What, like Q-Xpress? Why on earth would you want that? Way better to have actual control over what you download and where it goes, in my opinion.

Story books are full of fairy tales, of Kings and Queens, and the bluest skies.

For those of us that are tech challenged it would be helpful.

Or maybe just a complete "folder & file set up" would be better.
That way we could down load it and put it where it needs to go.
I don't fancy the idea of playing around in the program files,
The less room for error, the better.

I did the folder set up for TS2, labeled them accordingly (houses, objects, clothing separated by male and female). While that was time consuming, it did work nicely. Especially if you downloaded a corrupt file and it crashed your game, you could remove each folder and test to see where the error was. I will do the same for TS3 assuming there not better tools that become available. Good luck with whatever you chose!

crazzyferret: There are already instructions on the wiki on how to setup your game to accept custom packages. You only need to do this ONCE and thats it - so I really dont see whats so hard about it. Everything is there, in easy to follow steps.

haha I GOT IT!!! sorry about that, it seems ive suffered form information overload reading through all this stuff.

your right it's not that hard

1..Place "Resource.cfg file" in "root folder" C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.
2. make a folder named Mods open it,
3. make another folder named Packages open it and put
all Package Files in here... Done thats it.

package files will show up as normal..not as costom content.

That's what SHE said.
(HP, that is, when she wrote the instructions)

Is there a way to possibly organize the downloads in Sims 3 as we could in Sims 2 in various folders? Because I hate having EVERYTHING in one folder.

The resource.cfg provided on the wiki and the one with the helper monkey both support subfoldering.

If you use the Helper Monkey, it automatically creates subfolders.
