I hope this isn't Thread Necrology, but how about this for an idea? On the Aliens' home planet, it doesn't take two to tango - it takes three. The Birth Queens produce the ova, the Pollination Technicians fertilize them, and the Colony Drones actually carry the offspring to term (a la male seahorses). The Aliens started abducting and impregnating male Sims because they thought they were the equivalent of Colony Drones, and even after realizing that Sims have only two genders, they have continued the process because, from their point of view, it works.

A few Aliens (such as PT9) have "gone native" enough to experience two-gender reproduction (WooHoo!) and discovered that it's a lot more fun than the clinical process they were accustomed to. That doesn't mean they don't tinker with their offspring's genetics - they do, with the goal of producing a race of hybrids indistinguishable from Sims and able to blend in with them. (Jill Smith is the first complete success in this program.)
