Default Placing a Residential object in Community lot
I downloaded a library set and wanted to make a library. But the item can not be placed in Community lots. I found a hack, but it is reversed for what I need http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=3542 . Is there a hack for the opposite (placing a Residential item in Community). I also found a tutorial in Insimenator for changing this, but thought I would ask for to see if there was a hack first before I go through with the tutorial.

Make the lot first as a residential lot and place all items you want that will go there then convert it to a community and place the rest of the items you want.

@marka93 I read on Insimenator that this is dangerous to do though.

I changed an object to be available on community lot. It was really easy. Just change "community sort" to 128.

If you don't use SimPE, I don't mind looking at it for you.
I have also changed lot zoning many times. I've never seen any issues with it.

You just got to make sure that there are no sims on the lot when you do it.

Oh, yes, definitely, this is done while building before you've moved in any sims.

Not at all dangerous when done in build mode on an unowned lot. Simply change the zoning on the empty lot, place the items and chance back the zoning. You have to save, exit to the hood and reload the lot to make each zoning change work.

Appreciate the advice. I'll keep the sims off until I change the zone. And @joandsarah77, I checked out your post about Careers and Businesses for Sims and it's very useful.
