Well, the new trailer looks pretty cool, I have to admit. Though EA is really good at "staging" things to make it look different than how it really acts in the game. I've never really cared for pets much in my games, it's just another thing to look after and keep alive, but I have to admit that I'm pretty interested in this one! (Plus, the kittens look MUCH cuter!!)

Now it has been officially announced, does that mean Pets is the final name? Would have preferred something new.

I so hope that the pets can hide under the beds, I would love to see Sims on their knees trying to get their pet out from under there. I also liked the dog protecting the boy that was being bullied, but I imagine that was staged. I would also like the dogs (and possible cats) chasing burglars away.

And I wonder how big a lot is needed to keep horses and if there are any other animals? I really want rabbits.

This one I am really looking forward to. I bet there will be some sort of vet job, hopefully if there is, it wont be a rabbit hole. I would also love to see a bigger version of Sunset Valley, there is no longer enough room.

Ha, ha, love the dogs chasing after the burglar and the kitten hiding under the bed. The obstacle course for the horses is nice. Wonder if we'll be able to host competitions, or whether the cowboys will be able to compete in a rodeo. And since they're giving us horses, polo would be nice too.

I cannot wait for this one.
I'm a huge animal lover and this kitten alone makes me want to buy the game:

I am really hoping that the new occult will be werewolves again. They were my favorite occult in the Sims 2, and I would love to have them back for Sims 3. I don't mind if they are just wolves or the half wolf/ half man form as long as they're back.
Looking at 1:14 in the official trailer, I thought that was a wolf, but I think it's just a normal dog.

I hope there are other animals though like birds and guinea pigs/hamsters (I forgot what they were called in Sims 2). I remember the leaked trailer having a snake and wild animals such as deer and raccoons, so I'm hoping that there will be more information on that as well.

awwww, Matrix, i love how we can count on you for creating these type of threads!
as the animal lover that i am, i know this will be my favorite sims3 EP.
which kinda spoils it a bit for Generations, which i will start playing tomorrow...oh well.

I think there is a snake (I should add it to objects, I'm sure it's nothing more).
On the Exclusive Venue thing, I saw the sign for pets with giant cat and a flying bird, so I guess we'll get one of those.

Hopefully, if we get certain pets that we don't clean the cages or whatever, you get sick from them. That'd be very nice.

I do what I can. I can't exactly say I'm looking forward t it (that who pet store fiasco), but I'm happy people will enjoy it. Now, you all have your pets, where's my carnivals and amusement parks!

So, three days after Generations release, they put a trailer for the next EP? At least they realized that Generations sucked hard? LOL

I love pets, I have a dog and I had lots of cats in the past. Horses are something I wanted since Sims 1 so I'm thrilled with this. Seriously, I was really sadwith the franchise because of the Generations fiasco but I think I'll be happy again with Pets. ♥

Yay for mischievious kittens and puppies. So adorable. Hope the game play is different than Sims 2, although I did play them, I didn't really enjoy them. Looks like things have changed.

*Horsies* I am ga-ga over this. I sure hope the dogs can be trained to chase the burglars and hopefully the paparazzi. I would find that entertaining. Sounds like there is a horse ranch lot, wonder if that is a community lot.

While werewolves would be nice, I would personally like to see the return of Witches/Warlocks! Other than vampires, they are my personal favorite type of occult characters, and I feel like it'd also be really smart of EA to include magic in the next EP considering the upcoming *last* Harry Potter film and the focus of the new season of True Blood (witches!).

I hope they're refining the graphics still, because a lot of the dogs in the trailer look like the missing link between TS1 and TS2 pets. The kitties, however, are precious, and it seems like they might be able to poof out their tails and get their hackles up? That'd be a nice touch.

I think jobs are okay to have for pets, because, although sort of rare, there are animal "jobs" in real life (mostly security and a few "actors"). However, if they do like they did for TS2 and include only jobs for them-- at the expense of something relatively more common, like the TS1 pet shows-- I'm going to be so disappointed.

If I recall correctly, the Life Stories Pets game also had obstacle course equipment for dogs, which would support the other half of canine showmanship (athleticism and training instead of behavior/breeding). Just think if Sims could train their pups to be Frisbee dogs! :lovestruc Of course, that requires animations and coding, whereas jobs are easy and relatively effortless.

