Default How to get rid off MSUPdate71 malware
I got MSUPDATE71.EXE when i tried to patch the PC version of Halo 2(Which I was going to give to my dad as a father's day gift but it , but it seems the patch had this program in it. Malwaware bytes looked like it had it under control but it is locking me out of more and more parts of my computer and hijacking it and taking it to porn sites while messing with my internet history and the instructions I find online for manually removing this seem to be outdated and are not working, I am hoping someone here has run into this very destructive program and can help me get rid of it. I know this may be a strange place to ask but after five days I am at my whit's end and am asking everywhere where there may be someone who knows something.

Thank you for your time and trying to help me.

These are the instructions I have followed so far.

Am I just going to have to completely wipe my hard drive get a new copy of Windows 7 and start from scratch? Because if I do you may not hear from me for a while because I don't have the money for that right now and it will take a while.

Thanks again for your help and time.

My PC specs.
Windows 7 64 bit,AMD FX 4300 quad core processor, 8 gigs DDR3 ram, 1 gig Geforce 9500 graphics card, patch 1.67.2
Every time I reinstall the game I run it clean without any CC, not even the store bought stuff so it isn't CC or mods that cause me trouble.

If you followed the instructions and are still having problems I'm not sure what else you could do. You don't have to buy a new copy of windows if you have a retail copy of Windows 7. Just grab your CD-Key, format the hard drive and reinstall Windows using the same key.

I may have to give that a try, I am trying one last thing following the instructions that are posted here.

I have a retail copy but I had to reinstall back in December so I am not sure if Microsoft will let me do that again so soon. Still I have done some research and it looks like if this method doesn't work then wiping the hard drive will not work either so i will have to wait until I have the money for the a new hard drive and with the only jobs I get being odd jobs I do now and then that may be a while.

I really hate the type of punks who go around making programs for no other reason then to mess with other people's lives. If you ask me these things shouldn't even count as people and if caught they should be locked in a dark pit and never allowed to see the light of sun again.

What type of person makes it their mission in life to hijack update files just so they can mess with other people's lives?

December is fine. Worst comes to worst they may ask you to call them / activate over phone. Basically they do that to make sure it's not a bot or a hack.

Well the good news is that following that last set of tips seems to have done the trick and my computer is working normally again, it took long enough.

If I ever find the guy who made that virus in the first place, he is dead.
