[/hi] (Hi is not a character string the program recognizes as a command, so it gets ignored. If you hit Reply and replace hi with Spoiler, and submit, you'll have a spoiler tag.
This is how all html tags work. The characters inside the brackets are the code telling the html what effect you want. Tags always come in pairs, with the second instance of the pair having the slash as a kind of punctuation, which means "end of effect." The first tag "opens" the effect, and the second one "closes" it.

I have a wild theory that it only ignores errors that are found in, for example, userStartup.cheat file. That's where I've found the cheat, anyway. Examples:
Without the cheat:
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true <- registered as valid cheat
intProp maxNumOfVisnkjrngSims 8 <- error in line, everything below is ignored ("file break")
boolProp controlPets true <- ignored
With the cheat:
ignoreErrors true
boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true <- registered as valid cheat
intProp maxNumOfVisnkjrngSims 8 <- error in line, ignore this line
boolProp controlPets true <- registered as valid cheat
I haven't tested any of this though, this is just a thought.

Many moons ago (and she's off on a reminiscence) not long after I first left school, I did an apprenticeship as a print compositor and worked on magazines and books (and latterly newspapers though not for long) for several years. A compositor is a fancy term for a typesetter. I started after the drive to digitalisation began and (long) before everything became digitised and visual. I used a linotype machine (technically a phototype machine) like this one:
though a slightly later model (that's the only picture I can find though there is a little about phototypesetting on the wikpedia history of typesetting page).
If you can see this picture (that's what it looked like)
You can see the coding used to make the print different sizes, fonts and colours. All the little highlighted squares are brackets where you put the codes in between for the type that followed and you took off the effect by using another bracket set that followed the end of the text you wanted to change using a backslash and the code (sound familiar?). Because the machine didn't show you, as today's modern computers now do, what the output was like, you used to have to imagine it. I still know my picas from my points and how they relate to ems and can visualise it all - I used to be able to output entire pages of print set properly - a skill long since unneeded I guess, but anyway.
BUT (getting to the point now) I did a course many years later and was amazed to discover that basically html is typesetting - it's exactly the same principle (and in many cases the same codes). I learnt to code webpages in about 5 minutes and my tutor was thunderstruck (until I explained). So y'all who can code html - you'd be fine if you were thrown back in time and had to make a living as a setter. It was a really surreal moment for me that. I couldn't believe it - I kept pointing at the screen and saying, but I know this. And then, of course, with html editors, you could see what the output looked like immediately. It took me a long time to use one of the higher level web page editors since I was so used to just writing the codes myself.

Word processors are/were the same way. An awful lot of the earliest coding was specifically for business machines (consider IBM), so of course the programmers, a lot of whom would have had typesetting experience, just transferred their familiar codes to the new medium. One reason I prefer Word Perfect to later programs is that WP was created by typesetters who could touch type, for touch typists, and as education changed around them they didn't drop the typists from consideration in later versions, just added options that would be more comfortable for programmers and people who couldn't touch type. They also let you take the lid off so you could figure out what you'd done wrong when you'd thoroughly confused the program. Unlike the Devil Program, Word, which was designed by programmers, who couldn't type, for office drones who would do what they were told and keep IT both contemptuous and busy because they didn't understand what their program was doing!
Most early web editors sucked, if you looked at the code, presumably because the companies hired programmers with no typesetting experience. When you checked under the hood on those things, everything was done in the messiest, least elegant way possible. I'd still rather do the fairly rudimentary html I ever need to do by hand. It's simpler.

That's interesting Peni - I used WordPerfect for years. The 90s and early 00s versions were so clean to look at and, yes, easy for me to use. I really liked that programme. It's such a shame Word has come to dominate. I'm not sure typesetting lead easily into coding though as a route people took through their employment - at least here anyway, they were two separate things. I started as a compositor (unusual for a girl at that time) and many boys at my school studied computing at university. They thought I was of the lower orders (I'm better qualified now than most of them but whatever). Having said that, those codes obviously did transfer from phototypesetting to computing somewhere along the line. The phototypesetting machines were just specialised computers, of course.

Here's something completely random. Before you creators run screaming, pulling your hair out, please remember, I can't create ANYTHING. I can't even get SimPE to work.
So anyway, I know animations are extremely difficult. But, why?

I think it depends if they are using an animation that is already in the game or a new one from scratch. For example, a creator might take the animation of a sim crotching to select a book and perhaps use that to make it look like they are crouching to fix something. If there is no animation even close to what they need, I am guessing they have to somehow bend sim joints. I have not even the foggiest how they do that.

(Reading the posts here.)
"I never even KNEW there was a death by rally forth, or that making a baby selectable is not going to make my hood go 'kaboom'! You mean, I didn't have to worry way back then when I did the baby thing accidentally? Cool!" (I got rid of that hood when I reinstalled back in 2013 anyway, but it was nice to know I didn't find Way #5 or 10 to corrupt my game that few, if any, people knew about.)
(While finally, after years of putting this off, renaming CC to get rid of brackets, ampersands etc. using Bulk Renamer.) "Just how many of these files HAVE this stuff in there? I'm barely over the halfway point after about eight hours!!" (One creator particularly has a habit of using brackets, and I like a LOT of her stuff.)
(Seeing my game load 33% faster, even though I have at least 30% to go.) "Wow! I no longer can make a sandwich, get a drink and eat lunch in the time it takes for the game to load!"
And ... sorry ... wrong section. But since I was already quoted, I'll leave this here. No stealthy delete this time!

Not sure what you're asking here but it's possible to delete all the road out in front of a lot. You use moveobjects on to do it.

Are you saying that your CC is loading faster just because you renamed files?

Way random. Occasionally, well..often, my big fat fingers will accidentally hit the tab button. This moves the camera somewhere I don't want it to go and removes the dashboard. How do i get the dashboard back? Some lucky times I can get out of the game and go to desktop and the dashboard will be back when I return. Other times I will press every f'in f key and still can't get back. This forces me to reboot my computer and swear a lot.
How can I avoid this? Other than not hitting the stupid key to begin with, of course, because that seems to be a necessary part of my life.

If you hit tab again does it not put it back? That's how it works in my game, hit tab to enter "cameraman mode" which you control the camera with the a,s,w,d,q,e keys, and then tab again to get back out of it.

I have somehow managed to hit something in the uploading screen that turned on overwrite for text. It drives me nuts when I upload something. DX

Hit the "insert" key. That's what toggles between insert text and overwriting. On an American QWERTY keyboard it should be right next to the delete button.
Smorbie, hit the tab key again. This will probably send you to an angle you don't want, so in that case you hit the Tab key, experiment with the mouse till you find a comfortable angle, then hit Tab and you're back. The only time this has ever gotten messed up for me is when I'm using a screenshot program that uses the F10 key, which is also the key that takes away the UI without putting you in cameraman mode. This was...a tad confusing for me. So if hitting Tab doesn't seem to get you out, hit F10. And then possibly Tab again. Because stuff gets weird.

The animating programs that are compatible with Sims 2 have their own learning curve, and they are not as powerful as whatever EA used. And because there aren't a lot of custom animations out there, there aren't a ton of comprehensive tutorials for TS2. So you have to be willing to experiment and put in a lot of time to create an animation that is likely not going to be as smooth as the ones in the game.
