Chapter 8 - Room for Two
"Hi kids! Hey Lilith," Darren and Cassandra enter through the front door.
"Lilith, what are you doing here this late?"
Cassandra asks Mary-Sue's daughter.
"Nothing. I just stopped by to see Dirk here. I saw him so
I guess I'll get going now," answers the girl, forcing a smile.
Seeing the unsettling look on the girl's face, Cassandra realizes
something had happened between the two teenagers.
"No, you should come home with me. It's not safe for a girl
like yourself to be walking around in the middle of the night."
say Cassandra, suddenly feeling protected of the fragile Lilith.
"Now go wait in Darren's car, love. It's getting late. We'll be with you
in a few minutes," the woman suggests in a rather strong manner.
Dirk Dreamer was ready to walk upstairs to his room when Cassandra
interrupts, "Dirk, shouldn't you walk your girlfriend to the car?"
"No that's alright Aunt Cass. I don't want to trouble him.
I'll see you at school, Dirk," says Lilith quickly, fearing the
awkwardness of being alone with her ever so loving boyfriend.
"Bye," Dirk Dreamer quickly walks upstairs to his room.
"She's an emotional wreck, that girl." Cassandra turns to
her best friend, "Her family is going through so much lately."
"I know. I don't understand why Mary-Sue is still married to that
cheating husband of hers." Darren responds then quickly changes
the subject, "Come here. I've got something for you."
Darren leads the lady into his office.
"Darren, is this what I think it is??" screams Cassandra.
"Yep, it's the Luminous Pro Antique Camera. I found two of them
at an auction downtown and I thought I'd get this one for you."
"Oh Darren, thank you so much!"
"No problem, dear," Darren replies, though wishing now more than
ever, that he is the one marrying her instead of that player Don.
"Well, we better get you and Lilith home. Don't wanna make your
fiancé wait too long."
------Meanwhile-----
"Everything okay in here? You guys better hit the hay soon.
It's gonna be a long drive tomorrow.”
"Yeah we just finished the last game, which I totally won, Marshall!"
"Ha. I just went easy on you because you're girl," says Marshall London,
as he walks to Dreamer guest room. "I'll see you in the morning, man."
"Yeah, that's right walk away, Marshie," says Sydney, "Was that
Lilith down there, Dirk? How come she didn't come up and say hi."
"Yeah, she didn't want to stay once I told her you were here. I
don't really know what her problem is. She's just being so rude,"
"Well, we just don't see eye to eye, that's all. Plus, I felt
like she was always out to get me for some reason. You know
how vengeful Lilith can be.
Don't you Dirk?"
Quickly changing the subject when he realizes the change
in atmosphere now that only he and Sydney are in the room,
he says, "Ready for bed now? I'll walk you to your room."
Sydney glanced at Dirk's bed and then back at him, "You know Dirk,
your bed is big enough for two people… and I hate sleeping alone."
