Can anyone create a Mirror flooring?
I’m not sure if it’s possible, but can any one create a flooring that is completely reflective like a mirror, or is actually is a mirror? It would be the perfect object, or flooring to use in my chrome house idea and also to make a "super" reflective lake!

Well if any one has any idea how to create this please help, also if any one has or can please fell free to make it, just be sure to post a link!

Thanks in advanced for any info! :D

I know all there is to know involving that subject that is mentioned about me knowing it all!

It would be awsome if you could create a mirrored ceiling tile aswell... just a decorative thing that you could put above the beds for voyeristic pleasure sims.

Rgiles has once tried that...
But, he said he disliked the effect of it.

I would think that a mirror flooring would tend to eat up your PC resources.....

I can't believe a)someone managed this and b)I didn't know! I was struggling with reflective rugs for ages cos I wanted to use them as garden ponds. I was sort of getting there but instead of getting a proper reflection of what was above them, they made a kaleidoscope refection of whatever was in the other mirrors in the house, and if I had no other mirrors the rugs didn't reflect at all lol

I actually tried to contact Bitzybus to thank him/her but cannot find any way. The TSR artists are actually not easy to contact. I think they should have something you can click actually on the download page. I would be saying this over there, but they don't have a feedback forum you're allowed to start threads in.

Yeah... about that...
I see how you guys talk and talk about reflective mirrors, and I look back and I realize I DON'T HAVE ANY REFLECTIVE MIRRORS AT ALL.... except of course of the one in the "Create a Sim" room.
All the mirrors I have, decorative ones, bathroom mirrors and such, show no reflection at all and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to fix that?
I think The Sims 2 is, if not the best, a very very good game, so I thought ..."Isn't it weird that there's only one reflective mirror in the whole game?... If the Maxis people managed it to have an 100% reflective mirror in the "create a Sim" room... Why can't they also make 100% reflective mirrors for my actual game, this is my "Sim Life"?..."

I would appreciate some help, because I see so many Geniouses in here, making new careers, decensor patches, naked skins, cellars (Great idea, by the way), etc...

Thanks!

Phoslo, have you got the reflections turned on in your Games Options?

I have those floor mirrors.
I put *two* whole ones on a lot and four of the half ones and the lot was truly crawling!
I had a little shop display thing going on...It was a tiny little lot as well and my machine is usually fine.
I had to take them out...And I so liked them!

UPDATE Nov '11: Beacon Falls & Maple Valley are custom TS2 neighborhoods with storylines, add-on families & lots. The Beacon Falls Blog has separate business & vacation subhoods & Maple Valley's Blog has a separate university subhood. All have been fixed using Mootilda's HoodChecker.

I wish Maxis had made degrees on the reflectivity, so one can adjust it for their needs... Anyway, even it exists, it's gonna be like some "plague" monster that will definitely slow the game down for gemers like me... :D

If you place one of Rgiles' transparent floor tiles on bare terrain, it does sort of reflect the sky... Although, not too interesting.
Of course, if you place them on top of foundation, deck or on leveled floors, they'll be just transparent.

Transparent tile on the ground can mask the ground texture and show what's behind it. So, what's under the ground is actually the cyan sky as well...!

But,the idea that these tiles can reflect the sky is cool... Maybe, it does too, i'll have to look at it more carefully. Modded reflective tiles reflect not only the sky, but also the floors of upper levels... probably partially because the floor tiles are defaultly set to be bottomless.

seemingly, Teko's shiny floor is basically similar to BitzyBus's floor mirror, "rug"-based mirror.

Where to find those shiny tiles from Simbella?

Forwardmotionis,

Sorry I got carried away in the mind :P

Shiny tiles that are reflective but not mirrory can be done by modding the tile in the txmt file
stdMatEnvCubeMode = reflection
But, this's about modding rather than a build mode issue. So, may check out the modding forum.

The biggest problem of this type of tiles has already been mentioned in post 17 or Rgiles' transparent tile thread. So, quite unlikely someone would release some due to the effect is commonly regarded as "freaky" or "unwanted".
