‘They start younger and younger these days, huh?’
‘Not that young, I hope.’

They also got sloshed drunk at their father's funeral, when they were 11.

‘Oh hi, Ellis. What can I do for you?’
‘Dad isn’t home yet, right?’
‘No, he’s still at work.’
‘Good. Because I really need to talk to you properly. Can we go somewhere quiet, away from the kids?’
‘Sure… They’re playing upstairs. We can go in the kitchen.’
‘You must promise you won’t repeat this to Dad. Okay?’
‘Is it that bad?’
‘Yes, it is.’
‘I don’t know if I should make promises like that. I want to be honest with him…’
‘What, as honest as he is with you? I’m sorry, I really want to handle this with sensitivity, but you can’t deny that he’s deceived you.’
‘I’m well aware of that. I’d just rather be better than that.’
‘He has lied to you from the day he met you. You came to our house pregnant, clearly with no idea we existed! Sorry, but you know that’s true. You were just as shocked to see us as we were you. And I don’t hold it against you at all, but I do hold it against him.’
‘That was eight years ago, Ellis. I’ve moved on. I’m committed to being a wife and a mother. I can’t hold grudges.’
‘From that stunt he pulled with the triplets, it’s still happening. Roxxi, the most generous way I can describe him is as a sexist piece of trash.’
‘What’s your point? You want to get me to leave, like Aria did? I didn’t then, and I won’t now. I can’t, alright?’
‘What Aria told you isn’t a lie. Nor did she misinterpret anything. Because I was there too, and I heard everything. I’m backing up what she said 100%.’
‘…What?’
‘Aria was telling you the truth. I can’t do any more than agree with her, and I should have done that months ago. I’m doing it now because I can’t live with myself, and because you deserve better than this.’
‘You’re saying he…’
‘…Killed my mum? Yeah.’
‘No, I can’t… That can’t be right…’
‘Like I said, don’t repeat any of this to him. It’s not safe. If you choose to leave, our door is open at any time. If you choose to stay… well, it still is. We’ll always support you.’
‘…I’m sorry, I…’
‘I’m not asking you to make a decision right now. I just had to do the right thing. Protecting everyone is hard… It’s a bit of a balancing act. God knows I don’t want to set him off again. But I’ve been cowardly here.’
‘You’re not… Oh God, you’re not.’
‘Do you believe me?’
‘I don’t know… but look, presuming this is true… Aren’t I in the same danger, if I make that choice? That just cements that I can’t leave.’
‘No, because we’d help! We’d find a way out for you!’
‘You think I can manage as a single parent of triplets? I can’t take any money from you, and if I went, there’s no way my parents would be on my side. I’d never afford it, for one thing… I’ve got no skills, no future, nowhere would hire me. I’m not capable of it. No court in the world would side with me.’
‘Who cares about doing things legally? That’s out of the question. I'm talking about running away.’
‘You know that couldn't work… And speaking of legally, how did the police not notice anything wrong? With your mother…? Is the mind control stuff really true?’
‘Yeah, it is. It’s not like any of us wanted to cover it up, but… Dad made it clear that we couldn’t tell the truth. Fuck, we were just kids. Even me. I wasn’t even eighteen… I didn’t know what to do. So I did nothing, and now that’s a bridge I can’t cross, legally. So yeah, I was a coward.’
‘Ellis, sweetie, I’m not even half as brave as you are. I always thought you’d managed really well. You were so kind to your sisters, and the way you looked after Charon, too… At least you went and got a real job. I made all the wrong choices… I’m saying, I’m not half as mature or responsible as you are. So I don’t think I can manage on my own.’
‘I think you could do a lot more than you’re giving yourself credit for.’
‘There’s no good solution to this. Any way I go will end badly. Either I try to leave and get killed, or I divorce him and lose, or I go on the run as some kind of outlaw.’
‘Why don’t you take some time to consider your options? I mean… how does he treat the kids?’
‘He’s still kind with them… Ellis, I swear, I might be useless, but if I thought he was mistreating them, I really would go, okay? I can put up with anything he might do to me, but them…’
‘Does that include emotional abuse? Because he wasn't violent to any of us. It's everything else that was the problem.’
‘Of course it does…’
‘I guess they do still seem enamoured with him. So he doesn't belittle them, get angry...?’
‘No, I've never seen that happen. He's never been angry with them. Obviously I'm not around 100% of the time, but they all seem to trust him fine. And he doesn't have them on his own that often anyway.’
‘Right… You come to us if you suspect anything, okay?’
‘Yeah, I will. I’ll stay on alert. I know this isn’t the answer you want, but…’
‘It’s fine. I know what’s at stake. Believe me… I really get it.’
‘Thank you, sweetheart. You’re such a lovely person.’
‘You are, too. Too good for this. But then we all were, huh?’
‘Yeah… I think so.’
‘Ellis? What are you doing here?’
‘Oh, Dad… I, um, actually came to talk to you…’
‘Okay? What is it?’
‘…I know you’re racist, and I can’t change that. I don’t intend to expose Charon to it. So… don’t instil anything like that in the triplets. Keep your stupid opinions to yourself. They already know bigotry is bullshit, so don’t go indoctrinating them or turning them against their own nephew.’
‘I beg your pardon? Who are you tell me what I can and can’t say-’
‘Oh, don’t worry, Ellis. I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen. I don’t like bigotry, either.’
‘Thanks. That’s all I needed to hear. I’d better get going, then…’
‘See you later.’
‘….Do you mind telling me what all that was about?’
‘I think your prejudice against aliens is wrong, and I don’t want the kids picking up on it.’
‘Prejudice? Well, I’m very sorry for disliking the fact that they implant foetuses in men without their consent.’
‘Has Charon done that to anyone?’
‘Well no, but give it time. And just what the hell were you doing hugging him?’
‘Ellis and I are on good terms. I don’t see anything wrong with a hug. And don’t change the subject… Sorry, but I won’t back down on this. I’m your wife. We’re a partnership. You know I’m dedicated to you, so please give my decisions some weight. The kids will make up their own minds without you needing to convince them one way or the other.’
‘Roxxi… I feel like I’m losing you. What can I do? I hate arguing with you.’
‘Treat me with more respect, please. Treat everyone with more respect. I’ll definitely be more attracted to you if you do.’
‘…Okay. I won’t say any more anti-alien things in front of the triplets.’
‘Thank you.’
‘You really do mean a lot to me, you know. Because you’re right, we are a partnership. I suppose you have to compromise sometimes in a marriage.’
‘Yeah… Thanks.’
‘Do you think we could spend the rest of the evening together, once the kids have gone to bed? Get an early night, perhaps?’
‘Sure.’

