Default This is why I can't stand Lady GaGa
Lady GaGa totally copied Roisin Murphy's style. Roisin Murphy was BEFORE Lady Ga Ga, and this is for all of you who think Lady GagMe is unique:

I dislike her. Not because of that. Too much sexual information in her songs, that my mother couldn't even decode. GROSS.

Music has made me who I am. Thank you Katy Perry. <3

No one other than little pop fans actually think this woman is 'original'. She's just another little sheep pop singer pushing the "out there" thing to convince people she's more than just a little product being sold a certain way, when in reality she isn't much more than just that. =O Just like madonna.

And I'm sure Roisin Murphy has influences as well.

I see a lot of Grace Jones in both their styles; I think they're both very much in touch with high-end fashion rather than actively jacking one another's individual style. Neither of them are unique to look at really this look and pop music go hand in hand.

And the sad thing is, Roisin doesn't wear outlandish costumes so much anymore because of all this. Roisn could've been the huge superstar that lady Ga Ga is, but Roisin chose to not sell out so much.

Oh My God! They both wore black sun-glasses this one time! 'kay, so I have no idea who this Roisin bird is so maybe I'm not qualified to comment on this topic but some of the comparisons on that video were laughable. I mean it is entirely possible for two different people to wear a white dress with sunnies or a funny hat that has round bits on it. C'mon, srsly?
I happen to think similar to RingzTerritory that she tries too hard to look quirky and unusual but I doubt that she stalks this Roisin to see what quirky outfits are/were ‘in’. That said, she could idolise her and take influences from her, I don't see the problem with that.

I may not be qualified to comment on this since i have no idea who Roisin is, but i think Lady Gaga is Lady Gaga, Roisin is Roisin. If they may where slightly simmillar things, does it really matter? Sure, Lady Gaga does seem to try a bit too hard to be quirky sometimes, but with singers, the music matters more than the outfits. And yes, soem of Lady Gaga's music references to gross stuff, but it's still okay.

I'm confused...It says on your profile that some of your interests are Lady Gaga and Katy Perry...isn't she also known to have quite racy lyrics? ...Not unlike Miss GaGa. (I could be wrong, I don't listen to her songs much)

Good observation. I saw a little Marilyn Monroe (the hairstyle on one), a little Grace Jones, a little 60's , 80's, 90's,etc. Fact is, most of these styles have been done before ... some even more than 40 years before!

Most songs have been done before, most fashions have been done before. And this is nothing new. Rolling Stone called one mega-famous group the greatest borrowers in the world. Their once-trendsetting haircut actually borrowed from another style, and members of this group acknowledged that they musically borrowed from certain musical idols of theirs. Oh, and the style they made famous worldwide was borrowed from a famous designer.

Can you guess which group?

So no, the Lady Gaga pictures don't bother me. Part of being old, I guess.

I hate Lady Gaga. Katy Perry, has no racy lyrics. It's just putting it into a teenagers perspective (ur so gay, and you don't even like boys). Gaga on the other hand, that's a way different story...

I have to agree about the whole style-copy thing, it really isn't that big of a deal...Roisin wasn't the first person to wear any of that gear and Lady Gaga probably won't be the last!

Fashion aside, I don't really like Lady Gaga anyway as a person, her songs are annoyingly catchy but thats as far as it goes. She is rather weird to say the least!

I dislike Lady Gaga for three main reasons

1.) She's trying too hard to be different, which ironcially, comes off as being cliche
2.) She's a whore (or at least portrays herself as one)
3.) She has no genuine talent and does not belong in a music industry

I don't find that very comparable to "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick" and other gems like that.

yeh, i kissed a girl is kind of made in a teen-ish kind of way, however Gaga's songs are... well... not.

This doesn't sound very 'teen-ish' to me;

On the whole I guess her lyrics aren't as raunchy as Gaga's but I think KP's overall image is raunchier. Lady G is a lot of things but I wouldn't say sexy is one of them.

I wasn't all that stoked on Gaga at first, i mean i knew she was big before she started using her own lyrics for herself rather than selling them to other artists. But when she decided to perform her own work she sky rocketed to the top. Oh i wonder why.

