Nobody seems to actually use this thread anymore....I guess everyone quit building and decorating, but I'm enjoying it so here is my Houseboat update.

MurderPrincess - I'm happy that you're posting your builds as they are super inspirational to a newbie player like me. That houseboat, especially, is fabulous!

Gingerxyz - Great start on that classical home. Can't wait to see the rest of it. And by the way, I *loved* the pictures of your Strangetown in the landscaping thread.

Thank you! That world makes it so easy to take good pictures though. All I can take credit for is my choice of angles and timing. (And my Curious Labs renovation).

I've made some progress on that house since those pics. It looks nearly finished from the front now!

And I added the extension for the swimming pool!

(Downstairs floorplan shots)

I was really pleased with it (especially seeing as the roof required some OMSP trickery to make happen) and then playtesting revealed that the roof isn't weatherproof So I'm going to have to figure out a different approach to getting what I want there. Kinda been avoiding it tbh.

The avoidance did lead to this though!

(Floorplans!)

Of course, playtesting has revealed the presence of the stacked staircase bug in these ones! So I'm going to have to rebuild them again (Game crashed while I was building them and I had to start from scratch. And these are a modification of a single house I built a few months ago, which took two tries to get right (and which, strangely, did not suffer from the staircase bug) So this rebuild is basically going to be my fifth time building them!)

And I still haven't figured out what I want to do with the shell once it's functioning. Lots of different ideas, don't really know what to pursue.

I redecorated EA's build in Lucky Palms called The Lido.
I turned it into a 1 1/2 bath with an open air loft bedroom.
I raised the living area onto a platform and moved the kitchen to the front of the home.
I was trying for very Geek Chic decor. Here is my version.

This is another EA build from Lucky Palms that I have redone, sorry can't remember the name of the building.
Decorated to be extremely modern.

MP - It's too bad about the glass roof leaking because it looks fantastic. I hope you find a workaround for the weather problem. The whole place is coming together so well. And oh my, your Lucky Palms rebuilds look fabulous. Modern, but with a throwback art deco feel. You've got some totally gorgeous cc, by the way. Thanks for sharing the pix.

@pureheart
Thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you like my buildings/decorating. It is Gingerxyz's buildings roof that is leaking though....so yeah I hope they find a solution for that too.

MurderPrincess - Well, open my eyes! I must have needed more coffee before reading/posting yesterday.Sorry 'bout that.

Gingerxyz - That glass roof still looks awesome. And I do hope you find a solution to the weather problem.

Picked back up working on a High School I started a while back.
These large scale builds take forever to finish and decorate.

Exterior Front

1st Floor

2nd floor is far from finished and the 3rd isn't even started, but I will get there...

Ohh how I love when I am done with landscaping...
I find it to be the most difficult part of a build.

@gingerxyz Could you put down ceiling or floor tiles to close off the building and then drop glass floor rugs on top of it?

Hmm. I thought about that but the only thing I have along those lines are the ITF ones, and they'd be way too visible. Do you know of CC ones that wouldn't stick out as much?

I have some CC ones in my game that are seamless if I'm not mistaken. I'll fire up the game after work and let you know what they're called. :-)

edit: I can't seem to find the exact link for the ones I have, but this is a similar creation that looks about the same, and made by the same person. (The ones I have were, as far as I can tell, made by Inge and modified by Angela)

This is more or less the best I can do. Thank God modern architecture can be so simple.

A Baroque-like palace (I say that loosely, architectural history is not my expertise!) I have been building inspired heavily by a creation by Ruby's Home Design.

♫ Keeping this here until EA gives us a proper playable woodwind/brass instrument ♫
