Default Donation Drive and Ad Status
Hi All,

You might have noticed in the past day or so the google ads have only been returning Public Service Announcements. This is becuase Google decided to close my Adsense account. I am, of course, appealing that decision but this means that the entire monthly ad revenue for this month is lost!.

MTS2 has seen explosive growth over the last year and a half to 2 years, and with every new download and creator comes ever more amazing things that people have managed to achieve with the game. I am proud to be part of this site, but bandwidth and servers don't come cheap.

This site, as you know, survives purely on Ad Revenue and PayPal donations and costs approximately $1900 a month to run. This is, as you can imagine, quite a lot of money, and we rely on the generosity of donations and the ads to keep the site alive.

With the loss of one of the revenue streams, however, complete with the loss of the entire months worth of ad money, this leaves me in the unfortunate position of having to ask for a donation drive to make up the shortfall. Don't worry - the server bills are paid for this month, but I like to keep the site finances in the black as much as possible.

So please donate if you can, or buy a sticker, or buy advertising space. Everything is appreciated, and you can help to keep MTS2 the best Sims 2 site on the net!

Regards,
Delphy

Thanks for all you do for this site to keep it the best place for modding info, tutorials and downloads. Count me in. Is there a goal amount or date to raise it by?

Yes, Google are well known for doing that. They will shut you down without a second thought if you *could* be carrying out clickfraud.

They don't check into it. They don't explain it. They don't give you any appeal process. They just shut you down. The purpose of adsense is to make Google money from charging advertisers to show ads for them.

As soon as they start actually having to pay sites that display the ads for Google, they will figure out a way to kill the account. After all there's millions of websites out there.

Is there a way to turn off all the requests for money if you've already donated? I can't afford to donate more.

BlueSoup, I could probably add an "ads-free" option for MTS2 supporter subscribers, yes.

That's really sad news! Why don't you start up a donation section? I usually avoid paysites because Paypal just doesn't do business in Romania and seeing all that awsome content makes me wish I owned Paypal , but I think that offering some of the items for donations is a very good long term solution to this sort of problems.

Everytime I log in I see that there are at least 2k viewing the site. If everyone gave even a dollar each month it would go a long way. I am a monthly supporter but in this time of need I definitely will give more.

Well, I would personally love an ads free option if i were to donate.Often, the ads spefific to my account were of lingerie and swimwear because of my amount of uploads spefic to that, and they can be pestering. Also, I was on lyriclee's page and one ad let to several pornographic links. I think this would be a great time to review the advertising system, it could be a blessing in disguise really.

Paysite- Well, donations should come with more rewards. Delphy, you could recruit the top modders and creators to make a donation area rewards system, with very spefific rules as to the redistrubtion of the purchased item.I felt some of my uploads should be paid for ,not to be arrogant

Or of course we could pay 2,000 dollars and have an administrator come to our house and be our personal assistant -Just kidding.

Please say thank you if you like my work and also,Please read my Terms of use -Thank you and enjoy my work!

I may not be an admin... but OK! =P

Hmm. Time to see if I can squeeze more money out of le carte credit-less.... there must be something in the store I can convince myself to be desperate for - "But it'll go with the mousemat!!"

As Numenor says Delphy, you'll have to make all these services sign a contract saying that they'll only steal your money when you have none in the first place...

I desperately want to donate to this site is there another way to donate other than paypal? If so more could make donation such as MoneyGram or Western Union...Then I could donate every two weeks which would be so awesome...I love this site dearly and visit it everyday. Give those without Credit Cards a way to help...I also don't want to go through PayPal. I will try to do something though...Love this site!!

sansudav, Of course, nobody could pay for MTS2, in which case I'd shut the site down. It has never been a requirement for you to pay to access anything on the site - people donate out of thier own goodwill.

I don't want to appear to be unsympathetic and I hope that you will understand my thoughts but for those who do donate... this is not a free site. If there was an annual minimal membership fee that everyone paid (like hedesrochers above mentioned which equates to an annual $12.00 fee or a possible lesser fee) then maybe their would not be this problem. Call me selfish if you want to but why should we pay (making it not free for us) to keep the site free for all those who don't pay? I am being sincere when I ask this question.

I'd rather it be a free site which accepts donations from those who can donate. Why? Because there are many people who have no effective way to donate, they're either in countries which don't have good ways to make internet payments, or, they are kids with no money. Think of MTS2 donations as a 'charitable donation' - good the the soul.

If the averages end up being too many downloaders and not enough donations to support the infrastructure, then Delphy may be forced to charge a membership fee.

Count me in, Delphy. And um...I don't really care about seeing the ads or not. That's not what's important here. What's important here is to pull together and help in anyway we can to support this site. I'm already a subscriber but will do anything I can to help.

Not in all countries the credit card way is secure, in the mine a lot of hackers can steal the credit cards numbers and money there are. I haven't access to credit card, and how me a lot of people, I think, but I want help, and for all people that want help and can't access or have a credit card, must be another way to donate, I hope that this can be possible, I can donate and I want to do it, but sure that a lot of people have the same problem.

This site can be support for all if everybody want, but I think that never can be a obligation. I say this because I hate the paypal sites. But this page I like, and with one option all people can joined.

Wow, I didn't know Google makes such strange things... I also didn't know that MTS2 costs per month are so big.

About the ads - I hope this only means banners, not pop-ups, pop-unders, and so on. I know some sites that are quite impossible to browse because of ads (and even installs spyware, this is definitely not right).

Anyway, it's urgent that MTS2 stays on-line, and I know it will. We love you too much

I Love this site! And will definitely make a donation.Being a monthly supporter, I don't care either way about the ads. They don't bother me. Actually sometimes they can be helpful if I'm looking for something outside of the Sims2. (rarely but sometimes..lol) I am totally addicted to making recolors for the game, and I really appreciate that MTS2 gives me a place to share those creations.

* If you download my sets please note that I usually include a collection file. Please do not pm me that you can not find something from my sets if you have not yet installed the collection file. I do it for a reason. Thanks!