"...smile, and smile, and be a villain". No, on second thoughts, don't smile. Tate, please don't smile!

It was a good chapter, Nat :D
I enjoyed reading the little chat between Ellis and Roxxi ^^
And of course Tate manipulate his way out -_-'
Oh well, knowing what'll happen later still make it enjoyable, and funny in a way XD

Unfortunately, we might be seeing a bit more of Tate smiling, because things are sadly going his way right now.

Thanks Roxxi's going to make the most out of their current situation while she's still stuck in it. She knows what gets him on side.
I'm skipping ahead in the next update, luckily, so we'll see some more progression soon. Have a random outtake from around Sunset Valley:

Hey, so, how many of us have heard about the ban on NSFW content on Tumblr? 'Cause, uh, that's going to completely fuck Sims CC sites. Namely, bye bye Sssvitlans.
This is the big wet fart Tumblr laid out about banning NSFW content on the 17th of December, andddd in response, Sssvitlans has made this post. I shoved it through Google translate, and well, it ain't good.
"Thanks Tumblr - I am now free from this heavy load - the Lana CC Finds blog. Since December 17, 2018, my blog will no longer exist anyway. The fact is that the blog Lana CC Finds since August 2017 has been marked as “for adults” (NSFW). I wrote Tumblr support requests to review and remove this status of the NSFW blog. It has been 1, 5 years, but nothing has changed.
Thanks to all my followers and those who have been with me for all these almost 5 years. We were very, very much, even more people came to the blog to view the SS for all Sims 2, 3 and 4 games.
And this is the statistics of the tumblr.com"
So hurry up and download anything you haven't yet got if it's from Sssvitlans, or a NSFW Tumblr account.

