Yes! Glad to see this contest has a few more days before it is packaged and closed!
I always liked this part of the contest ... kind of like the period after the holidays when you can sit back and enjoy all the pretties. The stress is gone, and everyone can relax ... perhaps slip in a WCIF or two (yeah, yeah ... I know this is the wrong thread, but sometimes, it's easier to do it within the contest thread while the pictures are still fresh and before a photo service plays tricks ... see Photo*ucket.) Hope those who couldn't quite make the deadline show us what they had. Then it's off to the next contest, whether you want to be a contestant, play-along, host, judge or observer.
Thanks to ALL free-site creators, admins and mods.
RIP Sunni ... truly a ray of light.

Thanks, Jo! I really want to see what @AndrewGloria has done for the Singles and I do hope @Modder - after some great entries, will post too, because I would really enjoy seeing it.

Round 4 Play-along - 57 Road to Nowhere - Singles
The Council allocated the old army barracks building at 57 Road to Nowhere to the Singles family and gave them (by my standards) a large budget to spend on it. The Veronaville company of Jones & Moltke undertook the conversion of the building for the family, working to Lola Curious's specifications. We decided to retain as much as possible of the original character of the building, which we actually find quite attractive, although I'm sure the military regarded it as purely functional when they originally built it. One feature I didn't like in the original building was that the dormer windows in the roof served no purpose. To give them a purpose I added a small attic in the roof-space. The windows now provide the natural lighting to the attic. The changes the roofline, but I think it actually makes it more interesting.
Even Lola and Chloe found the sheer size of the lot a bit daunting. How could they turn that vast amount of sand into a garden that their "dad" PT9 would be proud of? Erin came to their aid when Loki told her about the cheap security fencing that he and Circe had put round their new house in Cover Up Road. So the girls fenced in part of the lot and Lola and Chloe designed a garden to fill it. They made it as a desert garden with lots of cacti and other succulent plants. But of course they included a nice lawn too -- they wouldn't be PT9's children without a lawn! In the future they can extend their garden just by moving the boundary fence!
Required Pictures
Aerial View of Whole Lot
Plan - Foundation Level
If a house has a foundation, I always put a batbox there. This time I put t in before the Sims moved in, so there it is -- right in the middle of the foundation!
Ground Floor Plan
The layout here largely follows the Maxis original, changed only because the staircase has been moved to accommodate a new layout upstairs. The Maxis colour scheme has largely been retained on this floor. Both Lola and Chloe say that they find green a "restful" colour. The stairs now face you as you come in the "front" door. To your left is the dining room, accessible through double width archways. Behind the dining room is the long galley-style kitchen area, which may date from when the army used the building as part of the Strangetown Barracks. To the right of the "front" door is a large lounge area with a widescreen TV. The lounge and kitchen together form an open-plan area, which runs diagonally across the whole house. In the centre rear of the building is a bathroom, which now has two communal shower heads. The square room to the rear right is what they call their Activities Room, though "Creativity Room" might be a better description. It contains an electric guitar, an easel, a bookcase, a computer and several chairs.
First Floor Plan
The general layout of the four bedrooms on this floor is shamelessly copied from Muridae's makeover of 51 Road to Nowhere. Before I saw her/his post, I couldn't work out a way to get four rooms with double beds onto this floor. (Maybe I should have shown the plans to Andrew and asked him. He'd have known how to do it -- he knows everything! ) Again the Maxis green colour scheme has been largely retained in the bathrooms and passageway. The girls chose the colours for their own rooms. From left to right the bedrooms are: Kristen's, Erin's, Lola's and Chloe's. Only Lola chose green for her own room. In the passageway outside Lola's room you can see the ladder leading up to the attic.
Plan of Attic
This is the attic soon after the girls moved in, after we had slightly rearranged the furniture. This room is a sort of general purpose retreat where any of the girls can come if she finds communal life in the house below is getting a little hectic. There is a TV, a bookcase, a computer, a makeshift coffee table and a few chairs. There is also a spare single bed where a friend or relative cam sleep. As soon as they moved in, I sent Kristen up here to check that everything worked. Originally the computer was in the alcove in the rear left hand corner, but Kristen couldn't get at it there. So we moved it to its present position and put one of the chairs in the alcove. You can see the ladder leading up from the floor below in the rear right alcove. I see Kristen has left a book on the coffee table (it's really just an old cable drum) in the front right hand alcove. I think it must be her recipe book -- the last thing she was doing here was studying cooking.
Price of Lot
It cost them §115,300 to move in. The picture also shows the fire escape from the upstairs bathroom. I added a handrail to this as I think the girls deserve one, whatever the soldiers, for whom the building was originally constructed, had to put up with. Unfortunately I didn't notice that there were no handrails on the internal staircase. As this stands in the middle of an open plan area, it really needs them. It was well into the evening of their first day when I finally noticed this omission and added them. This cost an additional §96, which of course came out of the girls own funds. Perhaps I should reimburse them. (Andrew says it should come out of my funds. Perhaps that would teach me to pay more attention to what I'm doing.)

