I've been having problems for almost a year. I have uninstalled the games over 10 times and still no change.
My sims launches and then it crashes, sometimes rebooting my own computer. I had issues with the graphics card and today I just changed it hoping it will solve the issue but nothing happens.
I've chatted with EA support numerous times and nothing.

I don't know what's wrong or why it's acting up. I'm seriously just about to give up and forget about all of these games.

First: are we talking about this super patch released by EA http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-3-super-patcher/ ?

is your pc crashing / rebooting occassionally or only when you try to launch sims 3? if it only happens with sims 3 then follow the steps from the crashing list and see if that helps

sounds maybe stupid but after you installed the superpatch did you verify that mods and other cc is compatible with that new patch?