I hope Tumblr reverses this BS decision soon.
Another two years had passed relatively quietly.
There was success for Edward as he managed to stay sober. After a time, he was even able to get a job at Sunset Valley High as its guidance counsellor.
Aria too had career success. She undertook training to become a security guard at Stanley’s store.
Saraya’s confidence grew with her new friends.
The triplets and Charon remained utterly unfazed by anti-alien sentiment and were as close as ever. But neither Roxxi nor Ellis changed much, not yet ready to make serious changes in their lives.
On the whole, you could presume things were well.
Things never stay that way.
‘I’m home!’
‘Hey. How did it go?’
‘They’ve chosen me! I’ve been officially selected as the next mayoral candidate!’
‘Oh my God! Tate, that’s wonderful!’
‘Thank you!’
‘Congratulations. That’ll be really big if you win.’
‘Absolutely. And I think I have a great chance. All of the usual people are up for backing me, and I shouldn’t have much trouble finding more.’
‘Wow… I never thought I might end up a mayor’s wife.’
‘It’ll be fantastic for the kids, too. It’ll really work out in their favour. It’ll get them more opportunities.’
‘You’re right. Oh, I really hope this works out.’
‘I’ll certainly do my best. I can’t wait to tell everyone.’
‘They’ll be really proud of you. My parents are gonna be so pleased.’
‘We’ll have to get together soon and celebrate.’
‘I’ll call them and give them the good news in a bit.’
‘Thank you. Where are the kids? I’d like to tell them, too.’
‘They’re out with the others. They shouldn’t be long, now.’
‘Okay, good.’
A little while later…
‘Hey, Roxxi.’
‘Hi. Did you have a good time?’
‘Yeah, we did.’
‘I got the top high score on one of the arcade games!’
‘Oh, wow. Well done, honey!’
‘Ah, there you all are. I’ve got some good news for you. You know there’s going to be an election in a few months?’
‘Yeah?’
‘Well, I’ve been picked to be a candidate to run for mayor!’
‘…’
‘Father, that’s brilliant!’
‘So you might be the next mayor?! Wow!’
‘That’s so cool!’
‘…Congrats.’
‘Thank you!’
‘I’d better get back, anyway. See you all later.’
‘Y’know, Raya… Lately I’ve been thinking about the past.’
‘What about?’
‘All the stuff that happened in Bridgeport, everything with Tate and Olivia and the money. How we ended up here in the first place. Sometimes I still wonder about the full story. We have the gist of what happened, but the story is still full of gaps, don’t you think?’
‘I guess so…’
‘I know Edward told us everything he knew. Not like I’d go bothering him about it again, not now he’s coping much better. For one thing, how was Miles able to trap them both like that? How did he break into Edward’s place and our places and set up some kind of complex video feed? And just how was he able to overcome Olivia? She might’ve been old, but she was still a vampire. How would a regular human force her to bankrupt herself?’
‘When you put it like that, it doesn’t make much sense.’
‘The whole thing is crazy. He just wreaked utter chaos then seemingly disappeared without a trace. I just don’t get how one man could do that to Tate and Olivia. They could’ve easily killed him.’
‘We’re never gonna find out.’
‘Yeah… It’s not like I’m gonna ask Tate about it. Doubt he’d say anything even if I did.’
‘I don’t suppose it really matters now. We haven’t seen Olivia in years. Where do you think she even is?’
‘Who knows? We don’t even know if she’s still in Sunset Valley. Damn it.’
‘Would you actually want to see her?’
‘Not really. I just want the truth. The mess they all created fucked up our lives. We didn’t deserve any of it. None of us. Especially Edward. Why did he have to suffer through all that?’
‘It was never about us. We were just caught in the crossfire.’
‘And how.’
‘But we should be trying to move on. That’s why we went to counselling.’
‘And I’ve come to terms with what happened. It just doesn’t stop me from wondering.’
‘Some things probably aren’t worth worrying about. I get it, I still have questions too. But you’ll never be happy if this is still on your mind.’
‘Raya, for me to ever be truly happy, Tate would have to drop dead first. He isn’t old or sick enough for that to be the case, unfortunately. So I don’t think you have to worry about my happiness.’
‘…I want you to be happy, though.’
‘Hey, I’m fine. Things are better than they ever have been! I’ve got a cool job, and I live with you guys. I’m not after much else.’
‘Good… Because the best thing we have is each other.’
‘Couldn’t agree more. We make a good team, all of us.’
‘Oh, boy… I’ve got some news.’
‘From the look on your face I’m assuming it’s not good news.’
‘No, not really.’
‘Go on, Ellis. Hit us with the not good news.’
‘…Tate’s going to be a mayoral candidate.’
‘…Really? What the hell?’
‘Oh God…’
‘Yeah… he told me himself.’
‘Don’t they have processes you have to go through to get selected? Did they really have no-one better?’
‘Maybe he bribed them.’
‘Probably. Ugh. I think it goes without saying that I’m voting against him.’
‘I would too, if I could…’
‘Damn, yeah, you won’t be old enough…’
‘My friends will be. I’ll tell them to make sure they vote. They’re not the type who’d vote for him, anyway.’
‘They’re not twats, so obviously not.’
‘We live in a swing area, so it could go either way. We can only do our part.’
‘Let’s hope it’s enough, because I do not want to live in a Sunset Valley run by Tate. I’ll fucking move.’
‘You’ll uproot your whole life?’
‘Honestly, I’m stubborn enough. Are you telling me you could cope with his smug fucking face being everywhere?’
‘It will be anyway. There’ll be even more campaign posters than when he ran for city council.’
‘Then I’ll draw moustaches on them all.’
‘Please don’t do anything to make me arrest you.’
‘Fine, if I must.’