Additional Pictures
View from Rear of Property by Night
In some previous contests a rear view was a required picture, and I still think it best to let people see what the place looks like from the other side. A three quarters view lets you see two sides at once. And I always like to include a view of my houses after dark. This picture does all three at once! It was actually taken in the evening of the Singles' first day. Two of the Welcome Wagon guests (Cameron Mackintosh and Nervous Subject) are soaking in the hot tub, and Kristen (in the red one-piece swimsuit is coming out to join them. Once there she invited the third .Welcome Wagon visitor (Ajay Loner) to join them. She then spent much of the rest of the evening in that hot tub monopolising the company of their three male guests. Well, a girl's got to take her chances when she gets them!
One of the Upstairs Bathrooms
The rest of the pictures appear in more or less chronological order. The first thing that Kristen did was go and admire the new combined bath and shower. Meantime Lola sat down to study cooking, and Chloe and Erin got into a long conversation with each other in the front garden. Initially Chloe wanted to poke Erin, but I don't care for that sort of thing, so I suggested that she try chatting with her instead. They quickly discovered that they had a lot in common, and their friendship developed from there.
First Floor Passageway and Loft Ladder
Seeing that Kristen had already come up to the first floor, I asked her to go up to the attic to check that everything worked there. I was very relieved to her climbing that ladder: I had to use MoveObjects to place it, and wasn't sure if it would work there.
The Attic
As mentioned before, Kristen had to move the computer out of the narrow alcove to its present position opposite the bed before she could use. She tried everything else in the room and it all worked, Here she is watching sport on the little TV.
The Kitchen 1
Erin used the 'phone in the kitchen to ring her brother Loki to tell him that they had moved in, that they liked the house, and that, maybe somewhat to her surprise, she was starting to make friends with Chloe.
The Lounge
Lola took a recipe book from the lounge bookcase and started to read it almost as soon she arrived, so that she would know something about cooking before trying to entertain any guests. After a long chat in the garden, Chloe and Erin achieved much the same purpose by sitting down together in front of the widescreen television and watching The Yummy Channel. Kristen did her studying upstairs alone in the attic, first with the small TV, and then with her favourite recipe book.
The Activities Room
Soon after midday some neighbours arrived to welcome them to their new house. This is part of the Welcome Wagon initiative, which functions in Strangetown. They were Ajay Loner and Cameron Mackintosh from further along the road, and Nervous Subject, who had come down from his eyrie above the Beakers' new house in Cover Up Road. Here two of them, Cameron (playing the guitar) and Ajay, are in the Activities Room with Lola (back to camera) and Erin.
The Kitchen 2
In the event it was Kristen who came down from the attic to make a meal of lunch meat sandwiches for the guests.
The Dining Room
There are only 6 chairs round the dining room table, so, having served everyone else, Kristen quickly ate her own food in the lounge. Then she brought one of the chairs down from the attic so she could join the rest in the dining room. She is seated on her own on the left of the picture. Clockwise round the table are Lola Curious (back to camera), Cameron Mackintosh, Erin Beaker, Ajay Loner, Chloe Curious and Nervous Subject. Chloe is almost completely hidden behind Nervous's Mohican haircut.
Erin's Bedroom
Erin has chosen a Japanese style 4-poster bed. Her wallpaper features interesting but abstract patterns, and the room is lit by a modern BeamOLite Compacto wall light augmented by a traditional lamp on one of the bedside tables. But the strange fact is that Erin hasn't slept in her bed yet. If you're wondering why not, read on!
Chloe's Bedroom 1
Despite her liking for green, Chloe has gone for pink as the dominant colour in her bedroom. Of the 3 lamps that light up her room, two are pink and one is green. The green light shining on the pink wallpaper can produce an -- er -- "interesting" effect. Alone among the 4 girls, Chloe has chosen to put curtains at her windows. But Chloe's bedroom isn't just for sleeping in. She anticipates that some of the best moments of her life will happen in this bedroom and in that bed. Chloe's bedroom is designed for seduction! She has 3 of those pictures on her walls They cost §4,000 each!
Lola's Bedroom
Lola's bedroom is sensible and practical. She has a coffee machine in a corner alcove. Here she is setting her alarm so she won't sleep in for her new job. She has embarked on a medical career, but she plans to switch to politics at a later stage
Kristen's Bedroom
Red Light District? I had forgotten just how lurid the light from the Lunatech Light Disc can be. Kristen quite innocently chose these red and white wall lamps as sporty colours. Please be very careful, Kristen, if Chloe ever comes into your room when you're dressed in your undies. She may have difficulty controlling her urges!
Chloe's Bedroom 2
Another view of Chloe's bedroom. The biggest surprise playing this lot is the close friendship that is developing between Chloe Curious and Erin Beaker. Yes, I said "friendship". That's what Chloe says it is. She's explained to Erin that, "On the planet my people come from, it's quite normal for friends to strip to their underwear and get into bed together." If Erin spoke to Lola, then Lola might well tell her, "Don't believe everything my sister tells you." But Erin likes Chloe a lot and wants to please her. Earlier in the day Chloe went to 88 Road to Nowhere to buy some sexy underwear, which she's now wearing. She also bought undies for Erin which is only slightly more demure than her own. And now they were relaxing together on her bed in their new undies. A little later they both slipped under the covers and slept together -- still dressed like that. They didn't do anything naughty. They are after all, as Chloe says, "just" very good friends.
You don't think Chloe is taking advantage of Erin do you? I just have a slight fear that Chloe might go on to tell Erin that making out and woohoo are also quite normal ways for friends to bond on "her" planet.
The Garden
Chloe does seem to keep thinking of things that she and Erin can do together without many clothes on. Here, on the Tuesday morning, while Lola and Kristen are at work, they are playing together on the trampolines in the garden. Which usefully gave Erin the Body point she needs for her first promotion. Afterwards they swam together and had a little soak in the hot tub before Erin had to leave for work (in the Athletic career). All perfectly chaste and innocent. Chloe hasn't got a job. With her sister and her new friend both working, she really doesn't see the need.
I'm afraid that Erin has, completely unexpectedly, fallen for Chloe big time. And she may not be the only one: I think I may have fallen for Chloe too!
I hope it was worth waiting for!