I like her lyrics, maybe its because i think sex is natural and for those who things its a taboo and should stay behind closed doors, well then you'll see it diffidently when you grow up. (hopefully)

I rather listen to an artist who is upfront with what her message is without being tacky like Rammstein new song. You guys brought up Katy Perry, well honestly songs like that cant be more sell out. "I kissed a girl" pretty much just says "Oh im straight and a good girl but i got curious and wentgay for 5min, I hope my boyfriend doesn't mind"

What the hell? Either youre gay or youre not. Just annoying.

Anyways, After i saw Lady Gagas performance at the VMA's my view changed of her. Now i think shes an artist who actually tries to do what she wants instead of what her record company wants.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kyDBpXgEVg&feature=fvw

Edit: Oh and, she sings it live. In other words she can sing.

It's easy to sit and hate behind your computer screens and say you dont like her due to her personality. You have to keep in mind that these people are performers. They take an essence of who they are and puts on a show. Unless you know them Personally behind the scenes, in their own homes. You cant say you know them. So until you manage to accomplish something great by simply being who you are the really, just be quiet.

This is coming from someone who isnt even a Gaga fan, I think she does good music. I don't know her though so im not placing any judgment on her. But she does her job well, she delivers hit songs over and over again. If you dont like her music then dont listen to it. Why do you have to go to personal attacks on someone you dont even know?

Sex is awesome but I don't need to hear others' sexual experiences on the radio. Music should stay music, not audio porn.

Actually, She's extremely talented. Musically, she has a very good background, Classically and Contemporary, in different instruments and grades. Here is an example of her playing an acoustic version of Poker Face. Here is annother version, to show that she actually *does* Play it xD Link.

I however, think she's for a personal taste, like many, many bands are.

I'm a the "sex is natural" person too. I think it's really sickening how people so freely call women whores and skanks simply for being in touch with themselves as sexual creatures.

From what I have heard, Lady Gaga is one of the few big names who seems to have an artistic vision and message behind her music. Plus, she got to where she is despite being (let's face it) rather unattractive, what with all the "she's a man!" accusations. I can respect that.

I also hated that "I kissed a girl" song. That song was all about straight girls kissing other straight girls to turn their straight boyfriends on. Complete sell-out.

Wow, amazing performance! It had a lot of subversive qualities in it. From this, I agree that she's doing her own thing.

Also, for the person comparing Lady Gaga to Madonna, I actually consider that one of the highest compliments. Old school Madonna was a cultural legend. Musically, I think she made a lot of disposable songs, but she was exceptionally talented as a visual artist in communicating her message.

I suppose in general, I respect musical artists who show a strong perspective in their work and are willing to push the boundaries. (Even if I don't listen to their songs.)

Okay, nothing against Gaga, but I am sick of the comparisons. They are COMPLETLY different, one has humor, other has sex. I choose the humor. You need to understand this. Everyone has their own opinion, but Katy, she atleast has a sense of how teenagers are. Gagas' is for matured ages ONLY. Katy's not asking everyone to go out and kiss a girl, but to be yourself, Her BEST friends are both G-A-Y. They find no harm. She's being herself. Gaga's being her writers, she Co-Writes ALL of her songs. Unlike, Katy Perry.

See, two different people.

Lol, I understand, I wasn't having a personal dig at you (or anyone) just saying that I don't think KP is as sweet an innocent as some of you make her out to be. From the few that I've seen I think her outfits, dancing and acting suggest far more than her PG lyrics do. I'm well aware that she wasn't making remarks against gay people, I do get the humour and I can see the appeal for teenagers. I don't have anything against either of them (though I wouldn't take style tips from either) however, I agree with the others on here who see Gaga as a massive talent who just happens to be quite open about some things.

I'm not sure why but KP just comes across to me as a sculpted and polished to perfection pop product whereas I kinda see Gaga as more independant and artistic. Hmm,...I could be completely wrong though, I don't really go out of my way to listen to their stuff and learn about them
