Default New problem with HP's SimPe Tutorial (fix flashing blue accessories) *SOLVED*

Hi Everyone,

I am using SimPE to try to follow this http://modthesims.info/showthread.p...25#startcomment.

I was fine until Step 3. When I try to add a placeholder for the missing parts I get an error stating this move will require "Managed Directx". What is this, how do I get it and will it fix my problem? I have Windows 10.

If you take another look at the "What you will need" section of the tutorial, you will see that HP explicitly says that you need Managed DirectX for the tutorial. The download link on the English SimPE site does not seem to work for some reason, though. But on the German site it works just fine. Thank you for your reply - I knew I needed Managaed DirectX for that tutorial (I made a note of that in the title of this post). However, I was curious about what it is. I've never heard of it before - I've only heard of DirectX before.

I followed the link you kindly sent me. It appears it worked and I am now able to move to the next step of the tutorial.

I now have a new problem unfortunately. When I get to step 3J of the tutorial I should be able to rename the placeholder. Unfortunately the part of the box that should have this option is blacked out. If you compare my screenshot with the screenshot from the tutorial you can see what I mean. Any ideas?

There's another way to change group name actually, just import it as placeholder then open the groups tab, choose the placeholder line and change the name there, once done hit commit and it's done.

Have you tried a different UI in the SimPE settings? It may be the UI you're using is causing the blackness.

Simmer22 thank you for your simple suggestion! You were right and trying a different UI in the settings absolutely fixed this problem!

I have a feeling like I'm still going to struggle to finish this tutorial, but maybe I will start a new thread if I need further help

You can use the same thread if it's related to the flashing blue issue - it creates less clutter in the forum.