Wow, great job @AndrewGloria ! I especially love the garden, and the trampolines are a great idea. The succulents are lovely! :lovestruc
I like the colours in the girls' rooms- and you have the kitchen arranged to that it is nice to work in. You'd get bonus points from me for making the roof space useable, good job!

Good job, @AndrewGloria I think it is an improvement as well and I agree with @simsample - I am just worried about the damage those boots may do to the trampoline I like the loft idea very much and the pool looks inviting to me (where I am, of course, in an African summer ).
Thanks for the pics - I hope you will have some peaceful times now

The trampolines are by NixNivis here at MTS and are the most popular way of keeping fit and gaining Body points amongst my Sims. At §95, they are substantially cheaper than Maxis exercise machines, they are more fun to use, they don't give you electric shocks, and they don't make you nearly so sweaty.
I can't take the credit for the layout of the kitchen. I changed the cheap electric cooker for a higher quality gas one, and added a fire alarm, Neder's device for setting the number of portions, an espresso machine, and that wall telephone that Erin used to ring her brother. Otherwise the design is just the way Maxis built it including the cheap green Krampft kitchen units. Like I said, I think the kitchen may date from when the house was part of the army barracks.

And those trampolines don't break all the time - they can even withstand Chloe's shoes - so a repairman does not have to be called all the time

Thanks again Jo for reopening this thread so I could post my late entry.
May I ask one more favour before you finally and permanently close the thread? Could you update the Play-along table? I think the only entries still to add are Justpetro's Round 3 entry, and my Round 3 and Round 4 entries. I hope the links help. Of course, if you have the time, any comments would be very much appreciated too.
And thanks for running the contest and putting up with us all!

Hi all! I know this thread is probably like dead at this point but I just wanted to thank all of you for making this contest possible! Jo, thanks so much for coming up with the idea and for telling me about it so I could join. Thanks to the judges for your honest feedback and for taking the time. And to the other contestants, thanks for being a part of the contest! This was my first time participating in a MTS contest and I know I wasn't super active in the thread or anything but I really did love seeing all what you guys created.

Yes, Jo, I think we are all done now. I had hoped that Modder might post a late entry, but I guess he/she must be too busy with real life issues. What made me so anxious to reopen the thread, was that I'd already started my post, and I had all my pictures attached to it. So many, many thanks for reopening just so I could post!!
On the general theme, I think it might be an idea if future contest threads were left open for about a fortnight after the winner is announced. Like gazania I enjoy the relaxed end-of-term atmosphere at this time, and some us can be a bit slow in getting our final thoughts gathered together. Thanks again!

The reason I shut it is Gina posted on 31 Aug and nobody posted for 2 days after that so I assumed people were done. I will ask next time.
Okay closing this now and thank you for another fun contest, loved the entries, the picture stories and all the drinks!
