The single most important thing is to create a
backup of your save game before opening your neighborhood in SimPE, and to keep that
backup until you are absolutely sure that you have not caused any major problems.
I believe that your best option is to find an existing ("Went to College" and "(Sim) Went to College") memory for a different sim and copy that one to your sim (find the memory, select the memory, right click and Copy Selection, find the correct sim, select a memory, then right click and Paste Below). Copying an existing memory will make it more likely that all of the raw data are correct, except for the owner and subject. Then ensure that the Owner and Subject fields are set correctly.
Once that is done, check the raw data to ensure that all of the fields contain reasonable data.
