Default WCIF free real estate mod
So you know how The Sims 3 and The Sims 4 have freerealestate cheats? Is there one for the The Sims 2 so that I can move a family into a more expensive house immediately? Thank you.

I use the mortgage shrub to make the lots for everyone and they have to pay back the loan.

Every day each 10,000 shrub cost 100 in interest payed that day until you pay the full 10,000 on selling it.

Just put how many you need on the lot and your good to go.

Or, if you don't want mortgages that they have to repay and just want folks to have a nice, free house, there's the familyfunds cheat. It's formatted like this: "familyfunds *name of household* *amount of money you want them to have on-hand*" with no quotes. Or, alternatively, instead of dictating an amount, you can have it add or subtract money to their funds on hand. Then you'd type "familyfunds smith +30000" to add 30,000 to the Smiths' current funds. Its only drawback is if you have more than one household with the same name. If that's the case, then you can only adjust the newest-formed household with that name with the cheat.

And there are other ways to add money with various modded objects (Like the "budget adjuster" that's part of the Insimenator, and the Sim Manipulator also has money functions, I believe, but to use those the Sims do have to be moved into a lot, in order to place the modded object. You can always temporarily move the household into an empty lot to adjust them using one of those.

There is no "free," there is only "motherlode."

I have never used motherlode. Too inexact. I want to give them the exact amount they need for the house, plus maybe 1000 left over. Motherlode is usually too much or too little.

You can't do motherlode from neighbourhood either.

No, you move them into an empty lot, motherlode them, move them into the desired house, and waste excess money on things like clutter and changes of clothes.

I've never used Family Funds, but that may do the trick more efficiently.

The familyfunds cheat is okay, but there always seems to be one family in the neighborhood that it won't work on for no apparent reason. The cheat will also likely become less useful after a couple of generations once you have more than one family with the same last name in your neighborhood.

I use the financial menu in the Manipulator to get rid of excess funds. Most of it works well except for the "hundreds" menu, which is almost impossible to set a specific number with.

If there is more than one household with the same name it goes to the one with... I want to say the highest instance number? Something like that anyway, the game gives it to only one of them and will do it every time.

I just motherload a ton of times. For example, your hospital lot crashes, it crashes again when you try to reload so you have to move them all out then back in, then because you forgot the stay all shrub you have to spend the next how many days refurnishing and decorating a hospital. Oh right, that's me! But there are times you might want or need a free house.

I've noticed it doesn't work if the family name is made of two separated words, but I could swear sometimes it works anyway...

It will work if you use quotation marks before and after the family name.

If I can't use the familyfunds cheat for whatever reason, then I use the "budget adjuster" that's part of the Insimenator. (I use the "object" edition.) With that, you can add or subtract an exact amount of money from the household, down to the single simoleon. It's the only thing I know of, outside of the familyfunds cheat, that will do that. Others will only add/subtract in increments of 100 at the smallest. I don't always need that level of exactitude, but usually I want one-step exactness so...Yeah, that bit of the Insimenator is essential for my gameplay. I use it all the time. In fact, in some households with some of the ways I play, the budget adjuster is one of those objects that gets shoved into the foundation space or under roofs, so it's always there.

for NIghtlife or later; the familyfunds cheat would work.
University or earlier; motherlode/kaching may need to be done.

or lots could be assigned within SimPE; FAMI resource. make sure that the lot is a livable type (residential, dorm, "sub-apartment"); value to put in would be the instance of a Lot Description resource.
though the money cheats would be safer than that.
