Instead of making a world from scratch (since I'm not very skilled in making them) I decided I would just edit one of the EA pre-made ones. Is there anyway that I can replace one terrain plant (like the grass in Sunset Valley) for another (maybe dirt or sand or whatever) without having to go in and paint over every inch of land?


Edit: I've done it before so I know it is possible but when it happened it was by accident and now I can't remember how I did it

Right click on the terrain paint in CAW, and select Edit. That will replace that whole layer with the next texture you choose. It will distort your blending, though, so it's not a perfect process.
