What's a feature you'd like in the Sims 4?
Yes, yes, I know, everybody asks this question, but we want to get the word around. A feature I think could be cool in The Sims 4 is to be able to go to work, or school with your Sims, and also being able to build your own schools and workplaces.

I'd assume this is about totaly new features that havent been done in the sims before?

heres a couple of things:

-Sports for children.
Would be neat if kids could practice various sports. Usually it would be practice, but occasionly there could be a competition or match that they can get nervous about. Parents could encourage their kids with sports but could also overdo it and be too fanatical about it, liking it more than their own children.

-Your sims on TV.
Seeing how sims can be news anchor and such, why not show them on TV for your sims, presenting the news? and that news could include some local stuff that actually happened in your town. Sims getting arrested, a large party going on, the new mayor winning the elections, etc. Famous sims could also appear in talk shows, be subject of gossip if they cheated on their partner or otherwise misbehaved, in the cooking career sims could become a tv chef, etc.
Sims watching the tv could respond to it when they see someone they know.

-Limited job positions.
Somehow there can be an unlimited amount of mayors, emperors of evil, police chiefs, etc.
I'd like to see job positions being realisticly limited so that there actually needs to be an opening for promotions and in the political career, the last few jobs being obtained through elections.
This will add more value and a sense of accomplishment when your sim gets a certain jobs.
There could still be unlimited nurses, patrol officers, commando's, etc. But leadership positions should be limited. Doesnt always need to be limited to 1, but I'd like to get the idea that each career actually has some functionality to it.

-Special bonds between siblings.
Theres not really much going on between siblings, sims being siblings just means they cant have romantic interactions with each other. I really think that there should be quite a few unique interactions between siblings, especially in various stages of childhood.
Children should understand toddlers better than older sims would for example, they can relate to them so much more. They also still play a lot themselves, and should be able to be sort of the "game leader" as they play with a toddler sibling, allowing them to play games they cant play alone or with teens and adults. Like playing with a dollhouse together. (and the child sim getting upset when the toddler sticks stuff in his/her mouth.) Some of these interactions should be possible for childish teens and adults though.
Siblings of the same gender could really admire their older brother or sister and try to imitate them. They would be their rolemodel wether they want it or not. Older siblings could also get very protective about those younger than them.
But of course the sibling bonds arent always positive. Siblings should also be able to annoy each other in unique ways. Such as repeating everything the other one says, barging into their room when they have a friend over, tease each other, get each other into trouble with their parents, etc.

-Vices.
Each sim should have a vice. Something they really like to do that may not always be positive.
It could be eating, sleeping, videogaming, sports, drinking nectar, cars, bikes, woohoo, playing with toys, doing dangerous things, etc.
If cars is their vice, they'd be embarassed about riding a cheap car and would crave to have a specific car and would spend lots of time polishing it once they have it. They might get upset if others drive that car.
Doing dangerous things could replace the daredevil trait. Kids could do acrobatics on swingsets, do stunts with skateboards and otherwise do slightly dangerous things. Adults could do more dangerous things that could end in death even.
Sims that like to eat would need to watch their weight carefully, they never skip a meal and might crave to eat specific things. Poor meals could make them upset even.
Sims that like videogames will play them a lot and might neglect other things, they could enjoy playing at arcades too and would often play videogames with their friends.
Drinking nectar as a vice could kind of replace alcohol addiction. Drinking too much nectar could make sims a bit clumbsy. Light alcoholic effects could be shown but nothing too serious. These sims might crave to drink specific kinds of nectar.

As the person above me said, special interactions between siblings. Since I'm a weird kind of person, I'd particularly want something between multiples. It's rare in real life and in game, and it's far too interesting to not have anything attached. I've no idea what you could do, I'm not really creative, but ya

I'd like new life stages (preteen, late teens and middle age) and the ability to customize the plumbob out of community lots (i.e. pick out the uniform if there are NPCs, pick out the types of food available in a restaurant, pick out the type of music being played, etc). I'd also like jobs to make more sense. If a sim goes to work as a cop, I'd like him or her to show up when a cop is called instead of some random NPCs. But without the hassle of having to babysit them through their entire work day.