Good chap, Nat ^^
Oh boy, we're getting near the "mayor Tate era" :o
And yeah, Aria got good questions about what happened at Bridgeport :o
Still, at leat, they got each other, despite the man's presence ^^

‘You’re dumping me? But… why?’
‘I just… I can’t be with you. Not any more.’
‘…Is this because I told you I’m bi?’
‘I’m sorry. But it just doesn’t do it for me. I don’t wanna have to compete with boys.’
‘But you wouldn’t be! I’m still monogamous! It’s not like I’d cheat on you or anything!’
‘But how would I know if I’m enough to satisfy you? You can’t deny other boys have things I don’t.’
‘That’d be the same with anyone! That’s like saying if someone likes blondes, they couldn’t ever be with a brunette because they’ll always be pining after a blonde!’
‘No, it’s not. It’s not the same thing. There’s a big difference between hair colour and whether you have a dick or not.’
‘…But I don’t need someone with a dick if I have you. I don’t want that, either.’
‘It’s already ruined, Heath. I’m sorry. But it’s put me off you. I won’t be able to get that out of my head.’
‘I can’t help who I am.’
‘I know. You should find someone who doesn’t mind.’
‘Yeah, and how likely is that?’
‘Find another bi person? I dunno. But you have to accept most normal people aren’t gonna be okay with it. I’m not being unreasonable here. Most girls don’t wanna imagine their guy fucking a dude.’
‘Stop imagining it, then. Stop fixating on the idea of me fucking a dude, when I’m still a virgin! You act like I’m constantly fantasising about other people, when all I said was that I’m attracted to men too.’
‘We’re done, Heath.’
‘…Yep, I got that much.’
‘Look, don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone else.’
‘Thanks, I guess.’
‘I’ve got to go.’
Later...
‘Hi, love. Oh, are you alright?’
‘Not really… Is Logan in?’
‘Yeah, he’s in his room. What’s the matter, honey?’
‘Oh, just a bad day… I got dumped.’
‘Aww. I’m really sorry to hear that. Go on upstairs, he’ll look after you.’
‘Thanks, Maria.’
*knock knock knock*
‘Come in.’
‘Oh, Heath! I thought you were spending the night with Lisa.’
‘She just dumped me.’
‘Oh man. Why?’
‘Because I’m bi.’
‘What the fuck? She really said that?’
‘Yeah. I told her the other day. She said then she was fine, but obviously not…’
‘Jeez, what the hell? That’s ridiculous.’
‘She said she doesn’t wanna compete with boys. She said other girls wouldn’t wanna think about me fucking a man.’
‘Then… don’t think about it?’
‘That’s what I said! She made me feel disgusting. Like there’s something wrong with me!’
‘Fuck that, man. There’s nothing wrong with you. Loads of people are bi. Loads of people wouldn’t care, either. I wouldn’t care if a girl was bi. Hell, it’d probably help…’
‘What do I do now?’
‘Try to forget about her. I know it sucks, but she’s obviously not the girl for you. You’ve got me to help you get through it.’
‘Thanks… Back to the drawing board, huh?’
‘It’s okay. Don’t take what she said to heart. She’s wrong. There’s a ton of people out there who won’t care.’
‘I told her I only want one person at a time. She wasn’t “competing” with anyone! I just wanted her!’
‘It’s because people get funny over men liking men. They think if a man wants a dick once, they’re obviously gay forever and could never be satisfied with a woman. They don’t get that it doesn’t work like that.’
‘People are so stupid.’
‘Tell me about it. I really wish people like us weren’t considered weird.’
‘For real… Why’s it got to be a gamble when you tell someone? Running the risk of people looking at you like you’ve got two heads because you’re different?’
‘Yeah. At least Saraya and Ivy don’t mind.’
‘I’m glad they were cool about it.’
‘…I wonder if they’d be cool about me. Because no offence, but it’s a bit of a different thing to sexuality.’
‘No, it’s fine. I know. It’s even less understood than being gay or bi. But… I think they’d be fine. I really don’t see a bigot in either of them, at all. Saraya’s got an alien nephew. She’s used to people being different.’
‘Yeah, you’re probably right… I do wanna tell 'em both.’
‘I’d be right behind you if you did.’
‘Thanks. I’m just nervous about the idea. I’ve never told anyone who didn’t know me before. It’ll come as a shock.’
‘Aye, it will. But those two are good people.’
‘Well, I'm not gonna rush anything yet. Gotta work up the courage.’
*knock knock*
‘Come in.’
‘Hello, boys. I just got you some sweets. I figured Heath could use some cheering up.’
‘Awww, thanks. You didn’t have to.’
‘I don’t want to see you sad, honey. And you’re practically one of the family. Bad girlfriends are temporary, but we’ll always be here for you.’
‘It’s true. I’m sure we couldn’t get rid of you even if we tried!’
‘You’re right, you couldn’t.’

