Default Sims 2 content "worse than Hot Coffee"
Miami attorney Jack Thompson claims cheat codes make EA's life sim a pedophile's paradise by showing genitalia; calls for ban on T-rated game.

This is just plain stupid! Interesting, but stupid.

Wtf. I understand why GTA would kinda influence the crime, (because it has stuff like that withought cheat codes in the game), but it is our choice if we want nudity in our games, the nudity is custom content, the game doesn't come with it!

Default ?
Oh my goodness, that is ridiculous. If kids are looking up the cheat codes to unlock the nudity, their parents should be mad at themselves for not monitoring them better (no offense to any parents). Why is this jerk attacking games?

But if my parents see anything about that article, I may be banned from The Sims. :fight:

OMG. I swear, I told my bf a day ago that this could happen. When they bashed San Andreas, I knew they would do this.

Geez, this guy has too much time on his hands. May I ask why a pedophile would even care to look at a computer mannequin of a child? What would
Let me quote Thompson himself, "'This is no different than what is in San Andreas, although worse.'" Worse? I have San Andreas (without that hack) and, in my opinion, Sims 2 is much more tamer than that game. Really much tamer. Shooting people for their cars or blurred woohoo in a hot tub, hmmmm. Which is worse? Honestly, what is wrong with the blur?

Also, Maxis can't be blamed for user content. They do their part by making all warranties void on hacked games. What else could they do? Sure, they could monitor every site (which usually block adult content from kids, anyway), but that would be pointless and expensive.

This guy is a video game hater. Period. Watch, he'll go after stuff like Harvest Moon next, citing its "alcohol use." I hope this guy loses, seeing that this is an absolutely ridiculous poke at the gaming industry.

The man obviously has no life.

And nobody's forcing him to play the games, either.

I saw that as well... and thought it quite foolish. That game is perfectly mild!

Some people, clearly have no life... me, for one, but I'm not critiquing The Sims 2!

GTA, which I own San Andreas... that's violent. Very much so, actually.

Well, the Hot Coffee mod, if you haven't heard about it, a simply terrible minigame involving sex but no (from what I heard) genetalia. However, it is rather graphic.

The sims 2, as it is is simply teen material. How else are you going to realistically make babies? But the game automatically blurs any instance of nudity, and the woohoo cut scenes are simply comical, for fun.

Gaah, it angers me so.

well gta sa has the "hot coffee" thing imbedded into the game. Whether or not r* meant for it to be unlockable or if it was a scrapped idea, i don't know, but the Sims is just a querky take on real life. For christ sake, they even took out the keg and replaced it with a giant happy friggin pinapple. This man is stupid.

Okay yeah I'll sit back for his attack on GTA, i hate that game, and realy those sceens shouldn't have been in there if they were going for a mature rating...i've seen them, it's a little sexual minigame like thing, hard core, virtual, badly animated, sex sceens and a bj one.

But now the man is after my SIMS!!!! THE SIMS!!!!! I WAnt the beat the man in the head!
This freakin guy is on a crusade that video games are responsible for the vilence in the world! OH No GTA caused a 18yr old to shoot three cops! Bull, They were shooting cops before that game ever existed. Go on a crusade for parents not handleing their responsibility. If a badly animated game can blur reality to your kids they need serious help.
In a manifesto sent today to press outlets, Thompson focuses on dismantling the Entertainment Software Ratings Board and exposing what he calls the industry's "latest dirty little secret." The secret's out now, and it involves nude sims.

In the statement, Thompson says, "Sims 2, the latest version of the Sims video game franchise ... contains, according to video game news sites, full frontal nudity, including nipples, penises, labia, and pubic hair."
If this man is seeing these things on sims straight out of the box, he is mentaly disturbed, and he is a pervert himself, because he put it there!!

It's not just the adults that are liberated from their wardrobes. Sims kids can also be nudified, "much to the delight, one can be sure, of pedophiles around the globe who can rehearse, in virtual reality, for their abuse."

Where does this man get off, he has obviously never invested in a copy of the game and is instead getting his information elsewhere. HOW DARE HE! HOW DARE HE NOT EVEN BOTHER GETTING FACTS STRAIGHT!! HOW DARE HE NOT EVEN TRY AND TALK TO PARENTS WHO PLAY THEMSELVES!!

Oh no, Lets not attack porn on cable television at 10:00pm or the sex sceens in movies or tv shows that all little kids can see, regardless of the fact that they should have a bed time. NO Don't go after Walmart for selling guns in a family orriented store and clothes that no small child should ever where( they look like mini porn stars)! NO Lets go after a life simulation! Who are virtual Barbies!!! OH NO! You can see Barbie without Clothes if you use this programers code!! And Little Kelly TOO!! OMG My Kids are all going to run out and have sex after that!!!