Back in the day, they used to put a flyer for the next EP in the box for the current one. You could have the excitement of a new game plus the excitement of finding out what the next was going to be, all in the same day.

I've never been a huge fan of the occult creatures, so I really don't care if they include that.

I don't know, though... after Generations, I'm going to hold off on getting excited. Pets in Sims 2 sucked and EA has done a good job of letting me down so far. So, no excitement for this one.

While I technically agree with this statement (Makin' Magic FTW!) I'd actually prefer for EA to give us magic sooner rather than later, because it seems to be the trend to make witches the last occult introduced in a Sims series before the new series comes out Plus I feel that since witches are traditionally believed to have feline "familiars", it would make a lot of sense to include them this time around. I know that with the Sims 2 if you had Apartment Life but not Pets your witches/warlocks couldn't have "spectral cats", which I would imagine really sucked (I had both EPs so no problems here).

Oh yea, I forgot about that. I remember going crazy when I saw Sims 2 in Sims 1 MM and Sims 3 on Sims 2 AL (oof, that was complicated lol).

That is true indeed. Well, I doubt they'll put so much effort on a single EP, but it would be cool to have magic in October already. I miss magic, since I never played with witches in Sims 2.

If they brought back both werewolves and witches, I would be the happiest simmer in the world.

Although I liked the witches from Sims 1 better than Sims 2, I might be a bit biased on that due to Makin' Magic having that "old world" feel that I love.
I think werewolves would be a nice addition in the Sims 3 Pets, but I am not sure if they are going to count the Grim Reaper riding the horse as the "new occult" or if it will just be an extra addition.

It would be really cool to have a pet sitter job similar to the day care profession, or having pet shows like they did in Sims 1.

Here's a lolcat to tide us over until the fall.

The dog you see at the ranch place is meant to be a bull terrier I think.
And that brown-ish one with the long face and ears was probably supposed to be a dacshund. (Not that it really looks much like one, but from their past attempts at dog breeds I'd say it's a good bet)
Dobermans chasing the burglar.
In the old video there was the dalmation too.

That cat hiding under the furniture had a bit of a British Shorthair face to her, but to me cats are all quite similar :S

edit: Where'd you see the Aussie? Was it in a promo picture or did I miss it in the trailer?

This EP looks even better than the original trailer made it out to be.

I do hope they didn't remove the wild animals, though. Surely they didn't.

It's nice to see that they have a lot to do with horses and that they aren't just a 'gimmick'. I've never really been all of that into horses (ponies are cute, though!), but I really think I'd have fun with the horses in this game.

Looks like they expanded dogs and cats as well.

Most of all I'm excited for open and customizable pet store lots. ^_^

Looks like EA might get this one right. :D

♫ Keeping this here until EA gives us a proper playable woodwind/brass instrument ♫
For now, though, my decorative Bassoon conversion for TS4. =)

I wonder if mods will be able to make it different sizes so we can make ponies and unicors? That would be kind of awesome. LOL

I'm a bit wary of this one. TS2 Pets really wasn't the greatest EP, and when my PC crashed I reinstalled all of my EPs except for Pets. I just felt it didn't really add much to the game.
TS3 Pets (How confusing!) looks to be a bit better, but from the trailer. Which I have a nasty habit of being disappointed by.
Anyway, why do I get the feeling that, if we are seeing cats, dogs, and horses in the trailer, we are only going to be getting cats, dogs, and horses? Well, I'm going to hope that we're still getting wild animals and such, but IIRC in the TS2Pets trailer, didn't they even show womrats?

Wow, so it's official! I miss internet for one day, and all this news explodes. While I prefer weather to pets, I am still glad to see a pets remake. I knew it'd happen, just a matter of when.

Horses are definitely going to be the highlight of this pack. They have been requested since forever. The fact that Sims can use them as transportation is amazing. Perhaps the first EP of TSM will have this feature? Why would a modern game have horses and not a medieval one? Either way, I'm looking forward to more on this pack.

Do you think that the deer and raccoons will just be random pests to add to your Sims' troubles rather than be adoptable? Or will they just be illusions?