Thanks One cool thing about redoing this is that I can show off Heath being close to Logan and his mum. I always envisioned her looking out for him.
A day late again, sorry. I've still been working on things, including taking pictures for Tate and Roxxi's first meeting and adding it as an actual scene to this post.
I'm going to take a week off next week from regular posts. I'd like to do something Christmas related, but one consequence of being out of time with it in either past or present updates is that I can't think of anything for it.
‘We’re so pleased for you, Tate.’
‘Thanks so much. I really have a lot of faith that I can win.’
‘Oh, I’m sure you will!’
‘I think you’ll make an excellent mayor.’
‘I’ll do my best!’
‘Mum, are you finished? Tristan and Zeus are arguing over the TV again.’
‘Oh, honestly… Yeah, I’m done. I’ll come over.’
‘Don’t be hard on them, dear. They’re just spirited children.’
‘I just don’t want them to cause trouble.’
‘Ah, but you and Brie used to bicker all the time! It’s what siblings do.’
‘He’s got a point.’
‘Hey, Auntie Brie! What happened to Jeremy?’
‘Oh, I don’t date him any more. I’m going out with Joe now.’
‘Ooh, okay. You have a lot of boyfriends, don’t you?’
‘Oh Jesus.’
‘Umm… Sometimes it takes a while before you find the right one!’
‘Let’s go sort out your brothers, huh?’
‘Okay!’
‘Yeah, I thought you’d leap at that. You wanna see me tell them off, don’t you?’
‘Maaaaaybe. Why are all of Brie’s boyfriends old men, anyway?’
‘I don’t know, sweetie, but I don’t think you should ask her.’
‘God, how embarrassing.’
‘Sorry about that... you know what kids are like.’
‘Are you okay, Joe…?’
‘Of course, my dear. Don’t worry about it! I’m going to step outside for a smoke, though.’
‘Alright.’
‘Then I’ll have dessert ready soon.’
‘Brianne. I’m sorry about Carmella. Should I have said something?’
‘No, she’s fine. Don’t worry.’
‘So… forgive the intrusive question, but what did happen with Jeremy?’
‘Oh, we just wanted different things, that’s all. Actually… he proposed to me.’
‘And you didn’t want to get married?’
‘Hell no. I’m twenty-three, Tate.’
‘I married Roxxi when she was nineteen.’
‘Yeah, you did… but that’s Roxxi, and I’m not her, much as Mum and Dad would like me to be.’
‘That’s fine. You do things the way you want to. Marriage isn’t for everyone, after all.’
‘It’s waaaay too much commitment right now. I don’t wanna tie myself down.’
‘Right, that makes sense. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with you playing the field.’
‘Good. I know Mum and Dad don’t like me going through a lot of guys, but things don’t always work out.’
‘Better that than to stick with someone who isn’t right for you. What’s this one like, anyway? He wasn't too bothered, was he?’
‘No, he’s nice. It's not like he expects me not to have had a past. Still early days yet, of course.’
‘I hope it works out for you, then.’
‘Thanks.’
*knock knock knock*
‘You? How the hell did you find me?’
‘I was on my way to the karaoke bar, but then I happened to spot you coming home. There’s a lot I want to ask you.’
‘And what makes you think you’re entitled to my time?’
‘I’m entitled to the truth. You don’t get to put me through a childhood like that and not explain how it happened.’
‘Still harping on about your childhood? Aren’t you a little old for that excuse now?’
‘It’s not an excuse! I’m just after answers, okay? Not a justification or anything, just the plain facts of what really happened.’
‘Oh, fine.’
‘You’re not sitting down or anything. I’m not welcoming you as a guest. Plain facts it is. What do you want to know?’
‘You start with John Atwood’s death.’

Legend is history as we would like it to be. We pick through the dusts of time for what is worth keeping and, here and there, we occasionally find treasure.