If there are new life stages, maybe give Late Teen sims the option to woohoo like YAs.

I've been thinking about this a bit recently and here are the thoughts I most enjoyed thinking about. They involve combining control over my own personal sims with allowing a certain amount of individual development and an aspect of Sim City building:

I'm a TS2 player. I tried TS3 but couldn't get on with it. Although I felt it had other problems, the major issue for me was the way in which your sims would develop without your input once you left a lot/family. I know this was later ameliorated with mods but as a whole-hood player, it just killed TS3 for me (along with TS3's other problems) - stone dead, absolutely stone dead. OTOH, one of the things I REALLY liked about TS3 was the whole hood thing. The ability to wander everywhere, see other sims doing their thing and, with CAW, the ability to create a real sense of place in a custom neighbourhood - that is really attractive to me. Is there a middle way? (well, yes, I think the mods for TS3 showed that there could be).

What got me thinking about this was something else. I was thinking about possible EPs for TS4 that have not been done before. One thing, I thought, I might like is an EP focussed on transport (a la SC4). Not like BV or World Adventures (which are really about destinations not travel) but transport itself and travelling. This is something I'd like (because one of the things I really like doing in sim-management-type games is setting up infrastructure and running it) and I appreciate some people would find it boring - but it was my fantasy, right?

Anyway, I was thinking you could have everything from bikes to planes: bicycles, motorbikes, cars, buses, trams, railways, boats: sailing, rowing, barges, cruise liners, aircraft: dirigibles, balloons, light aircraft, airliners and so on (space rockets? camel train?). And then you could send your sims to use them. And then I thought, well, that might get a bit boring if you had to stay with them throughout the trip. Sure, travelling to work doesn't take long and sending them on a barge-canal holiday might be fun where they got off from time to time to do stuff but if you sent them off on a long trip, say, to get to their holiday destination, that might be dull - I mean, generally all you see from aircraft is sky.

So then, I thought what might be useful is a feature where you could leave the sims to get on with it with options to control how far they got and what they did in that time. For example, if you sent a sim family on a canal-barge holiday, you could travel with them for a bit and then leave them while you go and play another family. As you leave the family, though, you'd get an option to direct what is going to happen while you are away so you could, for instance, set the time for their 'story' to progress - say three days or five or ten and then set them goals that they might achieve in that time. This might mean that you could be playing another family and during the time with them see the original family floating past on their barge and even interact with them.

And then it struck me: this might be great for all sim families at all times: when you save and leave the lot, you could set the time that can pass before you come back to them and also set goals for the sims (get pregnant, work towards a promotion, gain skills, have an affair etc.). You could make it optional (so those who like the simulation to carry on at all times can ignore it) and also goals set should have a chance of failure. Memories would have to be a part of that so you could work out what went on when you got back. There should also be an option to not allow any progress at all.

I don't know if it would work but for someone like me it would give me control over my sims so that they don't develop without input from me and generally in a direction I want them to go but would also build in an element of chance (which is something I'd like). I'd be able to play families in rotation like I do with TS2 and create a sense of a community (something sadly lacking in TS3) but without shutting down development for all families at all times. Hmmmm. Maybe.

I no longer come over to MTS very often but if you would like to ask me a question then you can find me on tumblr or my own site tflc. TFLC has an archive of all my CC downloads.

Like Inhuman One said, I'd really like some jobs to be limited. I'd also like it if your sim actually had to apply to the job, with a chance of not getting it. I don't like how 2 has such limited jobs available per day, especially when you had all the expansion packs installed and your sim could be an old man before the job you want to give him would roll around, but also don't like how every place in town in 3 will hire any schmoe that comes in off the street.

It would be good if the requirement for a job would be a single skillpoint in the appropriate skill. Seems reasonable, right?

