Default Sims 2 Hair showing up as bald head
Hi, I just downloaded several hairs from Lilith (Leahlilith slow mo, leahlilith soundwave, among others) and they have their meshes, but whenever I enter bodyshop or the game itself, they just appear as bald heads. I'm pretty sure it's not due the poly count, since I have countless hairs that with higher poly count and they still appear in the game. It can't be the meshes, because they were included in each download, unless I'm missing something else. Could the problem be that they're retextures? If so, that means I have to look for the "original" hairs right? Thanks in advance for any response!

Btw, many of them are 4t2 conversions. That could be the problem? I really want to use those hairs for creating characters, so if I can't fix it I'd be delighted, but it's okay.

What are your graphic settings ingame? You need "sim detail" on high for items like this.

Bald heads usually either means a missing mesh, or a high-poly hair your game can't read properly. You may also want to make sure the hairs aren't put too deep into your downloads folder, because this can cause the items to be glitchy. There's also a possibility that the person converting the hair used the original textures, and those are often up in the 2048/4096 size for TS4 items, and it may be that your game can't handle those sizes. They're usually also vertical textures.

Not sure if there are other things that could cause this issue.

You might have shaders off. Try turning shaders on, however, if you are on a lower end computer you might not want to stress your game by doing this since in some it can cause the dreaded pink flashing.

Start watching at 6.46 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLkmxAg7r3Y for an explanation.

I think it's activated, but I'm gonna check. A missing mesh isn't the problem but the high poly thing could be even tho other similar hairs are read correctly. I don't understand that "put too deep" so if you could explain it I'd be pleased haha. Yeah maybe that's the case, but wouldn't it be weird if other people with "worse" laptops than mine could handle them?

I think I already have them on, but I don't know what shaders means in spanish (my game is in spanish) so I'll try to check what setting is off among all. Thanks, I'll try reducing my high poly hairs then, even though months ago I didn't have this problem with these hairs. Yesterday I downloaded these by amila and lilith and it turned out that they appeared as bald. I'm gonna enter the game now.

Pretty sure most of the game info (except some file names) and cheat codes are in English, even if your game is installed in Spanish, so that shoulddn't be a problem. The only things not in English in my game are the game names in the "Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES" folder.

How to turn on shaders, and how to figure out if they're on or off: http://modthesims.info/wiki.php?tit...aps_and_Shaders

Lmao thanks for the link, my shaders are off... I'm gonna make the changes and tell you if it worked!

EDIT: Already made the changes to ALL the files, going to open BodyShop and see if it worked.

Do you have links for some of those hairs (I tried googling, but found only the TSR links)? Could be interesting to figure out why those issues happen only with certain hairs, and how to fix it.

Converting TS4 hairs is basically the same as converting TS3 hairs, and the only differences are the extraction programs, the size+shape of the texture, and that you need to make a base texture for the TS3 hairs.

According to the video I posted its because shaders are an integral part of making the hair.
