Default Flashy Blinky Things in SimPE
I was wondering if anyone knew how the lights blinked in the sims (from a modder's perspective obviously, what code makes it happen?). it is apparently a change in texture but I can't find anything in the code for it. Some objects that have the red blinky light are the Cheap TV and the clothing booth with the security camera on top. Please Help, Thanks.

Well there's the info on how to change between materials here:

But I think what you actually want is animated textures... I don't know if there's at thread for it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a modification to the TXTRs (Material Definitions). I believe they treat the texture as a sprite if they are set correctly... Try downloading some of the animated items in Beta Testing and look at their values.

Thanks Echo, But the thread you pointed to talks about changing between Meshes, like the snowman apparently does (I don't have the snowman). By, the way, the textures I see in the files with the flashing light look like straight rows of diffrent color.

That is an animated texture?

Ah, well in that case I gave you the wrong thread, but given that image then the second half of my post is definately the part you should be reading. The fields you have to change are in the Material Definitions, and they treat the texture like a sprite based on the size of the frames you specify in the Material Definitions.