A single cooking point for a sim that wants to work in the kitchen makes sense, same for a sim joining the army having a body skill point to get past the tests.

I would not want a cook with a single skill point. That woud qualify them for boiling eggs and tea, wouldn't it?

I think the point was it was an entry-level qualification.

For washing dishes I think it would be better to have cleaning skill points rather than cooking.

Well, perhaps, but this is a career in catering no?

Well an accountant or a CEO can work in a catering business. For sims I assume catering means actually cooking. Most restaurants won't hire any cook that doesn't have at least some formal education in cooking and for sims I would guess that would be something like 5 cooking skill points.

Just got an idea, maybe we can get a sim that specialises in cakes and pastries and they get to decorate cakes.

A party/holiday/celebration EP. Expand the party ideas, make weddings more memorable, add baby showers, graduation parties, block parties.

- A pets/animal EP. I like the aspect of having a cat or dog or even a snake around the house. TS2's pet expansion pack was BORING. You couldn't even do much with your pets not to mention, they were limited on the kind of pets you have. They should add snakes, ants, spiders, birds, pigs. Add zoos, farms, aquariums; add pet shows, a pet park.
-New objects and interactions: hot tubs, pool tables, poker table, cards (kids too), spin the bottle, blender machine (sims get ‘Winded Down’ moodlet LOL), deep fryer (sims get ‘Finger Lickin’ Good!’ moodlet), magic tricks, juggling, family kiss, nursery rhymes, more instruments including microphone, piano, and keyboard, blog on computer, prank call, more electronics, Request Day Off From Work, gve gifts, table interactions, bring back the dating system and outings!

stuff/expansion pack that gives us the ability to make our own neighborhoods again. I'd like to make theamed neighborhoods again or just build my own neighborhood from scratch. Just feels like there's more control that way. Personal preference obviously.

also the sims 2 baby at least they could move- and clothes that you can change them into alos be able to create babies in CAS with all the nessasary cothing swim dipers and toddler swim wear

Social circles. And not the crappy ones introduced in University Life. I want there to be many different kinds of social circles, generated by interests, common interactions, shared traits, and so on. And I want those social circles to be able to have there own relationships and interactions with other social circles, as well as there own opportunities.

I would love a way to lock in one of the jobs in a career path without inadvertently gaining the requisite skills and friendships and advancing to the next level. It works for my way of playing and storytelling to use any number of the jobs described before a Sim reaches the top of his career. We'd have so much more variety if we could lock it!

Addicted to The Sims since 2000.

As someone who likes to build, stack-able staircases. Kind of like the spiral staircase stacks. In real life houses, you can put the stair that goes to the basement under the stair that goes to the 2nd story. It would save on precious square footage.

I'd like more hairstyles for Black people. My hair is natural and I don't like creating me with straight hair. You should also be able to tighten or loosen the curl and maybe in sections. Also, more braids, twists, afros, curls, textured buns/ponytails, etc.

Can they have facial piercings automatically too?

I would like to see more seamless emotion in the game: rather than a hug moving to a kiss in a robotic fashion, have the Sim blush and miss or something; or, depending on their traits, do something else. They need to keep the trait system as I think it feels a lot more realistic with the unique personalities, but this needs to be improved drastically. The current trait system makes Sims feel robotic in my opinion, but with some tweaking I think the traits could blend together and make each individual Sim drastically different, thus making playing the game much more interesting; e.g. An Evil Sim could battle against a Neurotic trait, desiring to upset Sims but at the same time fearing their reaction; or a Brave Sim with a Shy trait, where his boldness only appears in special situations.

the most obvious thing they can do to beef up gameplay is the idea of multitasking they alluded to in the survey.

being able to talk to your household members in new situations, like while say, both of you work out

or how about the option to IGNORE someone in a situation where they both automatically converse?

talking on the phone and cooking, holding a drink and dancing, the options can be limitless.

it amuses me that people think ea maxis developers are actually paying attention to these forums and give a fraction of a turd about our complaints

majority of those of which wont consider getting it regardless
