Default How you guys implement prisons on your game?
I just found out about the electric chair cc and this gave me an idea of implement prisons into my game. I am curious to know how other people do it to help me with ideas.
So how you guys do it?

Maybe what you want is Inge's prison system.

That's a really old download, I use to have it back in 09. Quite lethal.

I still have it in the game. It's rarely used, but it certainly does work.

I sometimes just stick it in houses. It's not lethal unless you want it to be (Simslice version anyway). Pick a fight with my sims. Slap him around a bit for looking at your sloppy yard through the telescope. Have a seat!

Okay, I've never actually done that. But someday I will (I dream big)

Must be a different chair smorbie as the one I had (probably still do someplace) was lethal if sat on.

This is the electric chair that DbCAB made and it's quite the shocker if a pixel sits on it.

It's not exactly parlor quality furniture unless a pixel is the executioner.

That I do not know. Anyone else? When I searched for it via DuckDuckGo I got these search results, one link of which leads to Simlogical Institution Mod Updates/Fixes right here on MTS.

Thanks for the new electric chair, guys. The simslice version can be set so it's just an ugly chair or kills people. I honestly don't think I've ever used it for the latter purpose.

I have the simlogical prison system, and I might use it to keep the pregnant women in Elsewhere inside their rooms. If the Counsel hasn't awarded them permission to have a baby, they have to hide themselves and child. It can be difficult, and more than once I've had women wandering where they aren't supposed to be.

The way I actually have prisons is in districts or colonies. These are no-man's lands. They have to figure out how to grow crops, find water, build their own homes, and everything. They are allowed no intervention from the outside.

The closest thing I have to prisons is the boot camp for wayward teens, and children (when the orphanage is full). It's kind of a pain in the butt because I lock them in at night and out during the day, but I have to do each door manually. I don't have the prison system, but I'm looking into it now. It seems like a much easier solution.

Did you find the door? If not, I believe it's here (reply #29 by SaraMk):

I don't have prisons but it may be something I look into. For now, sims just get shunned to a hard-to-see corner of the neighborhood and watch as all their more interesting friends/acquaintances age and expire while they remain the same and mostly under house arrest.

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

I "borrowed" Smorbie's idea (thanks Smorbie!), and exile my criminals to a desert subhood. The only problem is that they keep showing up where they shouldn't. The Visitor Controller has a "ban non-locals" option, but I only want to ban Sims from that one subhood, so I tried using Inge's prisoner token. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it would make my Sim want to escape, and one day she just wandered off the lot and became a townie, which was particularly awkward because she was pregnant, and her partner wanted the child. I finally managed to get her back home and remove the prisoner token just long enough for her to give birth, then gave it back to her; she ran off and now she's a townie forever, and her abandoned husband is a single dad.

I previously had a "proper" prison, using Inge's system, where I made the prisoners work at making pottery all day, six days a week, and on Sundays they studied things like Anger Management. They were allowed to receive one phone call a day, but could only make a call on Sunday. Well-behaved Sims served only two-thirds of their original sentence; Sims who got into a fight had their sentence extended, and if they kept getting into fights they never got parole, even if they had served their original time.

I don't sweat the small stuff. If I see a prisoner doing a walkby, I don't worry about it. I usually just ignore it. I don't play community lots at all, so I don't have to worry about them showing up there. I always thought I'd use the prisoner token if I did want to play a community lot. But...I'd probably just ignore them there, too.

I've seen several people get confused by the prison system and have this problem. What you need to use is the prisoner tag, not the token. The tag looks like a compact disk. Put a tag into the inventory of any sim you want treated as a prisoner. The Visitor Controller will automatically detect and ban all sims that have prisoner tags in their inventories. You shouldn't need to set or configure anything.

<Raises hand from the back>

I actually kind of... enjoy playing prisons? I've cooked up a lot of ways for my naughty pixels to do time - mostly stemming from an unfortunate incident where one kicked over their neighbour's trashbin and the whole family came down with flu that killed one of the adults and nearly wiped out the entire household. After that I was like "ABSOLUTELY NOT YOU LITTLE... " and started doing them for reckless endangerment when I caught them at it.

I'm planning to start up my Simblr again list out all my boring details, but I'll spare you guys the ramble this time. Basically, when a pixel has committed a crime, (and a uniformed police sim was on the lot to see it), the pixel is arrested and taken to the county jail. That might be the end of it for a minor offense. They'll spend the night, be charged a fine and go home. I use Inge's prison system too, but not at this stage.

However, especially naughty pixels (who couldn't afford the lawyer's fees) go to the big house. That's where the prison system comes in. They're tried in court first, and the court is on the same lot as the prison as they will be sentenced there if they're found guilty. From there, they're sentenced, their clothes are swapped from whatever fancy nonsense they show up in, to the fabulous prison togs I found somewhere, and then they're assigned a cell. Because one month is one in-game day, I vary the length of the sentence, but a pixel could conceivably serve up to a year (12 game days) or 6 months (6 game days) or even longer depending on how bad they were and how much I want them punished.

My prisoners continue to age along with the rest of their neighbourhood because I find it interesting to play the actual prison lot. I have a warden who lives there and keeps an eye on things in a little house outside the barbed wire fence, and guards who are in Inge's prison guard career. If there are fights time is added to the sentence, and I don't push male and female sims to separate prisons or separate halls, I let them all mingle (it's easier than maintaining gender quotas). Sims can work out while they're in the pen just like in real life, and they can read and study in the prison library if they choose, but they aren't allowed to work or earn any money for themselves. They work alright - but all money they earn is debted to the prison 'household'. I like having them digging as work, since it's unskilled, but skilled prisoners who are on good behaviour are allowed to craft at crafting stations and earn badges.

They're also barred from certain careers once they've served time - so no teaching, medicine, or military career tracks. I note it in their bio so I remember the conviction and the time served. I do allow family visits, and it's possible for a sim to be pregnant while incarcerated. They give birth in the prison hospital and the child is sent to the nearest relative or an orphanage if there isn't one. No families are allowed to live on the prison lot except the warden's.

I don't execute my pixels... it's hard for me to see any character I've created as truly evil or worthy of death, so that's kind of where it differs from real life - sims can't really be evil lol That said, if they do die in prison it's probably from some sickness or something that I didn't catch in time, and I'll let that storyline stand since it's interesting and happened by chance.

I love your idea. I have to confess one of the reasons I chose to banish my sims rather than imprison them, is so I could play a medieval-ish hood without have one designated just for that.

In my handmaid hood, handmaids, Marthas, and Eyes are taken only from the prison colonies.

What's been interesting to me, is that people in the districts or colonies eventually develop communities with bartering stores and very small schools (because children are not allowed to attend school). If I could figure out a way to make a private police force and fire department, I would be so happy.

I just keep it simple. I have a police station with a cell in it. If an NPC burglar gets caught, they have to stay in the cell for 3 days. They can come out to eat and shower (and sometimes clean). AFter 3 days, they go on "probation" and get a job working at an owned business.

So do you play a whole police station? Is that also were your Sims in the Law Enforcement career go to work? I heard some people do a kind of active career set-up in Sims 2.

That would all be way too complicated for me. I never involve any NPCs in any of my gameplay. My Sims only go to prison due to story reasons or because they get fired in criminal careers due to a lost chance card. And even then it's just a badly constructed lot where I just age them along with the rest of the neighbourhood until their term is up.
Well and now there's an electrical chair thanks to this thread.