No take the game that shows what can happen when you "woo hoo" you get a baby that you have to constantly take care of, the game who's freelance moders have created a hack that can have teenage parents that then have to drop out of school to take care of the baby. And you know what, taking care of that little brat is hard!!

But No, forget that you can actualy LEARN something! This game is the embodiment of pure evil!! You Can see a Virtual Recreation of Barbie and Ken NAKED!! OMFG!!....

I"m so incredibly pissed i'm actualy shaking...

I had to say this...I had to.

"Miami attorney Jack Thompson claims cheat codes make EA's life sim a pedophile's paradise by showing genitalia..."

I fail to see a problem here. Obviously, all pedophiles should be given a computer (if they do not have one) and a copy of the game. Then EA Games/Maxis should be heralded the world over for keeping safe forever-more our children because the pedofile's wants would be fulfilled with simulated mannequins.

Bullcrap. The lot of it. As for GTA: San Andreas, this only concerns the PC version, correct? The console versions should remain unaffected (but under attack) and I don't see a generation of teens going out to buy the PC game (and a computer and internet access, if necessary) just to download a mod.

Only in America. How about focusing on universal healthcare or under-funded public education?

For a second there I was thinking, 'What's wrong with having hot coffee? Isn't it supposed to be hot?' Then I read a bit further down and realised that it isn't COFFEE COFFEE. Wow, I'm a bit slow. And I'm pretty sure television is worse than The Sims 2, anyday.

Erg! it's not the downloader's fault! It's the skin creator's fault! They make it so that mere children can see how the sim's Breasts will look! It's not their fault! Crap! Now I'm reapeating! San Andreas is horrible, cursing and violence and car...anyways, it's crazy, and nothing like Hot Coffee. They need to let it go. Boy if they could see the simming protesters....ooh! I*'m so mad now! This guy got too many hacks for his computer, he should know that NOT ALL SIMMERS DO HACKS BEACAUSE THEY DON'T WANT A JACKED-UP COMPUTER! God! No offence to you great skin makers like simply stella, but that sweaty-looking body one is a good skin but it shows the women's naked breasts and nipples themslves! So, no, this shouldn't be compared, and the most violence is teen sims fighting and criminals....fess, up, these things are what happens most of the time in life, if you don't like life, tough nuts 2 ya!

Pedophiles aren't playing the Sims, they're using their computers to download porn.

The man is making a fuss about rendered genitalia. Think about that for a moment. (The fuss, not the genitals!)

I live in Australia, and the game is M15+ here, so it's a little less relevant as far as the T rating, but I don't really understand why he'd want to ban the game. I've seen more suggestive things on TV (case in point: Big Brother, which shows Uncut, wth full frontal nudity, at 9:30pm), and it shouldn't be EA's responsibility to keep teens from downloading realistic skins, which Mr. Thompson seems to take issue with.

I totally agree with EA. I mean, for real, I've actually seen the sims plenty of times in the Sims 1 and 2 without the blur (not my doing, actually...lol) but they're totally right. There's NOTHING showing there. It looks just like Ken and Barbie. The dude says that THAT is even not right for TEENS, yet, kids are playing with Barbie and Ken...c'mon! He's a stupid idiot. Probably very old and wishes for World Peace like Ms. America. He probably loves rainbows and lollipops. *rolls eyes* People like that bug me...bad.

Actually, I support him most of the time. With TS2, I don't. I sent him a friendly email expressing my views. Last thing he needs is another person bashing his views. To each his own and it's nice to see someone standing up and fighting for what they strongly believe in.

I would take this a bit more seriously if there were any realistic nudity in the game in the first place (without custom nude skins). Even with the blur patch, the sims only look like nude Barbie dolls, with which kids have been playing for decades.

He's trying to make a political career for himself. You need to have something to point to and say, "I did this!" if you want to start a good one easily. He's counting on the fact that what he is saying is more entertaining than the truth so it will be more widely talked about. He's also going with the odds that most of the people who playthis aren't voters. They're underaged or very young and young people generally don't vote. He's aiming himself at the parents and the conservative older people who are looking for anything to blame for society's breakdown. No amount of reason factors in here. It's all about the public image.

Is spying really as bad as it sounds? C'mon. They're in your thoughts. You're in their bushes. It evens out.

And all in favour of labelling Barbie (tm) as adults only because her clothes can be removed?

This is clearly a case of someone making a stink over something he has very little practical experience of. The effort people have to go to in order to get even loosely realistic naked sims is well outside the realm of EA's responsibility.

What should EA do then? Have a big hole you can see right through? Come on!

I hope that you are happy with what you've done.
